Legends, history, £6k and tens of thousands of Celtic fans

1401

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the 9-in-a-row CQN Charity Golf Day at Aberdour in Fife, yesterday.  The event, auctions and raffles leading up to it raised £6000, the bulk of which will go to the 1254125 appeal, while some will go to Clic Sargent, who help families with children with that dreadful disease.

Lisbon Lion, Willie Wallace, and his wife Olive, were fantastic guests, who enjoyed spending a day with 70 or so friends.  It doesn’t matter how far away Lisbon Lions live, you always find them the same way.

My sincere thanks to everyone who came along, bid of the auctions or bought a raffle ticket, all in aid of people you will never know. Thank you from all of us to John, Kevin and John, for their stressful work in pulling the event together, for the ninth year!

125 years ago a handful of people, living in a community devastated by hunger, destitution and TB, but who could make a difference, decided they would make a difference.  As a result, Celtic was born.  Celtic is not just something to brighten up your weekends, it’s not purely there to build friendships or to create common-interests across the generations, it is a movement you are required participate in.

The clarion call to all Celtic fans this year is to do more than just put your hand in your pocket, the spirit which gave birth to the concept of Celtic will only survive if those who can get involved, inspire a fresh generation by doing so.

Go register for 1254125, and commit to doing something to raise £125.  It can be anything.  You can walk a 1888 meters, go to the barbers and get a baldy to celebrate the signing of Amido Balde, it doesn’t need to be as ambitious as the 150 brave souls who right this very moment are atop Ben Nevis about to undertake the world’s highest huddle.

If you believe in this club, don’t leave it to someone else to take care of what’s important.  The same goes for your season ticket.  It has been over a century since we have been as close to the founding spirit of our club, but the sporting dramas which inspire us all are not achieved by new strikers, they are the fruits of tens of thousands fans buying season tickets.

Go stake your claim on Celtic.

  1. valentinesday on

    Good morning Timland.

Happy fathers day to all the dad’s out there…….the most

importing and hardest job you’ll ever do……thinking of my

own old man……tales of the old jungle in the fifties……he

would have loved the demise of the hun,to say he had little time

for them is putting it mildly………I thank him for my love of all thing’s

Celtic……..will be getting pampered myself today…..going tae kick

    the erse oot it.

  2. mornin’ troops……………

Much border activity likely today as conditions improve by the hour – everything’s ready, the hardware is in place and a craic team ( x2) of battle-hardened, green- fingered heroes, share a last cup of tea before confronting the infernal, invasive enemy in our midst.

    Our weeding-out day has come……………

    HH.

  3. Good morning friends from a dry, mild but heavy clouded East Kilbride.

I hope that all the Fathers on here are well pampered today.

  4. Morning all from a sunny Northern Holland.

Reading through last nights posts and wondering the same as some others are kojo and the TSD one and the same! Perhaps not! What language are they writing in. Is it gobbledygook or some strange form of pigeon English that is only spoken by eejits? What ever dialect it is it simply ensures one scrolls on by and thereby avoiding having to read their nonsense.

    Morning champions

This close season malarkey does my bresticles in.

At least I had that big shiny cup for company last night.

Meanwhile. .. over on zombie media. .. in a thread about prior exposing exec pay at the asbestos dome….

A right good spat between a few deady bears … one rant about prior.. the other zombie points out his poor writing style and lack of punctuation.

All hell breaks loose… reminded me of the day when I went to Glasgow green with a mate to wander through the hun parades. As the drunks battered each other with bottles and never surrendered.

  6. ‘An Irish Republican identity is potentially criminal under the Act?’

Lord Advocate: ‘Potentially criminal under this Act, yes’

So the next time I am at CP I am liable for arrest if I identify myself as an Irish republican? Freedom of speech enshrined in Scots law that is unless you happen to be Fenian.

Aye an independent Scotland will be a bloody marvellous wee country

  7. “potentially”

    “as I understand it”

….the latest – episode in an ongoing spin campaign.

Ignore the LAZY convenient headlines, concentrate on the detail…….

So far that’s what the ‘Sheriffs’ have done……….

    Oglach

One advantage of his / her writing style is its easy to scroll by without noticing the pash written.

Only problem I get is rsi at times.

  9. Bankiebhhoy

I’m very disappointed in Mulholland …clearly suffering from the Willie Collum syndrome

Desperate to be seen to be even handed….ends up craven and subservient ….poor show

    Thanks in advance

Both do free, no commitment one month trials. So give them both a go.

  11. Brilliant effort all those who done the Ben Nevis climb

  12. PF,

mornin’ – aye, a poor performance on the evidence provided.

However, to coin a phrase – the truth is out there, imo our best bet is to always highlight the ludicrous trumped-up nature of this given the perfectly appropriate law in place already. Keep on reminding them of the damning hun context at the heart of this.

Best not to go along with the gerrymandering.

(Hopefully Frank will have a Pauline recovery sometime soon)

Solutions to all problems are answers. To get answers you have to ask questions.

With the SFL having been booted into touch and the SFA marginalised I cant wait to see the level of mibbery we are faced with this season.

I predict a lower points return than last season. Ross County pushing us close.

Friday night hun games on BT a nice little earner.

Now just where will Sevco get the money to enable them to re-establish themselves at the top tier.

Such lucrative contracts will also help in securing banking facilities.

As a celtic supporter I have posted on CQN for a good few years under various blog names I dont post anything like as much as I used to I do more lurking now with the odd post now and then. When I first joined the Forum Kojo was already posting and I have often wondered is he really in Las Vegas or is it Easterhouse ? I dont think anyone on CQN has ever met him but there again no one has met me either.Does he post under more than one name ? well the Singing Detective has a style very much like kojos and there are others that he talks with on the forum that could be him as well who knows who cares ? I think at times we take life and this forum to seriously when all it is is a platform for our views. Some posters get very upset when someone challenges there point of view but that is just life it would be very dull if we all agreed with each other.I treat Kojos posts for what they are and that is a form of entertainment and yes he has some very right wing views on life but I often think he is winding people up and I am often amused at posters getting hot under the collar with him.In my opinion CQN would be a poorer place without kojo and his amusing posts.H.H.

  21. A quick scan of various sites this morning and I find:

Hertz to be in administration in 10 days – Good

The ‘genius’ who has purchased 400k of Sevco shares says theY pay their executives too much; see I told you he was a genius…oh and he’s a pal of Malcolm Murray – Good.

Celtic purchase an exciting young forward for real money that will be paid in full to the selling club on time – Excellent

….and the Lord Advocate makes an erse of himself. Let’s hope he doesn’t meet any SF members of the NI Gov’t when they visit Scotland…seems that’s a crime in Frank’s eyes – Bad.

  22. Awe Naw

The TV money is the same for the next 4 years. Playing games on a Friday won’t earn any side extra money.

The new play offs are the only extra that will bring in more money for the rest of the leagues.

  23. On CQN there seems to be a group of republicans, eg Oglach, who are keen to see Ireland united and free from UK interference but want Scotland to remain as part of the UK . This is beyond strange. Self determination should be a right for all.

  24. It should be a good start to the weekend hearing the trialists have made an erchie of themselves at some Division two outpost…

Any MSM coverage of the Ben Nevis Huddle ?

    HH

I’m not sure but to be fair they are probably still working on the Adam Virgo story with Du Wei’s counter allegations to come…

  26. So let me see if i understand this correctly.

According to the new SPFL, there will be no winter break but clubs can cancel home fixtures on the 4th + 11th of January and then play those games on the 22nd + 29th of the same month?

Considering that we will be the only Scottish club in with a chance of European football after Xmas, i sincerely hope that we are given 2 home games in a row on those dates.
