Lessons learned from Friday experiment

828

After every experimental line-up (such as Friday’s), it’s tempting to ask what the manager learned from the experience.

The partnerships on the left and right wings didn’t look right.  Emilio Izaguirre didn’t overlap as often as usual and Stuart Armstrong was less effective than normal.  A lack of space impacted the James Forrest-Adam Matthews partnership on the right.  Forrest was manhandled until he switched left or got inside the box, when he was able to play unhindered.

Ineffectiveness on the wings led to the same up front.  Anthony Stokes doesn’t get to play centre forward too often and didn’t really get much of a chance on Friday.  Stokes anonymity was the most glaring aspect of the game but I suspect the responsibility lies elsewhere.

Thanks for the link to Dens Park on the day. I was quite impressed just how much it meant to the Dundee players and supporters, schadenfreude Tayside style!

Henke, although the your day will come banner is a topper, my favourite banner of all time is simply the banner with the arrow pointing to the left that stated SCOTLANDS SHAME .

Remember a few seasons ago ., the Craig whyte banner that went from 101 right along the north stand to the Celtic end then I think it came back to the other end and into the main stand . Passed down to the directors box ( but they shit out ) and back again

Can’t help it CorkCelt I’ve already told him about my Dublin Granny.

Having said that I’m going to Killarney for a festival at end of June and hope to be in Cork for at least one night, never got there last time as the good lady was so enamoured with Kinsale.

  12. I can only imagine the reaction when the news filtered through that Dundee had scored. I imagine it was on the old transistor radio.

  13. Keeping The Faith, Cork is a grand wee spot, I know it sounds contradictory but if you are strolling about make sure you wander through “The English Market”.

I remember saying to my neebor at the match ” who woulda thunk it that we would be passing a banner with the rfc chairman on around Celtic park and singing his name ”

  18. KTF, Plenty of Pubs Ok. Main Celtic Pub is The Friars Walk Tavern but that is a bit out of the way for a City Centre visit. The English Market is just off The Grand Parade, its a fish market but there are plenty of other bits and pieces there as well. Its quite historic and well worth a quick peep. There is a pub in there as well.
