Losers of the Durrant outburst

450

Who are the losers from the recent Ian Durrant outburst?  It’s certainly not the Pope, nor any his co-religious.  I don’t even know if it will be Durant himself, who, incredibly, “meant to cause no offense”. Durrant’s status, whatever it is worth, will be assured by what happened.

The consequences will be imperceptible, part of a slow drift of affinity away from a football affinity which was once elevated by such sentiment and, in the 21st century, limited by it.  Sponsors are not the first to leave, it’s the fans with more between their ears than Durrant. The losers are the club and fans.

    WITS,

Lambert14 has obviously got you sussed. I moving my allegiance to somebody else.

Don’t ever darken Coias again in case somebody pees in your tea …….. again! ??

  2. “The losers are the club and fans.”

Hard to argue with that – whether Durrant has opened his gob or not!

  3. Fanatic

I agree with you almost completely.

I would nuance your assessment on French Eddie just a wee bit.

There was so much to savour. The more so as the game went on. But at times when you perceived to be him ‘holding position’ , I saw some occasions when he didn’t come to meet the ball, instead allowing the defenders to move in, in front of him, to take it.

That said, a lovely match due to this young mhan and the others you mentioned.

I was aghast at discovering there were actually fellow Celtic supporters who made a miserable bugger like me seem cheerful in comparison!

  5. JAMESGANG

    Can i nuance your nuance?

Ed will have to learn the tolerances of Scottish whistlers to refine this.

They did not so much as move in front of him but barged through the back.

The steamroller tackle is approved by Scottish whistlers to Celtic’s opponents.

You’re correct, Durrant’s insult matters less than nothing to the faithful. Pity the fool.

May I extend condolences today to the Maguiness family in Clydebank, Donegal and beyond as well as our dwindling Catholic community of St Joseph’s, Faifley. Laying Kay to rest is another sore blow we have to absorb.

    Good wishes to all Celts.

  13. The Durrant story will do nothing to detract from the historical quest of the new club.

Plays perfectly to their loyal (?? See what I did there??) customer base.

Also chimes in perfectly to the global zeitgeist where US Presidents mock all and sundry and racist old bastards cause elderly black ladies to be moved on Ryanair flights.

Perhaps, rather than being a man of his time, Mr Durrant was ahead of his time? Given that he’s been associated with bigotry for many years now.

A florida man accused of sexually assaulting a woman on a plane is apparently using the ‘Trump defence’.

He reached around and grabbed the woman sitting in the seat in front of him. He was arrested when the plane landed. After he was placed in handcuffs, he said “that the President of the United States says it’s ok to grab women by their private parts,”

On a related note, the Donald had previously expressed his admiration for the power held by Xi Jinping, the leader of the Chinese Communist Party: “He’s now president for life,” President Trump told supporters. “President for life. No, he’s great. And look, he was able to do that. I think it’s great. Maybe we’ll have to give that a shot some day.”

However, having spent some time in Scotland, he has reconsidered: “I would rather be like the Scottish Football Association…. you can do whatever you want, say whatever you want, and no one even questions it.”

However, other White House sources have suggested that the Donald was offered the job of running the SFA recently, but he declined, saying, ‘that mob are too dishonest…. even for me.’

I was very surprised how well my nephew was treated by Durrant when he signed for Dumbarton. They had Celtic/ Rangers banter but no more. He was a gentleman towards my sister, even getting them tickets for Celtic Euro matches that were sold out. This was not my perception of Ian Durrant. My impression of him is matched with today’s news. Sadly.

    Yip.

Young Mr Durrant, when still at Rangers, called me a tarrier, I didn’t even know that he knew who I was.

I played football with his brother Jamie and was having a pint with him and Ian walked past and said, what you doing drinking with that tarrier Jamie?

His brother apologised and said ignore him, he thinks that’s funny, the same old “banter”excuse is still being used today.

Carnegie’s in Paisley used to be famous on Wednesday nights. Frequented by footballers too. One night one of them grabbed a waitress by the breast as she walked past with a tray above her head. For legal reasons I can’t name him or ‘ID’ him on here.

Just seems to have been rushed through …. not really well thought through.

JNP …. everyone is welcome to come to Canada and smoke up … just make sure you aren’t from Japan or South Korea ..

both countries have laws that allow their laws to be applied to their citizens where ever the citizens are … it is illegal in SK to have pot …. so, even though it is legal to smoke pot in Canada, South Korean citizens can be prosecuted when they return to SK for smoking up in Canada ….

So, if Ki Sun Yung or Shunsuke Nakamura is reading ….. you cant say you weren’t warned….
