Congratulations to everyone who participated in the 9-in-a-row CQN Charity Golf Day at Aberdour in Fife, yesterday. The event, auctions and raffles leading up to it raised £6000, the bulk of which will go to the 1254125 appeal, while some will go to Clic Sargent, who help families with children with that dreadful disease.
Lisbon Lion, Willie Wallace, and his wife Olive, were fantastic guests, who enjoyed spending a day with 70 or so friends. It doesn’t matter how far away Lisbon Lions live, you always find them the same way.
My sincere thanks to everyone who came along, bid of the auctions or bought a raffle ticket, all in aid of people you will never know. Thank you from all of us to John, Kevin and John, for their stressful work in pulling the event together, for the ninth year!

You can walk a 1888 meters, go to the barbers and get a baldy to celebrate the signing of Amido Balde, it doesn’t need to be as ambitious as the 150 brave souls who right this very moment are atop Ben Nevis about to undertake the world’s highest huddle.
If you believe in this club, don’t leave it to someone else to take care of what’s important. The same goes for your season ticket. It has been over a century since we have been as close to the founding spirit of our club, but the sporting dramas which inspire us all are not achieved by new strikers, they are the fruits of tens of thousands fans buying season tickets.
Go stake your claim on Celtic.

The problem with attitudes prevalent in Scotland towards Catholicism is no better exemplified than incidents where Celtic players have blessed themselves after scoring a goal, especially against yon deid club.
The reaction of authorities and the media is “Why should that player feel the need to bless himself blah blah blah…”.
The reaction should be : “Why does it matter whether a player blesses himself or not? Why should anyone take offence? ”
This issue of course goes further in wider society with regards to people wearing religious symbols (such as crucifixes).
We should be promoting religious tolerance and freedom.
When so called football fans react violently to people blessing themselves, why aren’t the press roundly condemning them for their intolerance?
The answer of course often lies with the attitude of the press, they too are intolerant.
Of course, if the followers of yon deid club were truly protestant, a supposedly Christian group, they should be supportive of people expressing a belief in God. The same God they themselves supposedly believe in.
Indeed, they should bless that person in return.
Sadly, it is the age-old intolerance of Catholicism, specifically Catholicism, the core creed of the protestant, which is at the heart of life in Scotland.

On the subject of OO walks.
My dads auntie who was a total character and Celtic daft was in Glasgow City Centre in the 60′s or 70′s. She got to the middle of Sauchiehall Street and the walk was coming down and they were told to wait until they have to cross the street. Whilst standing there a guy joined her at the crossing in a rather fetching royal blue suit. He turned to her and said
‘Enjoying the walk hen? Here come the Scottish champions!’
She replied saying
‘I need to get on my way got mass this evening’
His face was a picture apparently and as he observed the bands in full flight she burned a hole in his beautiful suit with her fag.
She must have had a few prayers to say at the next confessional. I would say it was worth it!
