Lose and Aberdeen season is over

593

Aberdeen will already be in town ahead of their game at Firhill tonight. Lose tonight and a season which promised so much as recently as Monday, will effectively be over.

Tomorrow’s game against Inverness will present a robust challenge for Celtic. Inverness are one of four clubs locked within a point of each other, a maximum of three of them will be in the top six after the split. Despite the fact that the Highlanders are competing in the right half of the table, with a Scottish Cup quarter final against Hamilton Accies to look forward to, they are only five points from the play-off spot.

Players will be battling for their livelihoods in every sense of the word.

Well done to Erik Sviatchenko’s old team, Midtjylland, on their Europa League win over Manchester United last night. And to the observer who noted that they have now beaten more top six teams in the England and Wales Premier League than Manchester United or Manchester City.

You wonder what last night’s results will do to the marketability of the Midtjylland players, and whether or not we would have been able to get Sviatchenko in the summer, had he stayed. Big results bring focus and scores of scouts. We nipped in at the right moment with Erik.

Good luck to Thistle tonight.

The Belgian club spokesman, whose team in the last 16 for first time, was waxing lyrical in telling us to form a ten-year plan, to get into CL – obviously he was unaware that we have been in the last sixteen THREE times in the last TEN years – of course the story was in the DR – so it might be sh**e.

Celtic fans under direction of Peter Lawell can only dream of these type of teams success We cannot complete in Europe to these examples of well run football clubs

Not a massive Lawwell fan but in the last 10 years we’ve had 3 x last 16 CL and a further 2 times in group stages, last 32 of EL and group stages a further 3 times. I would say a better record than any of the team’s you mentioned.

I am really surprised at the hype surrounding them. I watched both of their Europa League ties against Napoli . Napoli won 5 -0 and 1-4 .Mdjittiland looked bog standard pedestrian .

Think you’re team will accord with Ronny’s selections. Would love to see a couple of changes. Any 2, even the goalie. Just to mean we’re watching something slightly different.

  8. Join RISE on Saturday afternoon at Celtic Park as we talk to fans about the Offensive Behaviour at Football (OBA) Act and how we can challenge it. We need to stop disrupting Scottish fans lives and criminalising ordinary people. RISE is committed to opposing the OBA and if elected RISE MSPs will introduce legislation to repeal the act.

We’ll also be supporting fan ownership and fan empowerment so that the people who support the teams can have a proper say in their club.

We will be distributing a fact sheet to the fans and asking them to sign our petition to Michael Matheson MSP, Scottish Government Cabinet Secretary for Justice, calling for the immediate repeal of the Act.

Assemble at the RISE stall on Kerrydale St from 1:45pm.

Try as I might I can see no connection or correlation between the Easter rising, which was essentially an anti imperialist revolt against a colonial power, and the petty bourgeois nationalism of the SNP.

I can only hope that people will gradually begin to notice the gap between their rhetoric and their actions. At the moment you couldn’t put a cigarette paper between them and the Tories in their approach to austerity.

I suppose the dreadful weather will affect the attendance today, but I hope that those who are there will give the team full backing, even if things aren’t going our way.

There are many of us who wish we could be there, but can’t.

Give an extra shout for us.

The team need to know that we are all behind them and that they needn’t fear making a mistake.

Let’s hope Leighandowski has his shooting boots on.

However, Paul doesn’t seem to have considered the fact, in his ‘season over’ prediction, that Leigh Griffiths isn’t bionic.

They’ve seen SNP doing NOTHING for nine years, whilst joining the Tories in coalition and standing shoulder to shoulder with them on continued austerity and drastic council cuts.

The SNP government spend what they have been given from the Tory austerity government in Westminster, i must have missed the increase in funds allocated to Scotland

Sorry, I hadn’t realised you were an SNP supporter.

I thought RISE was a different organisation.

The SNP could cancel the freeze on the council tax and they could have voted for an increase in income tax, thereby avoiding the cuts that they are about to impose, but they haven’t.

  23. Looking forward to the crooner from Shuggy and Weep writing an article in which he tells us that we’re ‘better together’ and extols the virtues of Union, as he gets behind what will no doubt be his glorious leaderene’s quarter-hearted support for Dave’s ‘in’ campaign, while privately praying for a ‘no’ victory.

So vote SNP but oppose their legislation and hope that somehow, for some reason, they’ll pay attention to you.

    Good luck with that.

No doubt you’ll oppose the local authority cuts but support the council tax freeze and be against an increase in income tax.

We know from Broadfoot that the SFA think it will all blow over when TRFC enter the top tier. The only way to persuade football that it will not is to make further support conditional on SFA reconstruction.
