Mr Ogilvie, you’re going to need a bigger shredder

907

Lots of details became available yesterday but if you can drag yourself away from the most gratuitous, concentrate on the dates.

12 December 2012.

One week before the IPO.  Material information disclosed to the nomad?

21 June 2012.

Four weeks after Mr Whyte was banned from participating in Scottish football, enabling Newco to exist.

11 months before one of Mr Whyte’s collaborators is proposed as a director of Newco.

What the spivs have done to that club, assisted by the most stupid people to own keyboards and journos on-the-make, is breath-taking.  How did the idiots manage to take over?  There is a lesson for humanity here.

On a related subject:

“Craig Whyte’s involvement would be hidden from the SFA and SPL”.

Mr Ogilvie, you’re going to need a bigger shredder.

You and your organisation are being openly mocked.  What was patently obvious to anyone remotely interested in following events to their logical conclusion a year ago is now evident to all.

I have no interest in you resigning now.  All the damage which could have been done to our game due to a lack of penetrative oversight, which is your job, has been done.  Your persistence is merely confirmation that the levels of corporate governance at the SFA remain unchanged.

Fans from SPL and SFL clubs found rock among the sand to build foundations on last year.  There remains a love of our game, and our clubs, among the detritus, but we have unquestionably been failed by the custodians of our game at Hampden Park, who I am convinced, will again bury their heads in the sand.

There is no going back, no quick fix, no one can put this right.  Nothing will ever be the same again.  Accept this and move on.

The rich man and the camel, is it?

Weeminger, in the context of this discussion, whatever encouragement wealthy people have had down through the two millennia to give money to the Church, what Jesus says in the build up to the camel statement, is that the rich young man needs to “sell your possessions and give the money to the poor”, not to Jesus or his followers or to anyone else as a staging post, but to the poor directly.

As for the camel, it’s a well worn explanation that the needles were the nickname for the gaps in the wall of Jerusalem, possible to get through, one at a time.

It’s always struck me that, since Jesus said this, we who are rich have constantly rushed around trying to find ways of justifying the argument that Jesus doesn’t mean the kind of needle you sew with, doesn’t mean what he seems to mean.

Let me just point out three things.

It fits that the needle was the nickname given to the inlets in the wall of Jerusalem that a camel could just squeeze through after the gate was closed for the day if it was completely unloaded of all the worldly goods it was carrying. Yes. But in Matthew (19), Mark (10) and Luke (18), all three synoptic accounts, Jesus does not say “pass through a needle”. He says “through the eye of a needle”.

Next, is that all three synoptic Gospels place this discussion miles from Jerusalem, in the part of Samaria close to Galilee, or possibly in Transjordania. Had he been sitting with a crowd of people looking up at the wall of Jerusalem, the softer explanation would make some sense, but this was nowhere near the city, at least 50 kilometres away, and Jerusalem had not come up in the discussion.

Last, in all three accounts, the reaction of those listening is astonishment and they ask, “Who can be saved then?” This would tee up the explanation about unloading your camels of all the worldly possessions and then they would be able to squeeze through one at a time. But Jesus doesn’t say that. He says that for people it’s impossible, but for God all is possible.

Sorry to go on at such length. And like most things, this has come up on CQN before, but the words are there, in all three accounts. They say what they say.

  3. Kikinthenakas, Hiya doing pal, I know a lot of the time we just end up speaking to ourselves on here but tonight seems particularly bad, there is no cohesion or no real subject matter at all. You are probably right everyone is just hanging around making small talk waiting for Charlotte to turn up.

So Beckham has retired. Good example of how practice makes, not perfect, but a top professional footballer. Two matches stick in my mind. First up Tommy Boyd’s testimonial, which coincided sadly with Bobby Murdoch passing, full house but with a shroud hanging over Celtic Park. Affected all of us, not least the players. After the match though Beckham was wearing the Hoops. Second up, this time at Old Trafford for Ryan Giggs testimonial, Celtic not being messed around this time out, Beckham slammed up against the hoarding near the far corner flag at our end. A combination of Sutton and Lambert if I remember correctly. Heard Neil Sullivan was and is celebrating.

    Dear The Boy Jinky

I wish to object to your exaggerated overstatement of the titles attributed to the old Rangers club.

The correct total is 53 1/2 as their first title was shared with Dunbarton and should be recognised as such.

  12. Always thought Beckham was a good guy. Made the most of his talent.Clean cut Celtic type IMO.

Thank you, I’m well. I hope you are well too.

I’m pretty sure that Aleksandar Tonev deal is not done. The player was injured but will play against my Legia Warsaw on Saturday.

    What player Tonev is?

He is a winger, very often going from the left to the centre. Not bad for Polish Ekstraliga standard but I doubt he is the player of Champions League team.

That info about Celtic interested in Tonev came from Bulgarian press. Bulgarian press and agents are well know for giving fake information about their players.
