No nonsense excuses, Celtic

199

I’m having none of this frozen Arctic Circle nonsense, Bodo is due to be 1 degree colder than Lanarkshire by kick-off this evening.  The plastic pitch is a challenge, but we need proper game time on plastic with that visit to Livingston looming a week on Sunday – so let’s think positively about this opportunity.

This game is winnable, the tie is winnable.  Bodo/Glimt remain preseason, they will end the game as tired as they looked last week and would find extra-time an impossible endurance.  Celtic can and must play far better than they did in the first leg.  They lost, because they were poor and made the wrong selection decisions.  This is not a time for flamboyant midfield experimentation, start with our strongest 11, pass the ball with speed and we should find pockets of Arctic space denied to us last week.

If the score is 0-0 at 60 minutes the tie will still be there for us.  These are the challenges players get into the game to face.  It is a great opportunity for so many in this new Celtic side.  Bring it on.

Vietnamese invasion of Cambodia in 78/79 — was it illegal / immoral / both?

We have discussed this last week and you struggled to deal with it.

    WE DID NOT DISCUSS IT.

You included that among a list of various other historical conflicts. In my response I did not mention Vietnam / Cambodia.

B- The motivation was a concern for the blog.

We have had a bad time of it with a resurgence of extreme right wing posting.

I tried to tread a line between seeing criticism of inaccurate and intemperate and worse statements made by ernie and any poster as fair game.

I was puzzled, and remain so, as to why you chose this battleground, as it loks both trivial and unwinnable.

Go on debating about the bigger and more legitimate issues, to your heart’s content. We need more decent guys rather than fewer if the blog is to be saved.

But, maybe, just consider that the advice was given from friendly motivation and not political opposition. This argument ground looks petty. We’ve all been guilty in getting bogged down in the mud- some might be incapable of rising no further than that.

You are not one of them.

Now, I need to prepare for tonight’s lesson- so , thankfully, last word from me for a while

I don’t recall actually saying that anytime recently – can you shed some light here?

I owe you an apology and fully retract. It was another poster who said it to you. I misread. Sorry.

    Readily accepted -thank you!

  5. Extra time is definitely not a scenario I want to entertain this evening, just win 0-4 Celtic, there you go, problem solved :)) por cierto

  6. Am I right in thinking that , in the event of a draw, Away goals are not a qualification determining factor?

PS I have to add that I don`t expect such a scenario.

    Who scored?”

GG. One with his head and one with both feet .

  8. OHITS,

I spent one of the best weekends of my life in Trondheim – we were put up in a house overlooking a river for a couple of nights, then moved into an old wooden hotel in the hills, drinking moonshine round a fire into the wee small hours and then the next day swimming in a local lake.

    I’d go back in a heartbeat 👍🏼

  9. ….and another thing ! Why have the BBC not been including the Europa Conference fixtures on their Red Button pages?

  10. Like others on here, I am going through personal health issues just now and have had enough of arguing and falling out with people on CQN over politics. It’s not good for my blood pressure.

We’re all entrenched in our views. Nobody is saying anything new about Scottish politics in particular.

Celtic and football from now on for me.

That doesn’t preclude me from offering the occasional opinion on other subjects as they arise, without getting into a barney in the process.

Life’s too short and we’re all Celtic supporters at the end of the day and that is the reason we are all here.

I reserve the right to respectfully disagree as I see fit, but without the angst.

    Hail Hail

This blog is ‘top of the world’ when it comes to discussing things of importance, whether Celtic, football in general, domestic & world politics.

If the bile, abuse and personal attacks were cut out, it would be out there in the stratosphere.

Almost everything affects us, one way, or, another, directly, or indirectly, over time.

The blog is perfectly in tune with our great club – “open to all”

  12. Don’t think anybody would have picked this starting eleven…

Hart, Ralston, Welsh, Starfelt, Scales, Bitton O’Riley, Rogic, Forrest, Maeda, GG

When I was about 16 and in the Merchant navy, I went to Honningsvaag (SP) in October. Honningsvaag is considerably further North than Bodo. The locals were wearing fur type clothing and crampons. We were wearing suits, bri-nylon shirts and winklle-pickers ! Honest !

    Discuss,

seriously the shite that guy posts on here.

    blah blah blah

  15. 🍀 Celtic team v Bodø/Glimt: Hart, Ralston, Welsh, Starfelt, Scales, Bitton, O’Riley, Rogic, Forrest, Maeda, Giakoumakis.

Subs: Bain, Oluwayemi, Jullien, Taylor, McCarthy, Abada, Jota, Carter-Vickers, Hatate, McGregor, Juranovic.

  16. With the exception of bain I would rather play thee entire bench

Looks like Ange has an eye on Hibs

  17. park the bus 442 on

100% of Celtic fc’s enemies are terrified of George Galloway 👇

  18. Just for the fun of it, I drove to celtic park after work, then made my way to cambuslang,

    8 minutes.

if youse dont believe me then tough.

    -))))

  19. Surprising as I find the idea, that selection looks like Ange is more concerned about Sunday. Possiblly the conditions have been a factor.

  20. Here’s hoping …

    JF you owe us one.

    TR in the zone.

    LS making the transition.

    SW settling down.

    AR putting in a shift.

Huge gamble — far too big a gamble for me.

  21. So Ange has genuinely shocked me and he’s clearly prioritised Sunday. Absolutely no complaints about that.

I would have concerns starting Rogic again but it’s clear we’ve written this one off so it hardly matters.

  22. Anyone who thinks we’ll keep a clean sheet against them at home surely couldn’t have watched the game last week.

I’m confident we will outscore them tonight and hopefully it’s by two or more.

    C’mon ye Bhoys in green
