Moussa’s violation

632

When the players arrived at Lennoxtown for training yesterday morning, Brendan Rodgers had no intention of allowing Moussa Dembele to leave the club.  Such was the player’s behaviour over the following two hours, the manager’s view changed to “Get him out of here.”

Yet again, the days ahead of an important game were clouded by distraction, but this time it took the form of insubordination against the manager.  Brendan’s view changed from not wanting to be left with only two strikers, to insisting the player was shipped out of the club.

One photographer, there for the press conference ahead of tomorrow’s game, told the manager, “I’ve been doing this for 30 years and never seen behaviour like that.”

You and I have seen many come and go over the years, so losing one is nothing new.  Receiving £20m also breaks a barrier in what we can ask for our players in the future, but the manner which this came about is a source of regret.  Moussa is a great player, one who delivered for us when it mattered most.  His goals and swagger were a joy to watch.  Now, the memory of his achievements have been violated by his behaviour.  Having a go at the manager on Twitter, where he talked about being lied to (utter rubbish) and ‘Liked’ a comment from Chris Sutton saying he was targeting Brendan, all while playing to “Bhoys and Ghirls” is deplorable. I’ll get over it and applaud politely when you do the Paradise Windfall 15 years from now, but we’re not buying it, Moussa.

Lots to say on the transfer window, but I’ll pick up on it more next week.  We have a game tomorrow against an outfit who think they can win the league.  This is a day for Brendan and Scott Brown, Dedryck, Kieran, Callum, Tom and the others to do what they do so often against Newco.  It’s a day for you and me to lift the team and paint Glasgow green and white.

Last month was traumatic, but it was also cathartic.  We are a united club with a bit of an edge right now.  Do your thing, Celtic.  Spank this lot one more time.

  2. I suspect the new 2018 Sevco Galacticos will be :

    McGregor

    Tavenier

    Goldson

    Katic

    Barisic

    Arfield

    Ejaria

    Jack

    Candeias

    Morelos

    Kent

That midfield is one paced and functional without a through ball amongst them. Sit in and try and hit on the break and press high with the final three…..

  3. 20 million for dembele a steal!!!.

Wonder if the Lyon chairman will still have that smile on his face when he’s forking out a 120k a week for a player who spends half the season with an ice pack strapped tae his hamstring!!!.

  4. lets move on , he has left the building forget him , yesterday’s news , we have a game to WIN tomorrow.

line up CG & 3 5 2 for me tomorrow

  5. Big Wavy – If I was Gerard I’d have Lafferty in ahead of Morelos. Lafferty knows how to play us and gives them a target man so they can bypass the midfield.

Interesting to see if Jack can keep his cool.

Always thought Edouard was brought in as Dembele’s replacement. No way do we pay £9m (even if it’s not all up front) for a backup.

The issue really is that we only have two strikers. The problem is getting one who is happy at being third choice but good enough to do a job for us.

The two late additions put a bit of gloss on a terrible window. Still don’t have a right back or experienced CB. Not really sure we needed Arzani.

Should have had players in early in the window, before the qualifiers.

Have to be far better next year, starting in January.

  7. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    BigBhoy,

So you’re saying BR gave permission to the players agents to find other clubs then changed his mind, away and bile yer heed.

Moussa, gone and soon to be forgotten, when the past players and management do a wee parade roon the park after 10 in a row is achieved, he wont be there, was always told to ” never burn your bridges ” he has imho, does he give a toss, no..

Again imho the Celtic board on hearing from Lyon that they wanted Moussa were willing to sell him if the price was met.

Seems as though it was, time to tell Brendan, Brendan says fek that he’s going nowhere till I get a replacement, Moussa has a strop etc, did he call Brendan a liar I dont know, but after talking to Brendan at training, he’s out, Brendans call if you ask me, and I’m 100% behind him on this.

The lateness of this happening caught Celtic out it seems, and that is ridiculous in this day, is it a sacking offence, no.

If Real Madrid hadn’t bought back Mariano, it wouldn’t have happened, they did and Lyon had a plan B ,our board didnae.

Tomorrow I’m going to Celtic park to watch the team my wee da brought me up to support. Hope you will all join me.

  9. the glorious balance sheet on

We’re going to have to be careful how we manage Tom Rogic’s fitness this season.

Not only has he not really had a close season break, he won’t get a winter break as he will most likely be playing in the AFC Asian Cup with Australia from 5th Jan to 1st Feb.

I don’t think we can expect him to play as many games as last season given that context. Maybe an opportunity for Ryan Christie or Lewis Morgan?

    4 DAYS

We had Thursday and it worked out good we qualified for the EL

We had Friday – well maybe not so good but dare I say not so bad !! £20m for MD !!!!!!

So today is day 3 of the 4 – reflection day

Armstrong McGinn Athens Boyata Dembele a pissed off Manager and an invisible CEO have all contributed to a poor August – Berkovic and Mulunda only time will tell if they help the cause

I a nutshell we are possible stronger at the back definitely weaker up top

But here is the issue – “on paper” we are weaker but they are stronger

And deep down thats the issue

Last year if Dembele had left I would have been pissed of because of the CL but I would not have been concerned about the Huns – this year – well today – I am

Day 4 is of course tomorrow – the mood on this site tomorrow can only be one of two things delight or despair

Our team squad and manager are better that them but losing tomorrow is not just about 3 points it will send them into orbit with excitement

it is for this reason we need to hammer them tomorrow

You might have been away working when he took over

  14. Armstrong not in the squad for Southampton’s match at Palace.

The phrase ‘ A footballer’s career is short’ is bandied about so much but when he’s 60 or so, his fond football memories won’t be of being an also ran in the PL – they’ll be of picking up medals at Celtic.

Not as if he was in poverty either with us.

  15. the glorious balance sheet – The OZ coach dropped Rogic from his squad for upcoming games saying he and Celtic were well aware that Rogic had a problem with an ankle injury.

Citypass is a good deal but try to pace yourself.

The Empire State building is great at night but better if it’s not to cloudy.

Circle line is a great relaxing ride around city.Tell wife to take a sweater as even on sunny days it gets chilly.

Natural History is a must.Incredible building and great exhibits.

Also Central park has plenty happening at this time of year.

    https://www.centralpark.com/things-to-do/concerts.

As an aside my mum wanted to do a carriage ride through the park.

I took one but the bone rattling ride got on my nerves so we decide to walk down towards the boating area.

I heard a concert going on so we meandered over and a guy called Rueben Studder who had won one of those singing shows was on.

It was a gospel concert and was great.

My mum started to get nervous and i said whats wrong.

She said theres a lot of black people here is that not dangerous.

I replied it’s a gospel concert not a muggers convention.

Funny how the media can affect peoples opinions.

I have lived in NY for 20 years and Connecticut for about 9 and still have an office by Grand Central

and have always felt safer than i ever did in Glasgow or London.

  17. THE HANDS CANT HIT….12:49

You may have misinterpreted what I posted…Crazy think to say but until Moussa stuck his two fingers up at BR and the Club I didn’t necessarily subscribe to us being weaker. We certainly were not any weaker…

What I was trying to say, maybe clumsily was Until Moussa we are no weaker. Yes, we are not stronger in midfield and up front but in my opinion we are no worse off.

Yes we lost Armstrong but he was not available for the most part. We got £7 million, good business for a player that would leave in January or negotiate a precontract. We have Mulumbu at 31, more experienced than SA. Now he is not in the same class as Lubo but the latter was older when he came, £350k. One thing we lack is the blend of young and old, inexperienced and experienced.

Paddy again was unavailable for the most part and already said he was not staying before season finished. He was kept out of the side by Sinclair and James. Yes I agree, Arzani not for me, not that I am writing him off but I am not one for developing other Clubs Players. Just because Morgan has no SPL experience and cost £300k do not write him off BR wanted him, good enough for me. Again as in midfield we lack blend of young vs old and experienced vs inexperience.

And just to clarify I was not trying to say we were stronger but until Moussa started sulking we were not overall worse off than last season. Brendan is now trying to build his next team of Champions and hopefully Invincibles.

Here we go for 8 in a row and a treble treble.

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!

  18. McGinn is where a sizeable amount do not wish him there.

Boyata is where he is,but would like to be somewhere else.

Dembele is where he wants to be.

To the ones who are at Celtic Park today,do the business tomorrow

and we will be over the moon that you are still with us!!!!!

    Sure it’s a………

  19. £20m for a resident of the treatment room, is quite possibly the best business any club has ever done. Dembele will only be remembered by us for his hat trick.

  20. 50 shades of green on

Ach I missed that one, still loved it though.

Wee shades asked me a while back about my most memorable trip to the Victorian lavvy, I had to think long and hard about it, I have been to many games there supporting Celtic, had a few gubbings on the field ( never aff it fae that mob) and obviously lately a few good wins.

The Joe Craig winner after not winning there

for ages was fantastic, but I went for the last game there when Eddie won it for us with 10 mhen, the joy on wee shades face when that went in will be in my minds eye forever and a day….

    Well worth the 2 × £49 ….?

  21. Best memory from a trip to the tip.

    Soaked through..didn’t give a f.. damn.

  22. Read the article, Paul is looking to shift the focus onto Moussa and away from the fact we didn’t replace him and the transfer window as a whole. Moussa was bad, we get that. Tomorrow is a big day for the Board. Win and we can sit on that for a fortnight and hope we kick on. Draw or lose and the next two weeks will feel like an eternity. Looking further ahead, if we fail to retain the Title it will be an unmitigated disaster. I do not believe certain individuals at the Club could survive. Which is the point really, why gamble your reputation and legacy for the sake of a few million that we actually do have. I find it very strange. Ironically they need the man they haven’t backed, the Manager, to dig them out of a hole.
