League pivots south, not quite Atlantic League

635

Back-to-back away games are statistically more likely to result in points being dropped than any other games (especially if one is a European game), so the probability of Aberdeen dropping points in Inverness last night was high. Their second night-game in the same week, on Friday at Firhill, will also be a genuine challenge.  I can’t find enough occurrences of a team having two away games in the same midweek to draw any statistical inference but I’m glad it’s Aberdeen’s lot, not Celtic’s.

That result felt profound.  Celtic can use the opportunity of a quiet week to prep for the visit of Inverness. A Highland double would go a long way towards the title.

On the “Atlantic League” story, little detail has been reported on what’s happened (ignore what has been reported) and where it’s heading.  The project is not at a mature stage yet, it’s not an Atlantic League, it’s not a collaboration of clubs from small nations, and no lower league clubs, anywhere, have been involved.  Apart from that, the story’s fine.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has kicked the sleeping dog.  We’ll see where he barks.

Time is running out for you to register for the Celtic Park Zip Slide, in aid of the Foundation, which takes place next month.  I did it last year and it was genuinely exhilarating.  Go here and register.

    I was absolutely not offended.

I just felt that the matters you refer to could have legal implications.

    That was my only intention.

  2. I confidently predict that we will see a marked improvement in performance when Charlie Mulgrew is fully back in the team. I won’t go into the precise reasoning, suffice to say, that with him and Scott Brown in the side, we become more confident and less brittle.

I know there are a number of Charlie detractors on here and no doubt we will hear of some historical individual error by him – nonetheless, I shall be happy when I see his name on the team-sheet – hope it is on Saturday.

Your contract might be timed out,but you’re welcome on here anytime, bud. Reading your recollections has been disturbing and painful at times, but pales to what you and yours have been through.

Stray strong, mate. And keep in touch. I’ll hopefully catch you for a beer in March.

    GOOD LUCK WI THE PLAN!!!!

Agreed – think however this season may be Kris’s swansong with us – taking into account all the ‘young bucks’ we have waiting in the wings – probably could do worse than employ him in a player/coach capacity – but after Malmo, maybe that is a step too far.

Have to say that I too was a little worried at the content of a few posts recently – however you never know what people are going through at any time – he sounds very upset – I wish him well.

Brilliant post – Hail Hail fella, hope yer well.

What ye have to realize is, your admirably trying to ‘spark’ a positive drive to what can at best be described as a, fragile environment where Celtic are operating in just now.

It’s so fragile that, one defeat could see the fans at the front door for Ronny’s head which would be the wrong thing to do….imho.

Hopefully, Celtic win the double and stick it right to the establishment.

Again, yer post was excellent – Hail Hail

  10. Disappointed that, Hibs beat Hertz last night.

If, the huns get through the Dundee tie and, get Hibs….the huns will cuff them.

Big Stubbs hizny got it when the chips are down….imho

  11. I see that there’s talk of the world becoming a better place if, Commons and Mulgrew get back into the team ?

    Dear, dear…..

In 9 out of 10 of the ‘lost’ European qualifiers since Neil became manager….Mulgrew has had a, hands-on role.

And guess what ?….He just walks into the team the following year….to do the same!

    Rudderless ship ?…..Aye!

  12. Well done to Big Mark McGhee with his difficult job at Fir Park.

On his day….he can put a team of, waifs / strays / Celtic-rejects…etc, the gither and….hand Ronny his erse on a plate at a, hauf empty Celtic Park.

Mulgrew rested on his laurels after his first, and very successful, season with us.

Not approached anything like those standards since.

  18. Kevj – you and the other members of our ‘Grudge Ludge’ are as predictable as you are predictable and I predict you will continue to so be!

  19. blantyretim is praying for the Knox family on

Not a speck of the white stuff in city centre as I down a wee wetherspoons coffee

  20. Membership of the ‘Grudge Ludge’ will be posted at a later time – as well as grudges against Charlie and Kris – others on the receiving end will include The Board in its entirety – Peter Lawwell – John Park – John Reid – Brian Quinn – Dermot Desmond -Lord Livingstone and anyone else with an ounce of sense on how to run a successful football club.

  21. Btw, Thom the tim’s excellent idea would be a fire catcher if…Celtic came out and announced that, they had had their fill of the SMSM and, were banning them – persona-non-grata-effective-immediately….imho.

Don’t play by the SMSM’s rules….make up our own and, stick by them rigidly…imho

Glad he found out in time-I doubt it would have gone down well with his new employers, haha!

As I said, his new town has excellent rail links,so he would be fine travelling. But a homeless hostel, taking a bed from some poor sod that needs it,he should think shame(!)

    Seriously PMSL here…

  23. Aye…..so successful that attendances are now nearer the 20,000 mark.

It’s all part of a plan,ya numptie. Doncha know, our most successful years were when we had crowds of around 20,000?

You should do,it’s been stated on here often enough.

Not chronologically, just as he remembered each detail.

Shocking and gut wrenching maybe, but powerful stuff nevertheless.

I was at Celtic Park last Saturday. If your estimates are correct, there would have been room for about another 40,000 in the ground. There was not. The crowd, as always, was around the 40,000 mark. You obviously have a strong dislike of the Board but outrageous claims re attendance do not help your case.

  29. FRANKTERRY – yes indeed very powerful – a style reminiscent of the collaboration between Leonard Cohen and Rev I. M. Jolly.

Yer nearly always right… But yer adulation of MM is way ott. Officially the worst manager Aberdeen ever had and his records at a pile of other clubs are almost as bad.

They empty seats that are causing you ( and me concern) will multiply if yer man Mark ever gets his haunds oan Ronnies jaicket.
