Odsonne, Calvin, Cristian and Eboue

Some players always report fit, whether they are or not, but no matter which way Leigh Griffiths views his calf strain from last night, it is likely that Brendan Rodgers will rest the player for Friday’s Premiership game at Hamilton.

With six Celts playing both recent Scotland games, and others performing elsewhere across the Continent, Brendan will surely take advantage of one of the benefits of having a strong squad in a weaker league and rest some limbs.

Patrick Roberts must be itching to get back into competitive action, while Calvin Miller could comfortably deputise for Kieran Tierney, who has already played a lot of football this season. I’d have Cristian Gamboa at right back.

One player who is likely to be rested for Friday is Tom Rogic, who played in Japan last week and is currently halfway through Australia’s home World Cup qualifier against Thailand.

19-year-old Odsonne Edouard will not have met many of this team-mates yet, so you could understand if Brendan Rodgers was cautious about starting him on Friday, but it could also be the perfect opportunity for the player to make a memorable impact.

Who knows, maybe we’ll see Eboue Kouassi pick up the reins in central mid?

  1. Stuart Armstrong played a beautiful game last night. The boy moves like a thoroughbred.Fantastic ,intelligent player. For me,a must start against PSG,in front of Broony, also great last night, and Ntcham.

  2. A debut on a plastic pitch on a Friday night in Hamilton……Doesn’t get much tougher. Wonder what the lad will think when confronted with that?

  8. Anyway,be nice.Skiting the boat across to Samos for the Pork Chop run.I love Pork Chops more than Homer Simpson.

  9. We will need to give Trigger some game time on Friday,in case LG doesn’t make it on Tuesday…..

  10. gamboa does not get back into uk until Thursday night/fri morning as he is playing for costa rica at 6am uk time Wednesday and Kouassi is injured still…maybe try playing erik and boyata and dembele instead

  11. If fit, and I realise its a big if, Simunovic and Boyata need to play on Friday night with Tuesday in mind. Jozo hasn’t played since Astana at home, Dedryck since pre season. Roberts and Edouard should be pitched straight in with Sinclair and McGregor rested and ready. I’d rest Brown.

  14. My team for Hamilton would be Gordon Ralston Boyata Ajer Miller Ntcham Bitton Roberts McGregor Sinclair Edouard, Keep all the guys from international games fresh for PSG. I think Brendan said Boyata would play a part on Friday. HH

  17. The valuation of PR could very well be in the order of £30 Million when you look at other players values who have been nowhere near Champions League standard yet sell (or are valued) in the EPL at rediculous levels.

I’ve just had a look at four articles from HITC. I don’t usually go there and will resist in the future; it’s kids in their bedroom playing sports-journalism. One article makes the claim that if Anthony Ralston does want to play as a full international for Scotland then he will have to go south of the border and West Ham are urging him to do so. They’ve found one promising young Celtic player they haven’t tried to unsettle and are rectifying that. Another article says West Ham are also after BR. It’s about time, the new season dragging on, that we had more speculation about his future. A third in its bizarre headline tells us that “53 year old says Celtic may make a new move for Coetzee.” Perhaps this 53 year old is there dad or uncle but no, we find, it’s Brendan again. It’s good to have that age-check every so often, says Phil Space, Senior Reporter, and to leave his name out. One morearticle, commenting on Paddy’s return, is headlined “Celtic’s Summer Coup wouldn’t have been impossible without Brendan Rodgers”. You work it out.
