No one wanted Celtic from Pot 4

1078

Let’s be honest with each other, there’s a bit of a leap between our European performances in recent seasons and the standards of Champions League football. My expectations for this season’s tournament hasn’t seen me check out accommodation options in Cardiff in May.

With that in mind, if we’re going to fall short, let’s do it against genuine quality opposition, some of the best players and tactically organised teams in the business. Barcelona, Manchester City (think Pep, but with more money) and Borussia Monchengladbach will bring this to Glasgow over the next few months.

Over our 15 year Champions League lifespan, Celtic surprise on the upside more often against better teams than against relative minnows. The biggest disappointments came in Scandinavia, not Iberia.

When the group stage finishes in December, we will faced enormous challenges. Players will have stretched themselves to lengths they didn’t know existed. What we know for sure, is that none of the other three teams in our group will have wanted Celtic from Pot 4. This is a hard draw for everyone.

Huge game tomorrow. Anything less than 100% and we’ll drop points. Enjoy it.

    Neustadt-Braw…Oh no! :-)

Thunder Road…thanks for that…you say they won’t stick out like sore thumbs and neither will I…

    OMG…you haven’t seen me…people think that I suffer from halloweenitis…and of course they get embarrassed when I tell them it’s really me…oh well, I’ll try… :-)

  2. The things we normally do about Green Brigade complainers and why they don’t work

There are several strategies people use around Green Brigade complainers, none of which really work.

1: Cheering them up doesn’t work

As in “Oh, theGreen Brigade aren’t that bad”, “Come on, cheer up” or the perennial favourite “Look at the atmosphere they create” this does not go down well at all

Saying things like this shows the complainer that you’re not taking their Green Brigade pain and fixation seriously. When you tell a complainer “They’re not that bad”, he will often complain even harder to convince you (and himself) that the Green Brigade problem is very serious indeed.

    2: Suggesting solutions doesn’t work

“Why don’t you…”, “have you tried…” or even worse “You should really have…”

The complainers’ Green Brigade problems are really serious and can’t be solved by a few smart-ass suggestions from you. Or so they’ve convinced themselves that theGreen Brigade epitomises evil. The more you try to suggest solutions, the harder they will work to convince you and themselves that these solutions could never possibly work for them.

3: Telling them to pull themselves together doesn’t work

“Quit complaining and do something about it” or one of my favorites: “You either want the problem or you want the solution”.

Yeah, telling them that their problem and fixation with the Green Brigade are trivial and they just need to pull themselves together is going to work just fine. All complainers magically stop complaining at this. Or do they?

4: Complaining about the complainers doesn’t work

“ Macjay complains a lot about the Green Brigade ?”

Guess what, you just became a complainer :o)

5: Ignoring them / avoiding them doesn’t work

This makes complainers clamour for attention even more – Hi Tony – which usually makes people ignore them even more. That’s a vicious cycle right there.

6: Complaining along with them doesn’t work

“You know what, you’re right, the Green Brigade are idiots. And they make too much noise and raise too much money for good causes.”

This can be kind of cosy because it creates bonding and an us-against-the-world feeling. But ultimately it’s a bad idea because the more people complain the less prone they are to doing something about the Green Brigade .

    7: Confronting them doesn’t work

You can drive the complaints underground where you don’t see them, but they will probably still be going on. And repressed complaining is worse than open complaining because it gets to stew and grow while it’s hidden.

The best thing to do is agree with them.

Then they’ll soon tire of agreement and slink away never to be heard of again.

  3. Agree with Clumpany, no doubt on CL weeks the ‘papers will still have tales about the exploits of the dead Rangers in Europe

  4. Good evening friends, my name is Jobo and I’m an obsessoholic.

    Come on Kille, surprise me

  6. WEEBOBBYCOLLINS –

I expct to be at The Corner around 2.15. I’ll be standing next to my 6’3″ Bhoy and his 5’4″ fiancee (they will probably be looking at their phones). Happy if you just shout “Jobo” and I’ll make myself known.

And is your first name Bobby or Colin as I may have misinterpreted your moniker ;-)

  7. There is a god.

Clint Hill is playing, this should be hilarious and wouldn’t be surprised, (from what i’ve heard about him) that he’ll get sent off.

Well young pup, you haven’t been mincing your words on here since you started posting.

Fair play to you and I love what the GB do…created an atmosphere when some heads went down during games, junglesque from what I remember.

I mind when it started up, at the back of 113, (I might be wrong) banging the back steel and constantly singing, minded me of when I was young.

Just my opinion… A lot of oldies on here, set in their ways.

You will get more backing if you don’t throw your opinions constantly in posters faces. Hail Hail

Sometimes it hits me just how long some of our clubs have been on the go. I mean, Killie were founded just four years after the American Civil War ended! Astonishing, really.

  11. Went for 20 shillings on Killie to win (13/2) and 67p (I know!) on a double – over 4 cards and 14 corners!!.

2 decent penalty claims already by Killie. And the almost extinct Dodu in the process of being stretchered off…..

  12. WEEBOBBYCOLLINS….

Wear a suit of armour but don’t turn up in a white horse if you identify yourself as Mats Nilloc.

    Liked you’re comeback :)

huns let of with a penalty claim against them…how many more dodgy decisions tonight?

It has taken TD67 a seek and a bit to come up with his obfuscicating defence of his use of not only the word but phrase “grooming of kids”.

You are stretching it if you are looking to defend him!

As I have said previously. It is an education of his own personality and potential threat.

  14. Bayern two up,in 13 minutes, that’s that game over and my spy report to Brendan will say ” they’re no’ bad”

    Right when is Corrie on?

  15. Hunderbirds are Gone on

Not that I condone any kind of foul play……..

……….but someone needs to stiffen that Forrester

    Cheers buddy.

You’re 100% correct. I must contain myself somewhat.

I used to post on here a while ago, but took a sabbatical.

In the lead up to the HBS match and the aftermath, with all the ”faux outrage” on here, i watched as some posters on here pleading that this was a disgrace etc, etc… then when the #MatchTheFineForPalestine started gaining ground their outrage began becoming uglier.

These people, who almost on a daily basis will tell anyone on here how big a Celtic fan they are? (Must a true fan continue to remind people that they are a fan of the club? Seems strange.) Others on here pick up posts from other websites and stick them on here verbatim! Who are they trying to kid?

These folk wouldn’t give a sh8t if the stadium was shut sown for the three home matches. They are absolutely incensed that the Green Brigade have brought the plight of the Palestinian people to global attention.

There is one poster on here that is slyer than a sh*thouse rat – his days of dropping pro Zionist propaganda on the blog at intervals when his cohorts are on will not be posted without being challenged.

Palestinian flags will be the norm in stadiums across Europe – where like minded supporters will flout this absurd Uefa Rule – it happened twice last night.

God bless Celtic and all her fans.

    Killie up 1-0
