Lessons learned from Friday experiment

828

After every experimental line-up (such as Friday’s), it’s tempting to ask what the manager learned from the experience.

The partnerships on the left and right wings didn’t look right.  Emilio Izaguirre didn’t overlap as often as usual and Stuart Armstrong was less effective than normal.  A lack of space impacted the James Forrest-Adam Matthews partnership on the right.  Forrest was manhandled until he switched left or got inside the box, when he was able to play unhindered.

Ineffectiveness on the wings led to the same up front.  Anthony Stokes doesn’t get to play centre forward too often and didn’t really get much of a chance on Friday.  Stokes anonymity was the most glaring aspect of the game but I suspect the responsibility lies elsewhere.

Are odds on favs not allowed to win in Ireland ? Ruby does an Annie Power on a 4/11 shot..

Normally agree with much of what you say but Rangers are not an irrelevance to our support. They are an obsession. There are Celtic men who watch almost every Rangers game.

The Old Firm remains. The hate remains.

Stuart McCall played for Farsley Celtic prior to signing for Bradford. Strangely,he kept that quiet…

Too many changes seems if you play well this pratt we have in charge will drop you,Forrest rapoed the arabs in the cup and is left out Guidetti scores and is left out Biton by far our best player this season benched , while that big norweigan that cant pass to team mate is un droppable, the ref then get in on the act by allowing that thug Goodwin away with a yellow when it was clearly a RED CARD,ane the hand ball pen was stopping a goal bound shot and should also have been red

Never watch the huns except against us.

The Burnley vSpurs is as devoid of entertainment as possible.

A lot of epl games are like this.

Theres a lot of hoof and hope in this game.

As always you raise a very good point.

Why,if Rangers are such an irrelevance,do so many on here comment on and take interest in their current situation?

I don’t believe that it has anything to do with ‘the old firm remains’ nor ‘the hate remains’ as you suggest.

I think it is simply a desire to have them punished for their wrongdoings over the years,to not have it brushed under the carpet-which would be the case but for sites like this-and for justice to be done.

Surely you believe in justice for those who have been wronged, and punishment for wrongdoers?

Just drove through Partick and witnessed zombies celebrating like they have just won the European Cup. Funny to watch. :)

Happy Easter to one and all

Have to disagree on Stokes – what he lacks is not service which to to be fair wasn’t great on Friday but the heart and courage to lead the line

All great centre forwards have that vital ingredient in their game.

They might be fast like Lennox, or big and strong like Sutton, or a combination like Macca in the centenary season or the greatest of them all the bold Henrik! But they all had the courage to go in where it really hurts to score goals and lead the line

Stokes has plenty of ability and can spot openings and passes but he too often fails to get in the six yard box because he knows he might get hurt!

I cannot recall him ever scoring a goal for us like the one GMS scored on his debut at Thistle – where he knew he would take a hit but went in and scored all the same!

Time for AS to move on IMHO

I never want to have to play them AGAIN .but sadly it looks likely they are set for promotion …. I keep praying for an admin event followed by liquidation & their existence from this earth gone forever but I don’t think it will ever happen in this country … right back to lurking glad to have got that off my chest hail hail

Because their behaviour, and how they are treated by the authorities and the media, provide a useful insight into how Scottish football in particular, and Scottish society in general, operate.

Indeed, mate. You put it better than I did,but mine was in reply to CAPTAINBEEFHEART. The part you lifted certainly did not reflect my own opinions!

  18. The one thing thats noticeable in epl games is the commentators reluctance to criticise no matter how bad the game is.

Yesterday at Arsenal v Liverpool the commentators went on a ramble about how Arsenal were a far better team than AS Monaco and that they should have gone through in champions league.

They were never going to contemplate that maybe the epl is not that great and Liverpool made Arsenal look better than the reality.

It’s probably in their contracts not to criticise a product the tv company paid a lot of money for.

Which is absent in spl contract due to the tv companies not giving a shit about something that costs them little.

Also don’t think the tv companies are aware of Scotlands dirty little secret.

Huns generally running the show and trying to devalue anything that does not include them.

  21. Well, no real surprise that the new huns beat the mini huns. Wonder how many on here managed to hold their noses and partake of the 2/1 that was reportedly on offer?

Looks like they new club will get second place now. But I think they will have to go through Hibs and Motherwell to get promoted …

Do fans of The Rangers watching a game at Easter realise they are celebrating two versions of the phoenix myth at the same time??

We’re free to use the internets not a literal banner, but a mantra that keeps the Celtic support aware of of how Scottish football was cheated.

The fact it happened to have been carried out by Rangers now Sevco is irrelevant.

It’s the matter of it having been accepted with no contrition, and the making way for continuance.
