League pivots south, not quite Atlantic League

635

Back-to-back away games are statistically more likely to result in points being dropped than any other games (especially if one is a European game), so the probability of Aberdeen dropping points in Inverness last night was high. Their second night-game in the same week, on Friday at Firhill, will also be a genuine challenge.  I can’t find enough occurrences of a team having two away games in the same midweek to draw any statistical inference but I’m glad it’s Aberdeen’s lot, not Celtic’s.

That result felt profound.  Celtic can use the opportunity of a quiet week to prep for the visit of Inverness. A Highland double would go a long way towards the title.

On the “Atlantic League” story, little detail has been reported on what’s happened (ignore what has been reported) and where it’s heading.  The project is not at a mature stage yet, it’s not an Atlantic League, it’s not a collaboration of clubs from small nations, and no lower league clubs, anywhere, have been involved.  Apart from that, the story’s fine.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has kicked the sleeping dog.  We’ll see where he barks.

Time is running out for you to register for the Celtic Park Zip Slide, in aid of the Foundation, which takes place next month.  I did it last year and it was genuinely exhilarating.  Go here and register.

Love your knowledge. You will know my Polish war hero grandad by sight. When he was not worshipping in Sao Simon’s Partick, he could be found every morning at mass in Sao Paolo Whiteinch.

Further to my earlier post about Thiago ‘Jake La’ Motta.

I couldn’t make that game and watched it on the telly.

The BBC had a camera in the North Stand and had footage of what happened in the tunnel at half time.

Motta made a beeline for Bobo and landed a punch on him, Bobo banjoed him back, big Rab tried to break it up . The ref then thought Rab was boxing with Motta and both were red carded.

It turned out well for us, winning our hame game and then David Marshall and John Kennedy along with their team matex performing heroics at the Camp Nou in the second leg.

  13. What is the Stars

Krystyna Skarbek is fascinating story. She was very brave girl from her early years. When she was 15, in the church at the Mass on her knees, with the candle in her hands, she burn father’s cassock. She explained after that she was going to check if Father had faith and was ready to continue the Mass. Krystyna was relegated from the school after that accident.

Unfortunately I don’t remember full story, can’t say if Father was believer.

  16. I didn’t realise that Celtic had played Dunfermline (development teams). A guy I work with who’s Son is trying to get into the Dunfermline team at a very young age, well, he said that Paddy Roberts was Incredible, I don’t even know if he is a Tim. His appraisal of the Player was Superb and music to the ears. His own Son said he was Amazing.

He started the convo with, and because of a bad cold I can’t hear that well. “Celtic done well last night”. I thought he was talking about Celtic strengthening their Hold of the SPL.

Delaney’s, the Poles have suffered so much crap over the last couple of centuries especially from Germany and Russia.

The Allied command from what I have read, kept Polish troops out of battle for as long as possible , as they were scared of the retribution they might have carried out on the Germans. One of the reasons put forward by one World War 2 historian for them eventually taking the monastrey at Cassino was so many other Allied troops had been killed or wounded , the Poles were the last of their reserves. This was from a documentary on one of the Discovery channels.

There is also the story of the Polish prisoners , released by the Russians , who walked over a thousand miles to join their compatriots who were based in Iraq or Iran.

One of the Polish regiments in the middle east had a bear as their mascot and was given a pay book as he was such an important member of the force.

At Arnhem, the Polish troops landed the day after the attack started falling apart , went straight into battle to help their British colleagues under seige at Oosterbeek (spelling).

You are rightly proud of your grandfather and his countrymen.
