Lessons learned from Friday experiment

828

After every experimental line-up (such as Friday’s), it’s tempting to ask what the manager learned from the experience.

The partnerships on the left and right wings didn’t look right.  Emilio Izaguirre didn’t overlap as often as usual and Stuart Armstrong was less effective than normal.  A lack of space impacted the James Forrest-Adam Matthews partnership on the right.  Forrest was manhandled until he switched left or got inside the box, when he was able to play unhindered.

Ineffectiveness on the wings led to the same up front.  Anthony Stokes doesn’t get to play centre forward too often and didn’t really get much of a chance on Friday.  Stokes anonymity was the most glaring aspect of the game but I suspect the responsibility lies elsewhere.

I’ve just watched it again myself Dr M and clearly saw my dearly departed brother with hoops on and scarf held high at 3:50, id usually break down at this point but just feel proud.

Also saw the big man once on C4 when they did GAA walking out of croke park with the hoops on.. Was a bit gobsmacked as I thought he was upstairs sleeping off a hangover !

The game in question is much too important for anyone to simply lie down.

Relegation would mean huge pay cuts-at least!-for all concerned. That will mean more than anything else on the day.

    I hope!!

Bada bing talking of campbell money, do you remember the joke going around in the late eigthies about players playing in the premier league whose name had an association with money. Campbell money being the obvious one.

Its good to have those memories especially of loved ones who are no longer with us.

The story of your brother being somewhere when you thought he was someone else reminds me of meeting a workmate in the middle of Trafalgar square full of bhoys at 8 in the morning for o’learys testimonial and he was looking for a phone box to get a days leave.
