  1. Roll on 67 Saturday

I see we are 4 pets clear with a game I need hand

Is that game against our oldest Glasgow rivals ?

    Patrick Thistle

    Or St Johnstone ???

And a much closer/tighterLeague than that bestest league in the world wher Man Shitty are 8pts clear

  2. BOURNESOUPRECIPE

Huns second goal should not have stood either.

Hun was offside and standing in front of goalie and jumped up for shot to hit net.

Was clearly interfering with goalies line of sight.

  3. Chairbhoy

That was a good result for Celtic at Doomdome tonight. Keeps our nearest rivals well behind us. Draw at Pittodrie on Sunday will suit us after we beat Well on Saturday.

  4. Hmmmmm Kenny Dalglish 20 sterling years of service to Celtic. I don’t think so,someone’s imagination running wild methinks. I make it 10 as a player and 1 as director of football where he foisted his pal John Barnes on the club as head coach and we all know how that worked out. Then he walked away with his years wages and £600,000 compensation. Oh aye sterling service right enough

All academic, SMSM in meltdown because Celtic get our first SPL penalty.

“Are weak Scottish whistleblowers scared of super rich celtic?”

  6. DELANEYS DUNKY @ 11:12 PM,

Yeah it was, they might be a Team of cloggers but they get away with it in Scotland. Also their pressing game and high work rate means they are difficult to beat, especially at home.

Think it will be much better on Saturday… as a few have said, rotate the Team a bit an use a bit more physicality.

    Hail Hail

  7. Re the Dalglish debate: IMO not close to the best Celtic Player in my lifetime and not a Celtic great (Albeit a great player over all). Maestro, Larsson never mind the Lisbon Lions to name a few. If you want to consider his Celtic credentials, read Danny McGrain’s comment in his autobiography.

  8. DELANEYS DUNKY @ 11:26 PM,

Yes, Jonny Hayes is a good shout.

Think he bought for insurance if Paddy didn’t come back.

Now, Paddy’s been out the Team and JH can’t make the bench.

Saturday is just the sort of game he thrived on when at Aberdeen- he was a good SPL player and I think deserves a chance.

    Hail Hail

  9. Re Kenny Dalglish.

Great player for us – would place him in my best XI of Celtic players seen . A dour fellow, not a good director of football – or whatever his title was – and his leaving left a bit of a bad taste in the mouth cannot dim the fantastic impact he had on the park. Not a great Celt perhaps but what a joy he was to watch and that is enough for me.

    Jimbo67

  10. Rangers get a penalty, an offside goal and an opponent sent off. One would think a Dallas is refereeing their game , back in the old routine, Miller and Jack lucky not to see red

  11. Hope CMCG- is fit to play after that horrendous tackle in the box. :-)

MIT/DD- Auld bassas! Mike have a fabulous Celtic day and pause to consider how good life is and indeed how it can be worse. Enjoy all your blessings.

    Update:

Been on dad/mum watch since old man got out of hospital and on rota for overnights. These nights can be hugely challenging but also rewarding. I see Progresse (sorry couldn’t help it) week on week. Work next day is unforgiving after a tough night.

Aphasia- never heard of it before, but it’s an old enemy now.

But like tonight vs the cloggers it’s a battle that can be overcome or levelled.

To all the carers out there- you have my respect – till it comes knocking on your door…you haven’t a clue.

My old man understood we drew tonight but nit the significance.

    That will come.

HH all good Celtic men and wummin

  12. Dear goodness…..

There are some weird opinions on here tonight and I’m not talking penalties!

God knows why some of you listen or watch anything on the watchlist if yer that easily miffed, solution is If you can get Celtic TV to work put it on a constant loop and likewise rip yer old Glen Daly at the Ashfield LP onto itunes and stick on constant on yer Bose speakers situated throughout yer bedsit

A wee bit of your nighshit ripping off Tims there

  14. Dalglish is one of the best ever players to have played for Celtic, not in question. His times when he returned, ill judged.

  15. The match Report is up now, rather belatedly. All sorts of hassles getting to and from Motherwell this evening.

Agree with Timreaper, never a pen. I had three boys from the Green Brigade in the car, they were down next to it and said never a pen.

Given the behaviour of their players and supporters all night then it was poetic justice.

There is no way Peter Lawwell is ever going to pay that right to buy fee for the big French lad! How he had such a great reputation is beyond me!

  16. Penalties are just fouls in a special part of the pitch.

Callum McGregor got to the loose ball first, just before Andy Rose got there.

That meant that Callum put himself between Rose and the ball.

Rose went for the ball as he saw Callum was about to get there quicker than he had originally thought.

He knocked Callum from behind, leg to leg & so – he fouled him – in the box.

All the froth about it being soft, or not a penalty at all, is from men who were in the mainstand as it happened, or who were no better placed than you or I watching it on Celtic TV.

That the referee, who had given Celtic little protection all night, but was excellently positioned & immediately pointed to the spot, might be better placed than them to see the offence & award the penalty – just doesn’t occur to them.

They can quailfy their opinion by saying that from where they sat they couldn’t see the contact, or that the offence was as clear as some, but they just love to babble like fools.

They are, in effect, saying that the referee was wrong. Repeated replays do not show that there was no foul, they show nothing that would cause the referees decision to be overturned. (Nod to the NFL there)

This is not even a case of “things balancing themselves out”.

Motherwell chose to play a physical, combative game & the price of that is that you run the risk of precisely what happened.

The whole game long, they had been leaving their foot in, pushing, nudging, climbing on and generally doing anything they could to unsettle Celtic players. In the the rest of the pitch it was of little consequence as the worst that happened was that they concede a free kick. However, when you spend the whole game playing one way & in the heat of a 3 second span, inside your own penalty area, you continue to play in exactly the same manner, then you run the high risk of conceding – a penalty.

In the UK, the level of intelligence & technical input from pundits – usually all explayers or managers – is very low. They bring nothing to the viewers table during the game & then think that tehir pearls of wisdom are awaited with baited breath.

    Change is needed.

It seems to me that on Sunday & tonight we had what we always wanted.

Two referess giving decisions based on what THEY saw, not on what was convenient or political.

We all forget that referees are flawed & fallible every single game they officiate at.

I didn’t like it when the obvious decision wasn’t given or the unseen (by me) foul resulted in a decision against Celtic – Lord knows there have been so many of those.

The very thing that we complained about for years/decades – the failure of referees to operate fairly is what so many fans of other teams in Scotland also say.

The fishbowl of Scottish football has corrupted us all.

A bit like Trump and his assault on any story he doesn’t like – calling it Fake News.

This is Scottish football’s version Fake News.

    Fact

Referees will almost always do their best to get decisions right – as they see it.

    Fact

    Referees will make mistakes.

    Fact

Referees KNOW that they will get some decisions wrong. (Red cards overturned are testament to that)

    Fact

Football fans have lost sight of the fact that referees are fallible humans trying to be perfect in the eyes of at least two groups of people with completely incompatible opinions on what he should be doing at any given time.

    Fact

The SFA/SPFL do not help the referees with the lack of transparency, the Hush Code, the censorious attitude to any manager/coach/player who questions what referees have done in any given match.

Frankly, I’m often unsure why anyone would want to officiate in Scotland.

In England, referees are allowed to be more open, to speak with the media and to explain their decisions.

In addition, there is a clear link of cause & effect with officials who have obviously erred in one game, as they are rested or demoted a division for the next few games. In other words, on going training needs are accepted by all sides.

All of these things make for a more human attitude to officials.

The difference in Scotland means that referees are distant figures who never talk to the media and who are never allowed to let their human, fallible side be seen.

They are dehumanised by this system, so that no fans of any club seem to have any confidence in their ability to be impartial & proficient.

How many times in televised games SPFL/EPL/ECL or internationals do we hear commentators say how they have no idea why a decision was given & how even after repeated slow motion reruns, they are still mystified?

The referees decision is final, but that doesn’t mean that it’s infallible & correct. It cannot always be.

Whatever he decides in that moment after one glimpse of the action is HIS decision – right or wrong.

    Night noo

  21. Good morning CQN from a cold and dry East Devon.

Hard to follow game last night, reminded me of the Teletext days without Teletext.

Well done Bhoys in what was a vicious atmosphere. YNWA.

  22. Good morning – Grand St Andrews day to the Scots, Christians and everyone… hope you have a good one.

AoW @ 11:48 PM, last night,

It’s tough when your Parents are in that situation, Caring can be a thankless task, certainly tough work.

It sounds like your Parents have support from you, your family and others, that’s great, make sure you share the “burden”.

I always think when there’s an element of convalecence in caring it can make the strain more bearable and effort more rewarding.

Hope your Dad’s improvement, albeit gradual continues…

Thoughts and Prayers with you and yours…

And while we are at it, Charles Patrick Tully, Jimmy McGrory, Charlie Gallagher. The most skilful Celtic player I ever saw was George Connelly.

Bobby Murdoch is the best midfielder I have ever had the pleasure to watch in the hoops. He was imperious! Wee Bertie wisane far behind.

Lubo Moravcik and Kenny Dalglish were on a par. Kenny was in the top five or six midfielders/attackers but certainly not the best player to play in the British football leagues! He wasn’t even the best player in the Quality Street Gang. Brian McLaughlin very briefly wore the hoops and would, IMHO, have been the best of that group had the Motherwell thug not ended his career. I’ve not even mentioned Davie Hay!

Dalglish was good, but not on the pedestal that you have him on. To put it in context, you rate Mark McGhee as a manager!
