LENNY’S BOLINGOLI UPDATE

NEIL LENNON admits he has NOT written off Boli Bolingoli although the Belgian defender has started only one game in 2020.

The left-back, a £3million purchase from Rapid Vienna in the summer, started the 3-0 Scottish Cup win over Division One part-timers Clyde last month, but has been overlooked for the other 14 encounters since the turn of the year.

Bolingoli, who was brought in as Lennon prepared for the £25million exit of Kieran Tierney to Arsenal, made 27 appearances until the defeat against Steven Gerard’s Ibrox side on December 29, the Hoops’ first loss to the Govan club in the east end of Glasgow in nine years.

Scotland international Greg Taylor, who arrived in a £2.25million switch from Kilmarnock on transfer deadline day, is the preferred choice at the moment with the versatile Jonny Hayes as back-up.

Lennon, though, refuses to rule out Bolingoli playing a part as the team surges towards a phenomenal quadruple treble.

The Hoops gaffer, in a report in the Daily Record, admitted: “He is in and around it, but the team is playing well, so it’s been difficult for him to break back through.

“He’s still in my thoughts for between now and the end of the season.”
