FORMER Celtic target Martin Odegaard has been included in Real Madrid’s squad for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

The 16-year-old Norwegian, who was brought into the Stromsgodest first team by Ronny Deila last season, will be the youngest player to ever feature in the competition if he plays in the last-16 tie with Schalke.

Former Chelsea defender Celestine Babayaro holds the current record after playing for Anderlecht at the age of 16 years and 87 days in 1994.

Madrid beat off competition from many of Europe’s top clubs to sign Odegaard last month and he impressed in his first appearance in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Wednesday.

He is already the youngest player to have featured in UEFA senior international competition after playing for Norway last year at the age of 15.

Odegaard could make his full debut in the Segunda B clash against Athletic Bilbao B on Sunday.
Hoops boss Deila has hinted about attempting to try to land the wondkid on loan some time in the future.
