No nonsense excuses, Celtic

199

I’m having none of this frozen Arctic Circle nonsense, Bodo is due to be 1 degree colder than Lanarkshire by kick-off this evening.  The plastic pitch is a challenge, but we need proper game time on plastic with that visit to Livingston looming a week on Sunday – so let’s think positively about this opportunity.

This game is winnable, the tie is winnable.  Bodo/Glimt remain preseason, they will end the game as tired as they looked last week and would find extra-time an impossible endurance.  Celtic can and must play far better than they did in the first leg.  They lost, because they were poor and made the wrong selection decisions.  This is not a time for flamboyant midfield experimentation, start with our strongest 11, pass the ball with speed and we should find pockets of Arctic space denied to us last week.

If the score is 0-0 at 60 minutes the tie will still be there for us.  These are the challenges players get into the game to face.  It is a great opportunity for so many in this new Celtic side.  Bring it on.

I would love a win tonight as it would rank as an excellent away performance in Europe with all the psychological benefits that would bring . I do think it’s unlikely though , and I certainly would not want it to be achieved in extra time as that extra 30 minutes could negatively impact the Hibs game .

Funny how you parrot the Nat / Trot line about Iraq being an illegal war — it wasn’t by the way.

But are happy for VP to jump across the border and destroy the opportunities for two counties in one go as long as it is all over quickly and doesn’t affect you or yours.

Why do folk still think this is acceptable? Do we just believe all we read and hear in mainstream media? Are people so trapped in the Maggie way of debt and want to think that this is the way to happiness to have the material things at no matter what cost, which traps them in a never-ending circle of accruing more and more debt as their credit increases so the can still spend spend spend, whilst those who profit from it all stand aloof and laugh at the plebs? Can it ever be changed though? Can it? por cierto

I post my honest view based on what I hear & see around me. I have been involved in politics for nigh on forty years and consider what I say and write very carefully. I stand by every word.

I don’t purport to be ‘the font of all knowledge’, or, expect everyone to agree with me. I genuinely like to hear other arguments on specific points – that’s the diversity of life and I embrace it.

What I don’t do is engage in personal attacks and abuse of others who may hold a different view…..e.g.

    “playground view…..is pathetic.”

    “moon-howling”

    “impotent hysteria”

    With regard to being

“almost Trump-like in your unwillingness to accept the will of the electorate”, well that is just not true. I accepted the result of the Indyref and expected that those the losers would also -for “a generation” they said. I accept the result of the UK election although I have fought the Conservatives all my days. I accept the result of Holyrood elections although I have fought the SNP just as vigorously all my life. That is the essence of democracy.

So you see the majority of your post is ‘wide of the mark’, addresses none of the issues raised, and is merely an attack based on nothing other than an agenda, which obviously you don’t like challenged.

That’s fine, I hear it all the time from the SNPcult and its supporters because they simply have no real answers.

Abraham Maslow’s psychology of human needs

    The Forum

Many students of psychology, business, nursing and other disciplines are taught about “Maslow’s pyramid of human needs”, a diagram that shows a progression from our basic needs, such as food and shelter, to higher, social needs and, eventually, to striving for often intangible life goals and fulfilment. The pyramid is an iconic image, yet Abraham Maslow, a leading humanistic psychologist of the 20th century, didn’t actually create it. Moreover, his writings are much more sophisticated and perceptive than the diagram suggests. So where did this confusion come from and why didn’t Maslow disown the pyramid? How should we understand Maslow’s hierarchy of human needs? Why has it proved so useful in so many different disciplines? And in what way is it relevant to how we live today?

These are some of the questions that Bridget Kendall explores with Jessica Grogan from University of Texas at Austin, author of Encountering America, a history of humanistic psychology; David Baker, emeritus professor of psychology and former director of the Cummings Center for the History of Psychology at the University of Akron; and Scott Barry Kaufman, former director of the Imagination Institute at the University of Pennsylvania and author of Transcend which updates Maslow for the 21st century.

Interesting chat earlier about the relatively modest increase in total league points to date this season compared to last?

If I can stick in my tuppence …

The overall totals don’t tell the story by a long way.

It is often forgotten that Neil’s team had a very good start to last season …

…. before falling off a performance and outcome cliff

…. after a feeble 0-2 capitulation to Sevco.

Final 29 games of last season – 52 points

    (1.8 points per game)

Ange’s reign started slowly but has picked up considerably since September.

Last 21 games this season – 57 points

    (2.7 points per game).

Remarkable improvement in outcomes in less than a year.

Just wondering which party you voted for on the constituency part of the ballot paper for the Holyrood election in 2016, assuming you did cast a vote.

  20. Paul 67,

    Agreed.

We talked about squad rotation yesterday, opportunity and playing to win.

Football posts were out there and received no reply . Personally speaking I couldn’t give a monkeys if uber or elite posters wish to scroll by.

But it is disingenuous of them to then claim there are no football posts.

I did post the points total from a previous post.

My thinking was that last season was a disaster from start to finish ( just my memory rather than checking)

I would guess that most posters would, if asked, thought we had a bigger gap than 8 points compared to last year. Just thought it was interesting.

  22. Not much interest in a game,I think we cannot win.Freezing temperatures,on a plastic surface we can’t win on in pleasant weather. Not for me.Just hope we avoid injuries.

Ange won’t,but like Bada,I would put out mostly squad players.

Not even sure I want them to progress. We have already taken in decent money this season from Europe.Eyes on the bigger prize.

As for those more concerned with injuries than European glory I can’t agree.

A positive bounce from any win in Europe than s a great tonic for tired legs, A bounce from an away win like this would be incredible in terms of morale.
