LISBON LION Jim Craig is the very special guest on the new CQN Podcast – out now!

Jim releases his new book, Right Back to 67, The Lisbon Lion Diary next week and we are pretty confident that this will be regarded as one of the classic Celtic books of all time.

There has been so much written about 1967 in some very fine books to-date but nothing like this. Jim kept a diary of his time at Celtic and in Right Back to 67 he is able to provide the authentic, inside story. It really is too good to miss.

You can order the book now from CQNBookstore.com and you will receive a signed copy. You can also add a personal dedication which is ideal for a Christmas gift. Simply email david@cqnpublishing.co.uk with your dedication after you have ordered and Jim will sort this for you next week.

Jim Craig joined Paul John Dykes and Kevin Graham to discuss the Lisbon Lions’ 50th anniversary celebrations in a year which also saw Celtic winning an invincible treble, a prestigious award from FIFA naming their fans as the best in the world, and even a BAFTA!

In this emotional interview, Jim reminisces about Jock Stein, Billy McNeill, Neilly Mochan, Bertie Auld, Tommy Gemmell, Joe McBride and George Connelly.

He also discusses his latest book, his magnificent Lisbon Lion Diary: Right Back to ’67. This memoir is a real fly-on-the-wall recollection of events from 50 years ago, brought to life by Jim Craig’s intelligent and humorous brand of storytelling. Order HERE.

  1. the long wait is over on

Don’t know whether SS is a put your arm around him or kick him up the backside kind of a player but he needs one or the other at half time.

  2. Good passing, if a little too passive….

Good interplay, if a little too far from goal…

Good forward thrusts, if no menacing end product…

So it’s good but like most of this season a certain lack of dynamism

    HH

  3. Just before HT, Well defender had his arms around SS waist a yard in front of Toms Hun.

    No action from the ref.

The only time we get an award is when we have an advantage.

  4. Sack the board. I expect to be 3-0 up at half time. Not good enough.

But really, some of the bhoys need to up their game.

Forrest is motm for the first half. Sinclair should ask him for tips.

  5. HT 0-0. Emmm not too much to say about that. A weak header from Moussa about the only effort on goal the entire 1st half. Murderwell sticking to their task well but we need to show a bit more urgency getting forward. SS is caught in some strange footballing malaise.

  6. Will be amazed if ss comes out for the 2cnd half.

JF and CM the only pass marks going forward MD getting nothing to him.

45 left Leigh on for me.

  7. glendalystonsils on

Brendan needs to kick a few erchies at half time , it looks like we’re playing with a bit of post-Paris flatness.

Lots of promising possession down the flanks but lots of rotten crosses.

M’well have offered little danger but are still in the game when they shouldn’t be. We are far too slow and laboured in the build up which only makes it easier to organise their defence. Need to up the pace.

  8. Get Leigh and Paddy on ASAP, we need something much sharper up front .

Passing from defence is well below par and Scott has been almost invisible as the lynchpin.

  9. Iā€™m stumped at what has happened to sinky . Our main man last season . But we donā€™t seem to have the quick penetration we had last year either . A lot of work to do here .

  10. Scotty looking totally bereft of confidence, cannot take a man on.I dont know.Playing OK,but not a great deal of chances.Well looking for a half chance,or breakaway.

I would take Scotty off,and bring Griff on.He wont, but, thats what I would do.I think Armstrong is driving at them, good sign.Calmac, useful on the ball, but little threat.

Who the fek would be a manager?.

  11. Half time 0 – 0

Aye Celtic are s***e’ ( or ‘flat’ for the more mild commentators ) the ususal hunnish mantra because we dominated but haven’t scored.

There’s an article in the Sunday Times on Sinclair being doubled teamed and Motherwell used to good effect in the first 45.

Expecting Celtic to steam roller every team we play doesn’t happen, cup finals last longer, and Motherwell as expected have defended well but the chances will come and up to today we’ve taken them.

  12. BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on

    Open season on Moussa?

Ref needs taking out over his performance so far. Leg-breakers permitted,no sanction.

    And no surprise either.

  13. Motherwell have stuck to their game plan, well organised and tough to break down and hoping to nick a goal, they’ve been decent but if they continue to allow us this much possession we will score.

A role for Paddy around the hour I would think..

  14. I know we love Brendan, but really,if Griff does not come on,he is playing to favorites.I hate to think this, but really.

  15. In any league in Europe the tackle on Moussa a sending off.Thomson knew he had to make decision, chickened out.
