McInnes proves point with second win over Celtic

789

The clean sheet record had to go eventually, so I’m pleased it went to a good goal, not an error by Fraser, which would have been harsh on the big keeper.  Having already recorded Celtic’s, then Scotland’s league clean sheet record, the British and European records were within touching distance, but that is now a matter for next season.

Months ago, when Virgil van Dijk first suggested we could go through the league season without defeat I said we were not nearly consistent enough to achieve this.  Ironically, last night’s defeat came after a sustained period of consistent an authoritative performances, in the league.

Aberdeen will have lots of reasons to wonder where there team might go now, having beaten Celtic twice in a month.  Amid all the newspaper talk in 2012 that Celtic needed their soon to be liquidated opponent, a few of us suggested that what Celtic really need is an opponent, and that Aberdeen, playing to a captive audience in a wealthy city, were the most likely candidates.

Manager, Derek McInnes, knows he does not have the resources to compete over a league programme, but he has proven a few points:  he knows how to beat Celtic and his team are the best of the rest.

If Aberdeen can cope with the vagaries of trips to Easter Road and Victoria Park next season, four games against Celtic will take care of themselves.  Let’s hope Newco Rangers don’t nip in and buy their best players with that non-emergency £1.5m loan.

The immediate challenge for Celtic is to get back into winning form on Saturday.  League Cup finalists, Inverness, will come to make up the numbers.

Dumping over 150 mill is no easy task, it takes a lot of planing, and they needed a lot of help. which they got from all parties.

Celtic don’t need to do anything to keep the support above 20,000, the supporters who don’t go for the million shit reasons they come up with to justify no going need to get off there arses and go and support the team there ment to support, that would keep the attendances above 20,000. The guys who don’t go are a embarrassment to Celtic

the emergence of vvd, biton and Johansson is great

biton, jo and brown in the mf, should allow NFL to set up a 4-3-3 switching to 4-5-1 i.e to add more pace/ creativity

    Awe Naw

I remember it well from the old RTC days.

However, the post and the conclusions were not quite correct.

The verifiable source as I recall was a tax return or assessment which subsequently played a substantial part in bringing King to book in South Africa.

King effectively ploughed money into the Rangers Group an in return received shares.

However, the investment was an attempt to launder money which he had not declared — effectively money that never existed.

Of course the stupid man then had it declared all over the papers that he had invested £20M in Rangers.

The SA tax man was somewhat interested in how he did this as he was not declaring tax in that country and as far as they were concerned he did not have the £20M to invest.

So– what they did next was raise an assessment which showed income or income value to the tune of £20M vis Rangers Football Club and they then claimed the tax on this.

The quandry for King was then how to explain why he should not pay tax on this windfall which he had received for nothing OR explain just how and from where he had invested £20M in Rangers.

He did not in fact get his money back ( do you honestly think Minty was in the business of taking money off folk and then giving it back? — go ask ENIC! ) but did have to pay tax on the source of the income.

I think he later had a gripe with how the money was spent and about the information coming from the Murray Group which persuaded him to make the investment in the first place.

It did look as if he got the money back– but instead it was just a clever move by the tax man who then forced him into explaining just how he had acquired what appeared to be tax free and gratis shares– In SA at least.

    TET,

indeed they are and there is nothing we can do about it.

As long as we are under the misrule of the SFA and the Scottish Establishment, we will be victims.

Also, as long as fans are prepared to invest in the Scottish game, it will always be thus.

Would our support be prepared to starve the club into making radical decisions? I don ‘t think so.

Is there any issue that would motivate our fans to take that kind of drastic action, apart from PL ‘s bonus?

Personally, I believe that the club do wish to kick the dust from their boots and get out ; but, how garden are they trying.

Would the fans still turn up in numbers if we were in the second or third tier of the English game?

  11. Bhoylo83, I actually don’t know, sorry, I think Paul67 will put that at the end of tomorrow’s leader. I’m just doing the pre-launch advertising.

  12. I’m with all of that sftb, so well put and imho, many forget we are the spl and the spl is us, so we live by what the conditions of spl dictates and nothing else, if it is a giant cash cow so will be, if it’s a small resource strapped league, so we will be but we will also be celtic always

what happened to the Maley money?

Honest answer I could not tell you.

My guess is that it went into some already very well lined pockets.

About the time Fergus was making takeover moves, Michael Kelly who eventually did pretty well out of Celtic, was promising to tell us where every penny had went.

I don’t recall him getting round to it.

  22. Bonjour la classe !!!

I am very late to the debrief but have a few thoughts on last night. Here they come, mon copains in Celtic………

Griffiths will become a Celtic striking legend, he is a natural, with the insatiable hunger all great strikers have

Forrest is the equal of Theo Walcott in ability, pace and goalscoring but if we can never get him fit for 20 plus games in succession, his talents will wither on the vine

Stokes worked hard, except for when he jogged out to close down McGinn’s cross at 2nd goal, but his decision making is poor – he’ll be remembered for making a contribution to Celtic, little more.

Biton is a gem – intelligent, two footed, composed and good passer.

Scott Browns desire, attitude, fitness, sharpness, hunger eclipsed all the players on the field; multiplied by ten and times a hundred. His second half performance was marvellous.

Less said about Craig Thompson the better

Most of the above makes me a happy clapper – I thought it was a great game.
