One day in Fife

519

Over 70 CQN’ers gathered in Aberdour, Fife, on Friday for our eighth annual charity golf day.  As before, the day was hugely successful.  Both those there on the day, and hundreds more who contributed beforehand, raised over £6,000 since we kicked off the summer’s fundraising activity in May.

This year LIvingston manager and former Celtic player, John Hughes, gave his time to entertain us with a mixture of great anecdotes and outrageous anecdotes.  The big man spoke warmly of his time at Celtic, the joy of signing and working for Tommy Burns, that goal at Ibrox, and how he still benefits from his time learning from Tommy.

Many sincere thanks to Taggsy, BlantyreKev, Jonnybhoy, Barassiebhoy for organising an excellent event yet again.  A special mention for Oldtim, for more than I am prepared to tell you, and to everyone who contributed to an excellent Celtic occasion.

    Jee-zoh. Some tales to tell,eh?

Nearest I got to a Celtic legned-is that the official spelling now,btw?-was my Uncle Jim,The Growler as he is known(behind his back),keeping a Lion out of the school football team.

Looking forward to tying up with him again in October,too-we had a smashing time a year earlier at the Rennes game. Good memories of good times came flooding back, and it rekindled his love for our club.

Just checking hotel prices in Glasgow at the mo. I reckon I can stay in various Glasgow hotels for less than it’s costing me to live in Swindon.

    Bugger of a commute,mind.

    Cheers,bud.

I kinda get the impression that WDH widnae lower himself to the type of place I’m prepared to put up with in order to have a night out with one or two peepil on here.

And after that wee spelling mistake,I might be having a quiet night!

It would be a treat to meet WDH too,as I gather he is good friends with the venerated Bobby’s son-and wife.

If only to let them know how much pleasure he brought just by watching him.

  11. FINANCIAL RANT ALERT: SCROLL ON…..

Our revenge will be the laughter of our children.

Said a certain admirable, intelligent and hesitant Soul…..

We have witnessed the (temporary?) demise of our rivals.

Will their children become Tims?…. I doubt it.

Or, more disturbingly, will our children become as ignorant as the Hordes evidently are?

    Perhaps….

If the former were to come to pass we would have entered our own Nirvana,

but. imagine for a moment that you could glimpse into the future…

How would you feel if the truth for your grandchildren was the antithesis?

If they were subjected to a debilitating debt rooted in their parents distractions?

If they were to become unquestioning loyal fans of a cloudy misguided history…

    Unquestioningly, blindly and illogically loyal?

    Could that happen to Tims?

Ireland. like many countries, has been decimated, enslaved in a debt for generations… Amazingly. many have yet to comprehend the enormity of it all…

I am astounded the extent to which so many continue to argue about the positions of politicians, but never the perpetual positions of the bankers… Europe Wide.

    But the most troubling question….?

    As a contemporary Tim?

    Cui Bono DD?

Roll on the Distractions and the Debt.

But hopefully not over you and your children….

    Cui bono?

I suspect it will be the very same who caused the problem in the first place.

As a gambler,I know how to figure the over-round,the amount you have to place on each outcome in order to win £100.

By shopping around,it is occasionally possible to shave it down to less than 100%,though the window closes very quickly.

You have found The Holy Grail,a no-lose bet.

Sadly,it tends to be for pennies,as the bookies ain’t entirely thick.

The financial institutions, over the last twenty years or so,were daily finding no-lose bets.

Buying products from one rival and selling them to another.

All of whom booked the transaction as a profit!

And they were right too-they certainly didnae lose, not when the taxpayer can ride to the rescue.

  13. Top of the morning to you all from a grey, misty Fife.

It’s all part of a big conspiracy against Rangers according to the fan’s groups.

They just want justice and fairness for all, they say!

How do I hear that Calimero voice in my head when I read anything from the Ranger’s fans?

From the Herald and the Scotsman:

    By JOHN LEES

Published in The Scotsman on Monday 6 August 2012 00:00

RANGERS fans have reacted angrily to the news that Harper MacLeod, who they allege have links to bitter rivals Celtic, will be investigating claims against the club.

The Scottish Premier League have commissioned the Glasgow-based legal advisors to probe the use of dual contracts by previous owners of the embattled Ibrox club.

But a joint statement from the Rangers Supporters Assembly, the Rangers Supporters Trust and the Rangers Supporters Association read: “Harper MacLeod have acted for Celtic FC, who would be the main beneficiaries of any finding of guilt. Indeed, until it was recently removed, they included a testimonial from Celtic CEO Peter Lawwell on their website. The SPL could have chosen any law firm to carry out this investigation and it was extremely naive of them to appoint a firm with such a close connection to a rival club.” [ENDS]

Published in the Glasgow Herald on 6 August 2012

Rangers fans’ groups call for justice and fairness for all

The three leading Rangers supporters’ group have called into question the manner of the SPL’s investigation into allegations of undisclosed payments being made to players during the club’s use of Employee Benefit Trusts.

They have called for assurance that no members of the independent commission established to adjudicate have not been prejudiced by media coverage of the issue of stripping the team of titles won during the time in question.

The Rangers Supporters Assembly, The Rangers Supporters Trust and The Rangers Supporters Association released a joint statement yesterday criticising the SPL for using the law firm, Harper McLeod, to carry out their initial investigation, because of its previous working relationship and links with Celtic, who could benefit if Rangers were to be found guilty of any misdemeanour.

“As with other consequences of the mismanagement of the club in recent years, if there has been wrongdoing then we would be victims, too,” the statement said. “We are asking for justice and fairness, but in discussing the stripping of titles, it appears the SPL has assumed guilt when nothing has yet been proved. We hope the authorities will now act with the necessary independence, transparency and integrity.

“There would appear to be a conflict of interest in the choice of law firm appointed by the SPL to carry out their investigation. The SPL could have chosen any law firm to carry out this investigation and it was extremely naive of them to appoint a firm with such a close connection to a rival club.

“There is a concern that any tribunal appointed to rule on this matter will have been seriously prejudiced by the negative media coverage sur-rounding it. We want reassurance on the selection of the tribunal members and confidence in their impartiality.

“We are concerned that, despite the SPL having 18 sanctions available, the only punishment being discussed is the most serious yet no guilt has even been established. We believe this is being driven by influential members of the SPL board and recently formed ‘steering committee’ with the most to gain. We would question why there appears to be no on-going investigation into the so-called ‘Juninho EBT’ used by Celtic FC. Celtic acknowledged that this was not declared to the football authorities as part of their licence application. If this is the case, then why is a tribunal not being set up to look into this? We want justice and fairness for all.”

The ex hun fan statement is just a tiny part of Sir David Murrays concerted campaign. A refocus on the issues that are going to send him down instigated at a swanky Edinburgh restaurant with Jabba and cardihun.

So far we have had, cardihun, Billy Dodds and now the ex hun fans groups

It shows how stupid and easily manipulated they are they despise Murray yet one phone call from cardihun and they tug the forelock.

I bet Jabbas opinion piece this week will dwell EXACTLY on this issue.
