  1. 🍀Good post from the Huddleboard🍀

Neil Lennon and the Scottish media.

When I think back to the period when Lenny, along with other Celtic employee’s and prominent fans, were receiving death threats and bullets in the post, it still leaves me with an uneasy feeling.

There’s no doubt Lenny was the Loyalist Hun supporting bastards main target, and that opinion was confirmed when Celtic had to actually hire a bodyguard to protect him. Even worse, was when the Police had to move his family from their home because they considered there was a definite and viable threat against Lenny’s life.

If further confirmation was needed it was certainly confirmed when he was actually assaulted at the side pitch during a game at Tynecastle.

Again thinking back to those dark times, memories come flooding back like, do you remember the tone of the media reports regarding these incidents at the time? Do you remember some reporters/pundits from TV/radio and print wanted Lenny done for supposedly retaliating when the nutter at Tynecastle attacked him from behind?

Do you remember the collective media narrative of “He brings it on himself”?

Do you remember the print media and official web sites constantly using photographs of a snarling Neil Lennon for virtually every story regarding Celtic?

Do you remember the Clyde SSB, the Real Radio phone in’s, and Jabba’s “Your call” slot on BBC radio Scotland, all allowing Hun callers a free reign to spit vile abuse in Lenny’s direction, whilst trying to sell the agenda that the uppity Fenian bastard brought it all on himself?

Do you remember when Lenny was lied to by a referee, and when the club rightfully complained to the SFA Lenny was blamed as main villain when Referee’s and officials went on strike

Worst of all, do you remember when ex players and supposed Celtic fans in print, on the radio, and on TV agreeing with the campaign narrative that ” Yes, Neil brings it on himself”?

Lenny didn’t do the easy thing by turning tail and running back then, and I don’t expect him to do it now.

So instead of focusing on our fear of not doing the 10, it’s time to get right behind both him and the players. We need to try and find ways to send all of them our messages of support. We need to stop doing our enemies work for them and try to promote an air of positivity.

We can’t afford to be fractured this season more than any other.

  2. Today’s official starting line up v Lille ……

Bain; Frimpong, Duffy, Ajer, Laxalt, Brown, McGregor, Christie, Ntcham, Elyounoussi, Ajeti

Subs: Barkas, Taylor, Bitton, Welsh, Soro, Turnbull, Klimala, Dembele, Rogic, Henderson, Griffith, Edouard

  3. Good to see some new posters and some of the old names popping back up. Almost all come in with support for the Celtic and for Neil Lennon which fills me with joy. We’re slowly coming out of a bit of a form and/or confidence slump. Tonight might be a tough test but regardless of the result I will wake up a Celtic supporter in the morning. Going for a tight 1 goal game tonight.

For all USA Bhoys, CBS All Access is showing all Champions League and Europa League games live. I think there’s a $5/month premium channel charge on top of your regular package subscription, but surely well worth it.

  4. garygillespieshamstring on

Don’t care if we win lose or draw. Just want to see a spirited performance with some good, attacking football and steady defending.

Although a point or three would be icing on the cake.

  5. Paul the Spark…belated condolonces ….thats as hard as it gets ..

may your Mum rest in peace

  6. Well that’s me wakened from my power nap and ready to pick up my cudgel and do battle.

Not expecting a victory but if we have battlers out there I will be happy and keep free of Covid-19 guys. UEFA need to be held to account for even thinking about teams traveling all over Europe.

Reading about the way Neil Lennon was treated (and still is) by the smsm reminds of standing in a pub in Montrose and this zombie follower came out with “I heard it’s the IRA who are sending Lennon bombs” Montrose had an asylum on the outskirts of town but this was taking care in the community too far.

    In Lenny we Trust. HH

    Thanks for the post.

I’m going for a 1-1 draw tonight. Duffy to score first.

  8. COYBIG

Whilst not giving a flying feck for the EL I want us to win every game.

  9. Just my thoughts

Would have Broonie play Sweeper behind Duffy & Ajer

Gives a bit more freedom to both Frimpong & Laxalt

Can create either a back 5 or Midfield 5 very quickly

Christie, Ntcham & Mcgregor in midfield

    Elyanousi support Ajeti

Again Elyanousi can drop into midfield, to create a compact defensive team (5 at back, 4 in midfield) as required

    Just my view ???

  10. That first post is very worthy of the podium.

Tonight? Even though Neil has ignored the CQN experts, I fancy a draw.

  11. Norriem

I have often thought Broonie as a Sweeper might be an idea but I had a feeling sweepers were a thing of the past. Is that the case?

  12. Cameron MacGregor welcome

    Macew welcome …..

smiley I ,ll take it your both elephant snacks thing

    Braw

  13. So, if we go 1-0 up with five minutes to play, do we replace Ajer and Duffy with Griffiths and Edouard and go for victory the Glasgow Celtic Way ?

  14. Hot Smoked

I honestly think, teams are getting at our defence with Broonie sitting in front of defence

Let him sit behind and hopefully clear up as the ball is played between our defensive set up ???

    Just my view

Hat tip to Jamesgang for this excellent link. Do read it after the match (unless you’re planning to watch it in a pub or round at yer mate’s hoose, in which case read it NOW…)

Apropos the discussion about restrictions on meetings and locations, I thought this was very interesting.

  16. Here we go again….

To the back of the sofa again……

Aberdeen away didn’t inspire me and we’ve taken out the creative fulcrum, left in the Brown:Ntcham axis that don’t work, gone with Ajeti who doesn’t suit a 1 up front but still hoping for performance redemption amongst a few of the bhoys.

New game, clean slate but a definite mmmmmmm…

  18. p.s why do our benches look more appealing than our starting line ups?

On the plus side, nice to have those options…

  20. Kitchen door to automatic…..

Please just get through 10 minutes accident free. And try to still have a chance of taking something when theres 15 to go..

  21. Strong bench. First 11 can soften them up. Benchers can capitalise when they come on (given enough time).

No idea how this will go. As usual we’ve drawn the cream whilst others got the dross. I’ll take it.

  22. TBB

    Totally agree.

I read it an meant to recommend it as well then, in Homer Simpson style, some other post caught my eye and I forgot so thanks !
