McGhee, the old faux

504

Mark McGhee put on a stunning display as a faux hard man last night. After being escorted from the touchline by a police officer at Pittodrie, the Motherwell manager didn’t take well to his antics being recorded for posterity on video by an Aberdeen fan.

His unfocussed irritation transformed into confrontational anger towards the fan, but only after McGhee had made eye contact with a rapidly approaching Aberdeen official, who was a split second from intervening on his behalf.

This is the offline equivalent of the keyboard hard man. It’s just someone working through their issues in what feels like a real confrontation, but is actually relatively safe environment. Mark just needs a hug. Hug Mark, if you see him.

Speaking to the media afterwards McGhee then went into full irony mode:

“I’m absolutely disgusted and horrified by the attitude of the fourth official. Before a ball was kicked, he was causing issues that didn’t exist.”

Like creating a scene when a visiting goalkeeper warms up in front of his assigned goals, perhaps. There followed an explicit threat to get his lawyers involved, which is almost certainly faux bluster.

Many years ago Dundee United and Scotland assistant manager Jim McLean resigned from his SFA post when he ran into conflict with the Association. McGhee should consider doing likewise this morning. But first he needs a hug. Someone?

Great to see Ryan Christie making his mark at Aberdeen, the finish for his goal last night is worth catching, if you haven’t see it yet.

Beatbhoy …. I am about to do a very long rant … but first… what is your address, so I can send my bill? :)

Sandman … your a tim. how could she not be charmed?

but my memory is fine … the connections was both, Ms. Grogan and Mr. McElhone were in Altered Images… after which, Mr. McE moved into Hipsway, after which, he moved into Texas… with Ms. Spiteri … hence the ‘reunion concert idea… and the Bluebells because Ms. Grogan was in their video… and I just like them! .

Just in and turned on the TV to see Gent v Spurs. I mind travelling to see Celtic playing there in 1984 in a fairly run down stadium that was on a par with Fir Park of the same era. Looks a bit swisher now. Highlight of that trip was seeing the trouble in Dublin the night before our game – guess who the visitors were?

And now a fairly good nature gripe.

Legend. The overuse of the word in connecttion with former Celts thereod

Legends should apply to Brother Walfrid, Maley, Stein, Quinn, McGrory, Gallagher, Thomsin, Tully, Big Billy, Johnstone, Larssson for sure. The 66/7 Squad as well- aye and Sean and Smiler too. Tommy Burns – yip obviously. Men who achieved and who did something that made the fans love them pretty much whatever. There are others I guess but this word should be applied to a select few. The creme de la creme de la creme.

I saw an ad today promoting an event which made me fair beeling. The ad described a number of former Celtic players as ‘legends’ . I mean Tom Boyd I can just about take but Alan Stubbs? Tommy Johnson? Regi Blinker?. I mean these guys all had their moments but they were not ‘legends’ or anything like it. Because you played for Celtic does not qualify you as a legend. Give it time and the word will be applied to Xheng Zi.

As I say this is a good matured rant, my anger faux. But I care about things like this. Which is possibly why women cannot be bothered with me.

    Rant over

Well Donald Trumps press conference has just been described as jaw-dropping but Dermott Murnaghan.

He has just slaughtered the press, said the level of dishonesty was out of control.

I didn’t see it all but irrespective of his message (some of which was in fact reasonable) he handled the press extremely well!

    One to watch later.

Best Scottish voice, Annie Lennox, no contest.

Wilson decides to re-write history (not for the first time) on beeb website.

Apparently Warburton “faltered in his last 14 months as manager”.

Hmmm – let’s think back to the start of the season. Did we hear:

Warburton’s record has been really poor these last six months, “Rangers” will struggle in the Premiership.

Warburton’s record has been really poor these last six months, “Rangers” will be nowhere near Celtic.

Warburton’s record has been really poor these last six months, if “Rangers” are to have any chance of making the top six they will have to get in a new manager.

“Rangers” may have won promotion, but their poor finish to the season is worrying. If they can’t beat Falkirk or Morton they will have no chance against the likes of Ross County and Kilmarnock.

Funnily enough I don’t remember ANY of that…

Superglue- I suggest you go to a pvcu fascia pl. It will be unbranded ( cheaper) and get the spray activator with it. You will need to be accurate as you don’t get a second chance to align the parts, but it goes off in seconds

  13. Saw some talk earlier of Glesga’ bamds and surprised that no-one mentioned the excellent Gun. Jules and Dante would be a bit put out, if either of them were looking in, which wouldn’t surprise me.

Mike in Toronto , the Bluebells’ single Cath, was inspired by Clare Grogan’s sister, Kathleen who I think went out with one of the McLuskey’s or Bobby Hodgens from the Blubells.

Bobby was a bluenose when he was younger until he realised catholics weren’t meant to support what was Rangers.

In the mid eighties, David and Kenny McLuskey did a lot gigs as a folk band. Any gig I saw them , they always started it with the splendid John McLean march.

Cavedom is fine, weather is warming up. during the day anyways, still much rain to be had but it will be over soon enough.

Haven’t seen it here as yet, seen it online but it costs more to ship it that the product, I will try what Weevincywoking said to do, thanks btw, I need a fair bit of it and paying 100 or so euros seems daft when an unbranded one would cost about 20 and will do the job, but the cheap garbage from China is a total and complete waste of money.

I may have mentioned this young lady before … but, if not, give this a listen ….one of my favourite, but unheralded, scottish bands … Julia and the Doogans … similar wistful poppy folk feel to a lot of the 80’s glasgow sound ….

    WITS,

Of course you do, who’d win a fight between you and Stoksey and who’d make the most money out of that fight.

Personally I believe Stokesy was vilified by the same organisations who vilify him in Scotland, I beleive this was carried over to the freestate through a common meeja agenda. For me it displays the power of the meeja that it influences the judiciary and that it will drag the freestate into further euro sceptic arguments because the UK always tries to drag everyone close to it, down to its level. All the dirty tricks in the meeja book will be used, the Masonic tendencies you discussed recently in regards to the Garda and Govt cover ups displayed to me how much in common the leaders of both countries are.
