  1. Btw the way see if you haven’t calmed down by now and you’re still genuinely angry. Your priorities are possibly a bit flawed.

  2. In fact if any manager can’t make a difference to how their team perform – why do we have Managers at all ( discuss Plato style)

  3. Turkeybhoy on 22nd October 2015 11:24 pm

I give in you are a genius and I am deluded. You must be of the same mind as the genius who appointed Ronny in the first place, and I must be a deluded Celtic fan who cannot see that it is nothing to do with the manager when the team fails consistently against meagre opposition.

  4. As I said. 9 months till CL qualifying

We need a goal scorer and CH and left back min

We will 100% not get that with lawell

If fans boycotted all goods tomorrow then PL will be gone. If we continue to Spin for PL ( take note paul67) we will have another disaster CL and then no players to make up the loss

Then debt debt debt and no team

    Lawell out now

  5. ‘Which is only your opinion. Please do not confuse that with fact. It’s not. Your opinion on that is no more, or less, correct than anyone elses.’

Nail, head and all that stuff. Even putting the word fact as FACT at the end of a sentence does not make it so. It just makes it your opinion with the word fact at the end of it.

The above quote was stolen from the ‘bold’ p8ddy!

  6. A Ceiler Gonof Rust on

Beefheart: Collins got to the semi final of the CL. KC hasn’t.

    …………..

So by using the beefhead logic neither George Best or Ryan Giiggs were decent players because lesser players played in the WC and they didn’t. Your logic is illogical.

    ………..

Cowiebhoy, of course I’m seriously pissed off with what I watched tonight but I’ll see you there on Sunday to cheers us on in the league…………….and cheer on Kris Commons and boo John Collins.

  7. Well thats it,off to bed.I will leave the RD haters to it.No matter what line up,formation, tactics were used tonight,if players cant do their jobs properly, the result will always be the same.Defeat.

But please, dont let me interupt your wee tantrums any longer.

    Hail Hail.

Just seen OGS there. He said Celtic dominated the game, but his defence only made one mistake.

  8. What is the Stars on

Its not Ronny’s fault….the players dont understand his ‘fast attacking football’ ahem !!!

Its not Ronnys fault…he hasnt got the players to play his system. ahem!!!

Its not Ronnys fault…he hasnt been able to build his team, with players who understand his system and can play to his instructions..ahem!!!

Its not Ronnys fault..blah blah blah

Enough already!!!! as my old jewish grandmother from brooklyn used to say

The last line is a lie

    Actually its all baloney

  9. I have already posted all I want to say on the abject failure and disunity we witnessed tonight so the following is very much a secondary or side issue and is not meant to be competing with the analysis of the game (before I get accused of trying to distract or shape the agenda) , BUT……

Has anyone ever seen a good game of football on a plastic pitch?

I know the economic benefits of maintaining a good surface over heavy wear and tear and the economic benefits of the artificial turf allowing you to play on it 7 days a week, opening up to community involvement and all that. I also know that some grass surfaces like the recent Fir Park pitch and even the old CP mudbath games made silky football difficult.

But, apart from the 3 days a year where we get light winds, an absence of rain and decent temperatures in Northern Europe, the artificial pitches are badly affected by water, frost and wind leading to unpredictable bounce, poor control and a need to change your usual game play style.

I know that the Celtic and Molde players are not as bad as that pitch, under those conditions, made them look but, honestly, I would never have developed an interest in watching the sport of football if that was the standard I watched regularly. That would get football stopped.

I have never seen a really good game at Hamilton’s pitch even though, on a fine summer’s day, some passages of play can be reasonable. It is a long time since we saw a good game at Killie, which used to have a great pitch. I know the importance and the awfulness of tonight’s game is clouding my judgement but I really do not believe that football at the elite level can thrive on these surfaces.

We should start a breakaway league under a Campaign for real Pitches.

  10. Captain Beefheart on

Given that the hapless Cifci has scored two goals more than me for Celtic, those Turkish Airlines ads are particularly galling tonight. Michael O’Leary doesn’t seem so bad now.

    The_Huddle…

You post lots of words yet dance around the answer, you are saying that no player can be judged better than another because it’s all about opinions??

Nope. That’s categorically not what I’m saying.

    Is that concise enough?

Was Jinky better than Owen Archdeacon? Certainly. How do we prove it? Silverware, games played, goals scored (even if Oweny’s corker against Rangers will live in my heart till the day I die). There’s a gulf.

Collins vs Commons? Similar number of games, Commons has more goals, more silverware and is certainly less selfish.

Despite the above, and my unwillingness to indulge in a ‘Naw he’s better’ pointless dispute you continue. Fuelled it seems simply by the arrogant assumption that “I think, therefore it’s fact”. I think Commons is the better of the two, but they’re close enough to render it a silly and futile discussion. It’s subjective and it’s a waste of both of our times when we could be discussing more important matters – which could range from ‘paint drying’ to ‘why are Celtic cannon fodder in Europe again?’

The Cure are better than Depeche Mode. Prove me wrong! Robert Smith is cooler than Dave Gahan! See where I’m going with this?

    ————-

That’s maybe the issue I don’t think it’s even close between Collins and Commons (despite goals, medals etc), you think there is, so we’ll leave it.

And Depeche Mode are quite clearly better

  12. I actually felt sick watching the game such was my level of anger and frustration, having read back 29 pages I see I am not the only one.

Conditions did not help as we seem incapable of adapting or changing any game plan.

Craig Gordon should have done better goals 1 and 3,although Lustig poor at 3 and Izzy turned his back at 2.

I do not think we have improved over the past 18 months and we do not seem any fitter and faster or capable of sustaining pressure play than many others, nor does Ronnie,or JC,or JK seem capable of deep analytical preparation and alternative plans should circumstances change.

Tonight soon as park deteriorated play Cifti and Griffiths in 18 yrd box and go route one, johansen off.

I like Chris Commons and I would have taken SJ off instead of him, however I am unsure if his show of petulance was for the team or was it mischievous to put pressure on some who he is at odds with.

Irrespective that was not acceptable as it gives ammunition to those already enjoying the score.

On the subject of replacement Mgrs, dont forget when MON was here Peter Lawell was seldom heard of,hence the reason to maintain his high profile any appointment will be subserviant to him,had that not been the case we would now have Roy Keane. So what does that do to the list of hopefuls ( If required )

I wont add to the JC vs KC relative merits as I respect the views of many of the posters, and after tonight dont have any fight left, bit like the bloody team.

  13. I have been a fan of Ronny. when everyone was giving him it before Christmas last year I liked what I was seeing. however the constant hassle from Sutton (why not play commons) and the press and (in my opinion) an easily lead fan base has lead to his promising ideas being reduced to a directionless failure. his performance post match was an embarrassment. in the early days of this blog I was one of the few Strachan fans. two last 16 in champions league! Most successful period of the modern format. you need to watch what you wish for. but that said time for Ronny to go based solely on tonight and that interview. he’s lost his mojo and no wonder with some of the shit he’s had to put up with.

  14. Been shot down on here often by volunteering my opinion that this is the worst Celtic squad in living memory.

Their gormless ineptitude is matched by the Board and Management team.

Get Henke as manager and a defence coach in NOW….

Get Lawell and Delia to feck….

    Before it’s too late…..

Liam Brady and Tony Mowbray’s Celtic sides would have wiped the fekin floor with The Gormless Roar and his team….

    EMBARRASSING

  15. Just to lighten the mood- Pakistani cricketer on SSN talking about catching problems due to there being ‘an awkward crack in my back’.

Interviewer says, ‘Is that not your arse?’.

  16. The_Huddle…

A manager can be great or awful but none of them can legislate for such awful player performances.

Yes they can. By not playing inferior players in the first place. Ronny isn’t only five minutes in the door. He’s had three transfer windows to sign and train players that won’t put in abject performances. Yet after 18 months we still persist with Ambrose.

And every time Ambrose turns in an abject performance we react with amazed surprise and say ‘the manager can’t legislate for a player being rubbish!’… It’s Lou Macari and Wayne Biggins all over again.

Neill Lennon was able to coax better results out of a squad with very similar limitations. Was it perfect? No. Were the results there? Far more so than with Ronny.

If you have a known bombscare in defence? Don’t play him. Sell him, free transfer him, sack him… anything. Just don’t keep trying to reinvent the wheel and hope that Tebilly or Ambrose will become Rio Ferdinand. He won’t.

jinkyredstar, bad management is responsible for virtually all of life’s major catastrophes, football included.

I liked John Collins as a player but I think he’s a dick. From what I’ve read and heard, his style of management leaves a lot to be desired. Some people are just not cut out for management, he strikes me as one of those people.

At least we have no excuse now for not winning the treble, notwithstanding bent hun referee’s.

I am not going to disagree or debate with any of your points

    And heading to my scratcher

    But

What do you think Ronny’s KPI’s will be ? Or KDI’s ( key Deliverables as team Manager) ?

How about PL’s as well ?

The most important thing in all of this? – we’re on the same side. Both rooting for Celtic. Different views, same aim.

Previous 2 games you could easily argue that the tactics were ok but individual errors proved costly.

When a whole team underperforms I think there’s probably an issue with the set-up/instructions.

We started brightly and looked like we were controlling the game. What happens? Same as many other games we too quickly get complacent and end up caught, We never recovered. That is also down to instruction/lack of belief.

  26. We are not improving.I agree.Not in Europe.It takes time,not a season and a half.

I would think that there is some improvement from,Neuchatel Xmax,Artmedia,Politechnica Timisoara,Antwerp,Sion, etc.Well not really improvement, but no worse.

Sad to say,I was at 3 of those.

  27. CultsBhoy likes living wage hates heated driveways on

Ronnie is popular – most of the Celtic fans I know really like him. It’s just that not many honestly rate him…

  28. Acceptable frustration on the pages tonight following the latest failure with some blaming individuals and formations ;none of these claims will actually rectify the problems…..which is,imo,…getting to the reasons why the team do not appear to perform adequately on simple matters of football..passing,marking,throw-ins,ball control etc. having spent 5 working days (that’s a lot of time) with coaches and management with an end result that resembles the standard of play witnessed tonight and several other occasions. What do they do? Methinks there has been a wee mini rebellion (we’re no daen that Ronni) …starring Charles,Anthony and Kris…fan power and bums on seats got the latter back …until tonight….the other two are history.

    Big decision time….it can’t continue , for Celtics sake…

Lustig- worst performance I’ve seen from him.

Boyata- more I see of him, less I think of him.

Izzy- Very bad, sluggish, positionally poor, distribution crap.

Efe- genuinely, what does he gave to do to be dropped?

Johansen- total and utter imposter. He shouldve volunteered to be subbed.

Brown and Bitton- couldn’t pass water tonight. Awful.

Deila- picked Efe, failed to sub anyone until 3/4 through the game, should have hooked Johansen, shouldnt have hooked Commons. I think I have given him enough of a chance.

    Out of his depth.

All of the above annoys me, but is more than counterbalanced by the appearance of Stan on BT. LOVED him as a player. Looking great Stylian!! His recovery puts my annoyance about tonight into perspective.
