Magic from Madrid, share scams in 2012

1894

Atletico Madrid, happy for them?  Not an easy one.  I remember listening to the radio commentary the night we lost to them in the European Cup semi-final of 1974.  They, and Rapid Vienna a decade later, represented very unworthy competitors in European competition.

Both teams returned to Celtic Park in recent seasons.  Rapid picked up pretty much where we left them, an odious lot, but Atletico and their fans didn’t seem to bother about the past, they came and left wanting to play football.

As a boy I remember chastising old soldiers who fought the Germans during the war for their persistent aversion to modern Germans and Germany.  “They are a new people, nothing to do with the 30s and 40s”, I said.

It feels a bit ridiculous holding a grudge against Atletico.  Their achievement last night, and this season so far, has been fantastic.  Against the most powerful foes, they might just win the hardest league in the world and the Champions League.  This late in the season, that is a stunning prospect to still be on the table. They should be an inspiration to us all.

I see the media is (responsibly) alerting Celtic shareholders to the threat of a share scam apparently being perpetrated against unsuspecting fans by spivs and criminals.  Where were they in December 2012?

The dilemma of the day. Stay in and watch Dundee Hibs V Sevco, could be interesting or get on the bike and head off on a long cycle trip ?

  2. The two spelling mistakes are obviously Freudian . The `right` was because I want the right result and `cam` because I might suspect that their `keeper was a little worried about facing a rampant United 0:-)

As most will be aware, back in November, over £1300 was raised on CQN and in behalf of HCPT group 77, of which my daughter Laura is a member of.

This £1300, has allowed full funding for 2 desperately needy children to travel to Lourdes for the full Easter Week, on Pilgrimage with Group 77 of which Laura will be a full time carer, and is so excited about.

A young 14 year old boy will have the time of his life accompanied by Laura ( will not put up details on him, or the other child) with numerous other Children on this fantastic trip.

Now as a thanks to CQN, and for those who would appreciate

Laura will happily take names or photo’s of those dearest to you and who have been lost, and whom you would like prayed for at Lourdes Grotto, their names or photo will be placed at the Grotto with the visit, these are collected daily and prayed for.

The exact same offer is open for those who you would like added to the Daily petition Prayer box, who desperately need the help of both “Our Lady of Lourdes” and Prayers to support them through current difficult times

You can drop Laura a message on HCPT77@hotmail.co.uk where arrangements can be agreed

Thanks Again to CQN for supporting this brilliant opportunity for those in desperate need

Be interesting to see the letter from Biggart Bailie to Dave King.

will also be interesting to see how many teddy bears sign up to put season ticket money into a holding account for as long as it takes to liquidate the currents. Or would it be admin with Dave forcing a sale to him?

It’s the equivalent of running an alternative bus right at the same time as the competitor but this time with no actual bus to get on.

I fear Dave May crash and burn on this one.

Good morning from a very sunny Nordrhein Westfalen, I’ve been tasked to mow the lawn this morn, I use that term loosely as there is more moss than grass.

I don’t normally watch the zombies but there promises to be side splitting entertainment this afternoon.

Ha! Like you; I have been “asked” to mow the moss here in Saarland also!

Our own Joe doing a lot to make the dream of staying up for the first time. I had hopes Paul Lambert’s season would have been a good one but nothing to write home about. Have a good one mate.

  16. Whilst I remember (rant alert!!) I’m getting really cheesed off with the obsession over empty seats at Celtic Park.

Now I am a ‘glass half full’ guy, always have been. For most of my formative years I grew up believing that a 30,000 attendance at Celtic Park was a very good crowd. For the more important league games we’d maybe top the 40,000 mark and, when we played them it’d be 60,000 – 70,000.

Our old stadium’s capacity was, I think, 92,000. I never ever heard anyone going on about the 60,000+ empty standing spaces?

Hugh Keevins regularly goes on about “30,000 empty seats”. This may be factually correct. But what point is he trying to make? If we had developed our stadium even further, extending the Main Stand and increasing capacity to say 75,000 then using Hugh’s arguments our attendances would be even poorer – 45,000 empty seats. Absolute rubbish!!

Most weeks our home league attendance is within the top 5 or 6 in the UK. Given where we are in terms of the UK as a whole I think that’s fantastic.

I go to the games because I like to watch Celtic play. I go to be entertained. I don’t understand the logic of the suggestion that more people would visit Celtic Park to see us play St Johnstone if there was another SPF top league game going on featuring “The Rangers”.

Rant over…going to vigourously clean an oven!!!

Oh and it’s been raining for an hour or so. Grrrrrrrrr

A team of youngster’s playing today, against a group of win at all costs peepol. Get the hard early tackles in against the boys, don’t worry no bookings the first fifteen mins for us, get them retaliating, see how the ref deals with that side for cards for the boys. Red probably.

There’s only one way to stop a Utd win today and it ain’t by playing football, Sevco must win and probably will….!

    Maybe I’m just preparing myself

Things would have been very different if Celtic had did the job and won at home against Aberdeen who are by no means certain to beat THEM in the final.
