You and I have been in some dark places. While we remember winning nine-in-a-row by brilliant scouting, tactics and athletic endeavour, we also remember when that proud achievement was violated in 1997 by a considerably less wholesome achievement.
At the end of season 1995-96 Celtic finished second but lost only one game. I convinced myself that our world was about to be put right. Tommy Burns’ team would go one step further and win the league in 1997; it had to happen.
It didn’t.
Today I don’t want to talk about the reasons why we didn’t win the league in 1997, we will discuss that in the weeks ahead, but that season taught us the lesson that simply wanting something to happen doesn’t make it likely.
I thought of those dark days yesterday when I hear Ally McCoist’s rallying call:
“We’re going to march right through it
“I’m as positive today as I have been in a long time.
“This institution has been around for 140 years and I want it to be here for another 140 years.
“You’ll see what Rangers mean to so many people. We are really looking forward to the game.
“We have the best fans in the world.
McCoist loves his club the same way his good friend Tommy Burns loved his, but irrespective of the challenge he faces in the league from Neil Lennon’s awesome team, there is nothing McCoist can do to ensure his club survives until the end of the season.
When you’re on the wrong end of history there is nothing you can do about it.

From a story on the BBC.
I think that this clarifies that HMRC would go for a winding up order should Rangers lose the Big tax case in April. This admin event is only designed to get some pence in the pound for the £9m owed.
———————————————————————————————
Mr Clark said he had been in discussion with HMRC on Saturday morning, as part of ongoing talks.
The club is also involved in a tribunal over a disputed tax bill dating back to before the Whyte era which totals an estimated £49m.
A ruling on this is expected in the coming weeks, but the administrators revealed it was likely to be April before Rangers find out the outcome of the HMRC case.
Mr Clark added: “What they asked us to point out is that had they wished to close the football club then rather than issue the administration application that they did last week, it would have been a winding up petition to the court.
“So this is not about liquidation, it’s about survival of the football club and we’ll be working with them with that in mind.”
Parched….
Sore napper…..and an unmistakable yearning for fryed cow product?
Yup.
All hangover boxes ticked.
(still laughin’ tho…..)
A morning spent in the glorious sunshine of the Rebel County planting hellebores and taxus baccata
Yew know it makes sense…..
Now for a quick readback…

surreal seeing my name credited with a couple of articles such as the abyss in the cqn mag. I was 28 when Fergus bought Celtic so I am claiming copyright on my name. Not sure of the other tony Mac’s poster name, hope we have been in agreement in any cyber debates.
Mr Clark playing about with tenses to confuse the media –
“What they asked us to point out is that had they wished to close the football club then rather than issue the administration application that they did last week, it would have been a winding up petition to the court.
So, if this was the big tax case they would have applied for a winding up order. Come the big tax case the same creditors will not be around – ie Whyte and HMRC get more from the assests that may or may not be left.
So all you buyers of the big o tree … the game is the same minus the £18m owed. Anyone out there want to own a club with a potential £50m deficit and no season ticket income and no European football and a question mark over domestic competition?
Top of the morning to you all from a bright, blue-skied Fife. The weather is absolutely party-perfect .
I won’t be at the game in person I will be there in spirit.
For those who go there, I hope you enjoy the game but keep safe the same police officers who stood by yesterday will intervene today. It would be nice if the party songs were all about ice-cream and jelly.
This has been a momentous week in the history of Scottish football so let’s hope the bhoys can do it justice today and put the cherry on top of the iced-bun.
H.H.
P.S. Off to Youtube for some Jelly-Roll Morton
Can anyone advise me as to why the big tax case outcome is taking so long? What is the reason for this? Legal? Political? Jist becoz????

Revenge.
IMO CW wants HMRC to liquidate .
If HMRC know this then why would they ,as has been said they want as much as their 9m back as possible .Then the steak will hit the heart.
Duff and dumber have traced the ticketus money to a lawyers bank account Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Did a disgraced law firm not get wound up last week Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm,I wonder .
The goings on over Govan way are a complete and utter disgrace .One thing is for sure any newco slithering it’s way back into the SPL (with the aid
of a rule change by the peepil)could never utter the word DIGNITY again
hail hail

Revenge is a dish best served cold
a bit like jelly and ice cream.
Come on the Hoops.
like a lot of people I have started listening to the phone ins again, they are still irritating but a lot of comedy gold just now. Just typed wee shugs surname into touchpad and it kept giving the option of a person from the Greek island of lesbos ! The guy from Aberdeen who called in was bang on, not wee Hugh, let them rot ………. Talking of comedy gold, go into YouTube and type in celticminded rangers go into administraion
Twisty – just because. These rulings regularly take months

Is the one to go that they refer to not Hearts, their biggest rivals ??
fergus slayed the blues,
The big prize for us is the big tax case. this is just a fire drill at the moment
Thing is, if it goes against them we here from master Whyte that HMRC will appeal, appeal and appeal again.
That can’t be good news for a new owner.
Craig Whyte and co have made a lot of money very very quickly out of the stupidty of their supporters and the
mainstream media and it is wonderful to watch. He has also deleted any possibility of Rangers being anything
like as successful as they have been for the next 3 years due to his deal with ticketus.
The big prize for us is proof that the old Rangers guard where cheating. Neil Lennon seems confident.
Thought McMoisty was having a heart attack here! Cause he ain’t got no DIGNITY ;-)
Re the bigot fest rally yesterday
I must admit ,when I heard they were making it a full (big) house and all getting behind Sally and the team .
I thought the team would run riot in response .
The fact they lost 1-0 and Killie could have been 4 up by half time ,tells me they are finished .I expect ragers to go into total free fall
and the hordes will disappear like snow of a dyke (they don’t do 2nd ).
Does anyone think the Mayans were ragers supporters and it was their world that was coming to an end in 2012 .
In fact I think I may refer to the ragers as the Mayans from now on
hail hail
here= hear. a whyte typo error
Fergus. re. DIGNITY More like DIGNITAS all self assisted.
Sunshine on Leith……it’s going to be a great day……
Great article posted by Rashers Tierney @ 5:51. Well worth a repost.
What do Fred the Shred and Sir David Tell us About Scotland?
Lubo.
Burnley78
It said OF GTF. The banner refers to us.
They can’t stand us they just don’t hate us as much as some.
Lubo: Angry Walrus made me laugh…..again.
Good start to the day. Many thanks

These rulings can and sometimes do take up to 12 months from point of close of tribunal.
Decision will have been made. It’s the legal wording and reporting, i dotting and t crossing, that strings it out apparently. Obviously they don’t want to leave any of thei conclusions open to question.

(singing) Oh what a beautiful morning!
Oh what a beautiful day!
I’ve got the funniest feeling, everything’s going our way.
How tediously, bone-achingly predictable – they sang the Billy Boys.
It seems to be getting forgotten that McCoist is a gash manager. We be better not mentioning it.
Stokes to play and score three.
Hail hail
Rangers FC PLC (in administration) in crisis.
Supporters organise a demonstration along Edminson Drive in protest.
Do the
Rangers Supporters Trust
Rangers Assembly
Rangers Supporters Association
Lead the protest
No!
The ICF (The Inter City Firm / Rangers Casuals) lead the protest.
That is all anyone who doesn’t already know about that institution needs to know.
Says it all really.

So will the SFA/UEFA be coming down on the songbook as reputed by a number of the MSM publications today or do they get special dispensation due to their current problems? I’ll not hold my breath.

Buona Domenica tutti . Cold and grey , way down south.
Yesterday ——
Walk past Bookies window in Catania @ 4.50 pm Sicialian time . Results screen says –
Rangers Glasgow 1 – Kilmarnock 1.
2 hours later – Walk past Bookies window in Siracusa . Results screen says –
Rangers Glasgow -0 – Kilmarnock 1..
Quick check to verify .
Nice !.
Perfect result for the We don’t walk away mob. —— Walking to their own funeral.
No to Newco.!
There is a hun rumour that their ST’s are about to be rendered invalid for the rest of the season.
Plenty more laughs to be had yet, bhoys!

IMO CW was planted in there and the one/ones who planted him knew exactly what he would do with the club
He may have been given assurances that the MSM would not give him any problems ,what he may not have bargained on
was the scrutiny from the new media .
I Hope the fraud squad are digging deep in this one ,follow follow the money and the truth will out .
The administrators are like a band aid on a slit throat ,the fact that they seem to have previous with CW does not sit well with me .
IMO the only way Mayan fc will be a viable business is with all debts and commitments to future revenue streams gone .
If they can get a handshake on re entry to the spl DEBT FREE then all the better .
Then you will see the real potential buyers marching from the shadows
As I said I hope the fraud squad are digging deep as ,what would happen if it was found that any of the missing money found it way back to bankrolling
any newco .Now that really would be a scandal …………WOULDN’T IT
hail hail
Big Swee,
Cheers but it’s not my work. Someone else deserves the credit for it.

I know they were in attendance yesterday and had the stupidity to announce it with a banner but where did you hear that?
@ fergus – if so, we’ll soon see how “loyal” they are.
My guess, not very.
