  2. Here’s a thought why did DB feel he had to carry the ball 40 50 yards up the park yesterday?

    1. He thinks he Franz Beckenbauer

    2. He felt guilty for selling the first goal

    3. His MIDFIELD teammates weren’t showing for the ball:)))

I thought our midfield were as culpable as the defence last night and I still don’t really understand the “three” is it some kind of mystic conflagration like the Trinity:))

If Izzy is playing left wing why would SA be stuck out there as well? How many 10’s can you have in a three??

I thought our play improved when KC went off. Would it have improved even more if it was a different player that got subbed? Nobody knows. He lost the ball enough in the 1st half to not be absolved from blame for the position we found ourselves in.

He took his goal well but it’s worth remembering that it was the worst mistake in the game that led to it and not his own play.

Sorry what i saw was our only class player on the night show class, skill and composure to punish the opposition who made a dreadful error, he was the only real threat we had……………..why take him off ?

  4. Good morning CQNers,

Molde players were well drilled defensively, they broke with pace, intelligence and accuracy and most of all they took their chances.

Quite simply why can’t we do this?

  5. And I hate to say it….but it wont be too difficult for the huns next season.

By the looks of it….we wont have to be worrying about European performances in the next few seasons.

The current Celtic team are woeful……the huns will be rubbing their hoofs with glee, and who could blame them after watching that pub team performance last night.

No wonder KC went off his head.

  6. The booing of the substitution last night, plus comments online, and plus the few fans I’ve spoken to since, suggests to me that the tide has turned against Ronny.

No-one seems to understand what he was hoping to achieve with such a set up last night, many seem flabbergasted that some players play no matter how badly they play (Izzy, Johannsen, Efe, Gordon), and not one person I’ve spoken to recently has said they enjoy watching Celtic play like this – even when we are winning.

For me, however, the problem goes well beyond the manager. Even beyond Peter Lawwell, who is simply fulfilling the brief given to him by our all-powerful minority shareholder and disinterested absentee landlord.

I posted earlier that I spoke to a board member of the club a wee while ago who was mystified as to what the plan was for the club going forward. This is a member of the board, not a kept-int-the-dark fan like us… I think we are nearing the point where the ownership of the club has to change in order for us to improve on the park. How that happens, however, I’ve no idea…

  7. Apathy fuelled by jelly & ice cream gluttony will probably leave Celtic FC in a coma…..just in time for the return of the died huns….who planned that?

Last nights not unexpected fluk-up will probably trim another 10,000 off the attendance on Sunday.

From Seville to…..slumber in the SPFL….who planned that?

Come on boardroom plants….where’s the exclusives about hun administration?

Make everybody look the other way…..C’mon.

    Bye……

“It is clear that this is being undermined by selling assets to the highest bidder, an annual adjustment to the books. It is very disheartening and frustrating to me. The senior players must be feeling the same too.

The Generation of Domination has became a Generation of Downgrading.

As I said… Frustrating. Especially when such talented team players leave just as we see promising futures appear, then disappear.

When this MO is placed within a wider context of Scottish Footballs absurd developments and contradictions over the last few years…”

Of course fans and players are frustrated by the glass ceiling imposed on our operations but, when it is framed as a deliberate downsizing or an MO, then I fear reality is being twisted here. The alternative to this “MO”, as you called it, is to keep unhappy players tied to their contract until they leave on a Bosman- how does that improve the team? Will they knock their pan in and produce top notch performances while winding down? Will they risk injury and jeopardise their new cash-rich contract with an EPL mid-table outfit? Would we acheive any better results or just be minus the £30m or so that Wanyama, Forster and Van Dijk earned for us?

There is no deliberate desire to weaken Celtic. There are just market forces that lead to players being transferred as soon as they prove themselves to be decent players with us. We take a bath already on our transfer failures so we need to bring in maximum transfer values on the players who are going. Yes, there may be some who were willing to stay if we pay closer to EPL wages, perhaps Ledley falls into that category, but Joe Ledley would not make this team palpably better, and Joe earned a lot by exercising Bosman rights on his own club, Cardiff, and then Celtic.

Bad as last night was, it does not and cannot signal a change of “strategy” towards keeping players forever and ever.

Losing talent is just the way of the modern football world, which, as last night proved, is becoming inexorably rubbish.

  10. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

Amboise, like most Celtic defenders in many of our fixtures was ball watching and not aware of the forwards position. He actually drifted further away from kamara, then tried to get closer.

having said that Gordon was worse, with the real architect Boyata, largely absolved by many comments.

  11. Ronny obviously appreciates Commons’ attributes that’s why he plays him.

As supporters where would you rather see him pick up the ball: 30 yards out right in front of goal or 30 yards out hugging the touch line?

We can see it why can’t the manager?

  12. CultsBhoy likes living wage hates heated driveways on

Craig Gordon was average at best yesterday. He’s a naturally talented keeper with significant experience. It is therefore no great surprise that he could return after a long absence to play at SPFL level having previously played at a higher level in EPL.

What should not surprise us is that he would toil at a level he hasn’t played at before after a long absence. He was never going to come back a better goalie realistically. What he was was a cheap option, which combined with a cheap defence and a cheap manager was always likely to concede cheap goals …

  13. The reaction of Commons last night was entirely understandable but shouldn’t have taken place on the bench, it should have been kept for the dressing room.

  14. CultsBhoy likes living wage hates heated driveways on

I confidently predict we will win the SPFL this season and next. I’m not confident thereafter. The Huns must be licking their lips.

  15. is the celtic team that lost yesterday the same team that recently beat motherwell 1-0 and beat hamilton 2-1 and drew 0-0 with hearts. you bet it is is. with the excection of the dundee game we have struggled in every game this season.

we should have no expectation of getting a result anywhere in europe with this group of players.

the support should lower their ambition. the directors already have.

  16. KC, was the only player who seemed outraged with the pathetic performance.

Nobody else seemed bothered…too busy with their heads down.

    No fight at all.

    Gutless, again.

It must be obvious by now that RD is clueless….surely.

Things will only get worse if there aren’t changes.

RD is out of his depth.

  17. Good article – Nail on the head. Ronnie is now on borrowed time. Vast improvement in our next couple of Euro league games required and by that I mean convincing wins or RD’s wee experiment must end. Did our fans really sing ‘ Ronnie GTF’ last night?

“So, picture yourself the manager. You’ve seen your side lose three goals due to defensive issues. You’ve half an hour to go and plan A has failed. What do you do? Do you make a change to the shape to prevent Molde’s counters? Do you put an extra attacker on to see if you can get another goal and really put the pressure on the home side? Do you go to plan B, plan C or plan D to do something because you’re well prepared? Ronny Deila chose another option – carry on in exactly the same fashion for another 20 mins before making any subs, then take off the two most useful attacking players on the night (Armstrong and Commons), refuse to change the shape at all and continue to see your side countered on almost at will, nearly conceding more.”

  18. Snake Plissken on

My personal opinion of what Commons did is that it was a moment where the straw finally broke the camel’s back.

Commons has been our best player, most creative player and most influential player now for at least 3 years.

    He cares.

    He wants to win.

He dragged us back into the game only for the defence to throw it away right away.

He was and has been treated appallingly by this management team since they got there.

He’s had enough of it and so have a lot of fans.

He articulated what we in the main are thinking and what we keep on saying – there is significant division in the dressing room.

    You cannot win like that.

The only reason Deila is still in a job is that he relented last season and played Griffiths and Commons when he had bombed both or one out at varying times over the early part of the season.

Those two have kept him in a job and one of them knows it full well and lost the rag after being benched yet again after doing the only thing of significance of any other player on the park.

This ends only two ways –

    Commons goes

    Deila goes.

I wonder who people will be backing?

  19. It is remarkable that defeat,

turmoil and team turbulence causes such studied, sleekit, repetitive ranting………………………….

Ne’er a word when Our Great Club is in fine fettle……….

You can achive great things if you’re happy in your work; I’m not sure [ and this is probably just even more made up stuff on the ole internet] that CP is a happy place to work these days.

Watching the game on TV with my 13 year old son who plays a lot of football at a decent level. He has mystified by the number of touches and passes Celtic players took to move the ball. As the game got on and it was clear we needed the ball in the box to create shooting opportunities , he became even more mystified when the ball continually went backwards. He could see it after 5 years playing youth football. …. Ronnie and Johnny watched on and convinced themselves that this was the fulfilment of their philosophy

  22. Big Pierres 2 front teeth on

Kev talking pish as usual… Loves a Celtic defeat. Good on you kris commons!!! Someone had to say it!! No criticism of johansen, biggest imposter to wear the hoops in decades?!? Fucking clown that you are.

Don’t even recognise what’s left of my club now. We’re all pretty much unhappy with the custodians so what collectively are we going to do about it???

  23. If we beat Molde and Ajax the group will turn on its head. We’ll be on 8 points and either top or 2nd in the group, with one possibility of Fener, Molde and Celtic all on 8.

The problem is we finish in Turkey so we may need Ajax do us a favour.

Two wins at home and and aggregate win over Molde and the pendulum swings to us.

    Too soon? :-)

    Bankiebhoy

Remind us when our team were last in fine fettle..? When were we consistently truly at Celtic standard for a sustained run of games?

  25. Right chin up and off oot to work, still a proud Tim :-)

    Before I go

We have a squad on internationalists – Yes

Pity with Ronny tactics, we cannot play effectively as a Football TEAM

    Off oot

  26. Humped in Champions League and Europa League….but yeah, we can beat Motherwell.

    Truly Pathetic.

We have chucked it, given up, heads are down, same excuses trotted out.

What does it take, how bad does it need to get, before we say enough.

Maybe….it will take sevco to pump us next season, before the penny drops.

I hope not….but that’s the way its heading.

  27. Yesterday I attended the funeral of my cousin forbes he was only 39, a really lovely guy and a big celtic man.

forbes had a troubled life but was beginning to exorcise his demons and with his loving family was getting himself back on track but was sadly taken from us.

he used to write things down when he felt bad, this is one of the last things he wrote.

” I’ve had it hard since I was young, but it made me the person I am.

We all go through life with big expectations but the only thing worth anything in this life is the love and care we have for others, and of course our family, I’m blessed with a family that loves me and just a while back I have a beautiful daughter, so when you feel low think of the people who care and love you and things will feel brighter.”

Say hello to yer ma for me.

and give a hug tae my ma and da tae!.

So forgive me when I say last night wis just a game o fitba, at this moment in time it means nothing.

    RIP FORBES.

    YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE SON.

  28. Back passes and side passes are made to pull the opposition out of position and for the team in possession to make runs into space – Molde were disciplined and no-one from Celtic were making the runs.
