Magic money, Longmuir, Ahmad

BDO’s survey of British football clubs suggests control, if not complete sanity, has descended on Scottish football.  Most Premiership clubs surveyed predicted they would return to profitability over the next year.

On the back of Phil Mac Giolla Bhain’s article on former Scottish Football League chief exec David Longmuir’s bonuses, which are no longer payable, these are heady days for some clubs who have lived hand-to-mouth stuffing pork into Longmuir’s trough.  You better believe it’s financial Armageddon, for the former SFL man. The SFA will surely insist on inappropriate financial stain is left on our game.

Anyway………. It seems if I explain the structural gap between Rangers International’s earnings through season ticket sales and the costs of operating a football club which can facilitate circa 40,000 spectators on a regular basis, we can all figure why the gap cannot be bridged.  We are different because despite having enormously higher football costs, we can access enormously higher revenue streams.

On the other hand, explaining that Celtic’s operational costs need to be augmented by player sales and/or Champions League income, just to break even, and that player sales and/or Champions League income cannot exclusively be used for player purchases, amounts to a heresy against deeply held orthodox views.

Add in a reminder about the strategy which has made all the difference to Celtic – buying wisely, selling wisely, and sit back to watch a secular belief structure ignore the ‘every penny to be spent’ prediction and vent as though their deity has just been denied.

This stuff’s complicated, apparently, but paying attention to financial detail is not a required Obligation to support Celtic, so if it doesn’t float your boat, I’d start by demanding to know where all the Seville money went to….

I hear the Daily Record accompanied their – Imran Ahmad to sue Rangers International for £3.4m – story with a completely baseless story about Celtic losing out on the only transfer target they know about.  They were wrong on some of the Ahmad story (Charles Green may have produced the documents Ahmad would rely on in court, but suggestions they are in concert on this claim are wildly inappropriate).  Still, it plays into current orthodoxy on Charles Green.

Going on what they’ve written, they know nothing about Celtic’s transfer negotiations either.  Absolutely squat.  Percentage of Celtic fans who know the media’s game: 100%.  Percentage of Celtic fans who allow themselves to be influenced despite knowing the above……?

If these people have you panicking, look elsewhere for sympathy.  We have a team building strategy, it has delivered well thus far and it will continue to do so.  Buy wisely, sell wisely, spend every penny over a given business cycle.  Pretty straightforward, really.

By leaving it to a just a possible wild card signing as noted on CQN yesterday, not ideal to if you sign a player and throw him straight into Aberdeen game then flight to Karagandy or just throw him in to Karagandy. IF we sign someone before this tie.

  11. estadio – as i commented earlier celtic will be in a much stronger position to negotiate after we get through this play-off. in competitive games so far we have a 80% win ratio. not overly concerned regards this playoff, over 2 legs we will have enough to see them off.

Aberdeen game will be a weakened side due to long haul, why do we have to suddenly get a player in for this weekend. win, lose or draw against aberdeen, not overly concerned, season is 38 games long, we will be top come end of season. we buy players on our terms, at a price we consider to be right for us and on our wage structure not the players agent trying to screw us over due to perceived desperation.

On that note there is is a major symposium of illuminati on FF calling for FIFA to intervene in the Italy v. Argentina scandal. They are, as you indicate, also ruminating on the wider issue of religion and football:

    “There wasn’t any until 1888.”

    ——

“When did religious actions such as crossing oneself become part of the game and has it been sanctioned by the authorities?”

    ——

“i read in a book recently[I’m prepared to accept someone may have read it to you] (possibly bobby lennox’s?) that on european nights celtic offer the services of a priest to the officials if they are from a “catholic” country. i.e. spain, italy, etc. yet the scottish media scum remain silent.”

    ——

“No problems with religion anywhere in England or Wales; because no football clubs in these countries were formed to promote Roman Catholicism.”

    ——

‘Remember when Scottish politicians and the football authorities were spending thousands of pounds on adverts and initiatives in schools to help ” take religion out of Scottish football ” ? Shellik played their part in response by building a statue outside The Piggery to honour a religious bigot, their goalie took to wearing Pope t-shirts and blessing himself, not forgetting Shellik demanding that the SFA hold a minute silence before a Cup-tie to commemorate a dead Pope.

    The mhedia said nothing’

    ——

“If you recall the night before Septic beat the greatest football team the World has ever seen.

Septic and Barca Officials had a whatever it is they do down the Calton,

It was read out with gusto by the narrator when showing the party in the chapel.

It disgusts me that they promote this in the name of football.”

    ——

“I’ve always understood that a number of clubs emerged in the late 19th century that had religious or church origins (Aston Villa and Everton being other examples).

Celtic certainly took this to the extreme and was established as a means of keeping the local Catholic population away from Protestant soup kitchens. It was about segregation from the outset.”

    ——

“The club revoked the no catholics policy in 1989, it needed to be done, most associated with RFC have moved on and care not a jot about which flavour of sky pilot people pray to.

WHY did it need to be done?

And in what way have Rangers fans ‘moved on’ because we have signed ‘Shettleston’s’ along the way?

Explain to me how Rangers signing a RC has moved me on as a person?”

This one is regarded by his fellow academics as a holder of orthodox views.

  16. Imagine prior to the Champions League group stages a group of Celtic season ticket holders got together and formed themselves into the Celtic Players No 6 Brigade and approached the club and asked to be seated together. The club grant the request and the No 6 thank them dutifully buy their packages and inform the club they will police their own wee section themselves. Come match day 1 the No 6 Brigade turn up armed with their old CSA scarves and other paraphernalia from the 60s 70s and 80s and create a tremendous wee atmosphere . However as the match reaches the 80 minutes mark with the scores tied at 0-0 and after singing their hearts out and coughing their lungs up the No6 Brigade as can be expected are truly nervous. So to a man they all light up thinking that acting as a group they are individually invisible. The stewards approach and ask them to stub them out only to be met with the “get lost” or “eff off” approach to supporter/club relations.

Match day 2 comes about and the previous scenario occurs and rather than send in the stewards the club request the assistance of the police. The police are a wee bit more robust as they aren’t on £7 an hour and a few of the No6 Brigade are ejected from the stadium. The club write to the No 6 Brigade and ask them to comply with the law and stadium regulations. British and American Tobacco take up the case and organise a rally to the old Wills factory on the parade highlighting the victimisation of the No6 Brigade. A spokesman for the No6 demand a smoking section be east abolished at Celtic Park in order to facilitate the group.

Match day 3 comes about and the situation deteriorates as Celtic needing only 1 point to qualify as group winners face Real Madrid who need the win too qualify. The No6 cannot suffer the tension and resort to type and spark up right from the off as do the Ducados Brigade of the Madristas. The Uefa observer at the game because of the fug created is unable to observe wether the players shirts are tucked into their shorts or not,the club is reported to Uefa and subsequently fined the equivalent of 1000 sleeves of Benson and Hedges. Celtic qualify with the point needed

The club act immediately and state that the No 6 Brigade will be offered seats elsewhere in the stadium and the No6 section will be closed down.

Come match day 4 at Celtic Park the No6 Brigade are there as before supporting Celtic all over the stadium however they have had to resort to annoying supporters in lavvies all around the ground rather than having their own wee smoking section and annoying those in close proximity

Yes, this is very harsh decision. We have not been warned, banned for using the flares before.

    What decision that was?

Imagine it’s CL play off game, your opponents are higher in rankings and UEFA closes your North Stand.

I watched Steaua Bucarest last Sunday playing derby game against Dynamo Moscow and they looked similar to Spartak Moscow. Similar class, similar type of the game. I had high hopes for Legia going through but UEFA decision and possibly poor support without Ultras may have bad consequences for my team.

Strange decision in my opinion. The game was in Wrexam and Legia had no influence on who was at the game in Wales. Everybody could be there. Legia stadium regulations are very radical and people get banned for small deliquiencies against regulations. At least they were banned in the past, even for swearing.
