Adam Matthews has been on top form this season, his pace and partnership with Mikael Lustig have been unfailing for Celtic, so Neil Lennon will clearly feel robbed at a top players injury-enforced absence for three months.
It could be worse.
An injury to Forster, Ambrose, van Dijk or Izaguirre would be difficult to accommodate but we are not short of right side-midfield options. James Forrest is now back from injury and although Derk Boerrigter joined as a left-sided player, he has already featured on the right for Celtic. If Boerrigter plays on the left Samaras, Commons and Stokes can all feature on the right.
One man’s cloud is another’s silver lining, just ask Beram Kayal, who kept Victor Wanyama on the bench until he was injured in December 2011. Victor got the run in the team he needed and never looked back.
Signing van Dijk was a response to an unexpected transfer request/not in the right frame of mind to pull a jersey on statement from Kelvin Wilson, but the major planned summer activity was to inject pace into the team for Champions League games, specifically through Boerrigter and Pukki. For various reasons we’re not there yet, maybe Ajax at home later this month will change that.
Blown away by the 1254125 donations, which have flooded in since Friday. Each donor, from those who donated £5 to the several who gave £125 (like it!) are a credit to the spirit of those whose footsteps you walk in. Promise to stop pestering with a link to the page. Soon.
Thank you.

Winning Captains
Wasn’t sure if I wanted to be on the list as I usually prefer anonymity. My lack of imagination as evidenced by my moniker usually scuppers it anyway.
Add me please,
I used to play football in my wellies. If I ever got a hole in them my dad would come out with the bicycle repair kit to fix them. If your wellies were black and the plaster was blue it was just too bad.
Will add all names a requested.

Correct! I am glad you brought it up. The educated ones such as the 9/11 bombers all educated. Mostly educated in the west in European or American Universities. So why?
In my opinion its because of their religious upbringing. Its incompatible. These things they learned in their twenties…logic, science, evolution, engineering, areospace, communications. How come? They came from islamic shit holes? It cannot be God so it must be the evil west. It boils down to those that can transcend religion and those that cannot. Educated or not.
My dad worked in India Tyres, Inchinnan.

Oh I don’t know Margaret. The useful idiots(such as Red Ken) who indulge this bunch of fascist, anti gay lunatics ought to be ashamed. Many people have legitimate grievances but they are still not justified in killing innocent people. Anyway I am thankful that we can discuss this without smears of racism entering the debate. It is of course Muslims who are suffering most from these individuals. Let us give thanks that we don’t live in Afghanistan, Nigeria, Pakistan etc. Good night.

I agree with that.
A guy has a talking dog. He brings it to a talent scount. “This dog can speak English,” he claims to the unimpressed agent. “Okay, Sport,” the guys says to the dog, “what’s on the top of a house?” “Roof!” the dog replies. “Oh, come on…” the talent agent responds. “All dogs go ‘roof’.” “No, wait,” the guy says. He asks the dog “what does sandpaper feel like?” “Rough!” the dog answers. The talent agent gives a condescending blank stare. He is losing his patience. “No, hang on,” the guy says. “This one will amaze you. ” He turns and asks the dog: “Who, in your opinion, was the greatest baseball player of all time?” “Ruth!” goes the dog. And the talent scout, having seen enough, boots them out of his office onto the street. The dog turns to the guy and says “Maybe I shoulda said DiMaggio?”

“Setting free, would that be the same Daily Mail who helped the Lawrence family in their pursuit of racist murderers?”
The Daily Mail is not always wrong. It sided with all other media outlets in pursuing this campaign. It was far from central to the Campaign’s success despite the trumpeting of the vile Paul Dacre.
It is, however, the Daily Mail of “3 million gypsies invade Britain”, “Ed Milliband’s da hated Britain”, The Zinoviev Letters, and the paper whose owner visited Hitler and wrote in praise of him right up to the eve of war. The Daily Mail has a long standing issue with foreigners and many native to these isles too. There is a good article on this in that well known radical paper,The Jewish Chronicle, by Norman Lebrecht on 3rd October
“The west may not be suffering many terrorist attacks from Islamic terrorists but others encounter brutality every day from these lunatics.”
Which was, precisely, my point. That problem will not be helped by diverting more resources to internal security.

No one came close to losing their luggage in the Glasgow Airport attack, far less their lives. It was inept and useless thankfully.
There will, of course, be another successful terrorist attack in the near future and, most likely, more than one, even with our enhanced security.
However, we misrepresent a proportionate view as complacency, because it takes the focus off the Brown chap and that don’t suit your purposes, there have been few major incidents since the infamous 2001 attacks on Western soil and, for that, I am grateful.
There will be a need for balance between vigilance which is good and fear which is bad and counter-productive. Your inputs have only emphasised fear and distrust.

Fraser Forster England ambitions backed by Butcher
TERRY Butcher is convinced Fraser Forster is ripe for international recognition – whether or not he bases himself in Scotland.
The Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager earned a good portion of his 77 England caps while playing for Rangers and insists the Celtic No 1 can do the same.
Butcher read with interest the comments of England goalkeeping legend Peter Shilton last week when he spoke of knocking back a move to Ibrox in the mid-1980s through fears for his international future. Rangers instead signed Chris Woods who, like Butcher, continued to advance his England career.
Scottish football has dived in prestige and finances since those cash-rich Ibrox days, but Shilton backs Forster’s inclusion in the England squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Montenegro and Poland – and Butcher agrees. The 54-year-old never felt any discrimination under Sir Bobby Robson after joining the Graeme Souness revolution in 1986 and is convinced England manager Roy Hodgson will make his judgment on Forster based on ability and reliability.
The former Rangers and England captain said: “There are obviously still question marks in Roy’s mind about Fraser Forster, but that probably owes more to his relative youth and inexperience internationally. At 25, he is still very young for an international goalkeeper. He’s in the squad and they will assess him there. To be in the squad in itself is a good achievement. If called upon, you have to take your chance. Certainly against Barcelona, Fraser was excellent. He couldn’t keep Caley Thistle’s two goals out, mind you.
“But I think he is a very good goalkeeper. Joe Hart’s the man in possession although he’s not having the best spell at the moment. But he still has a good history with England and has done well for his country. I wouldn’t harbour doubts about Fraser Forster, I’d look at some of the saves he makes and what he brings to the side. He has youth on his side and he’s growing all the time in the role. There are English and European clubs who would love to take him off Celtic’s hands. He has got something, without a doubt. He’s a talent and a big boy. He is still very young for a goalkeeper. ’Keepers don’t really start hitting their peak until their late 20s or 30. He has all the attributes to be a top-class international ’keeper.”
Former Celtic goalkeeper Pat Bonner claimed last week that international football was a step up from club football in the Champions League, given the scrutiny and demands. Butcher agreed: “At international level, the demands are higher. You have to work very hard to get a decent understanding and gain confidence and sharpness with players alongside you.
“That only comes when you play half a dozen games at least. If you come in for the odd friendly, that’s fine, as long as you are doing well and learning.
“But international football is much more demanding than club football. When I was involved in international football, I always came back mentally drained. You are working with different people and have got to get to know them quickly, see their strengths and weaknesses and assess. Most of the English squad are England-based, so for Fraser that’s even harder.”
Butcher believes it would be a real shot in the arm for the Scottish domestic scene if Forster did earn caps and establish himself while at Celtic. He said: “I think it would be a great feather in the cap for the Scottish game to see Fraser capped while playing in our league.
“I saw Peter Shilton in the newspapers saying he had turned down a move to Scotland because he feared for his England career. I never did. I spoke to Bobby Robson about it when he was England manager. Chris Woods had already moved up. I came up followed by Wilkins, Roberts, Stevens and Steven. A lot of the guys came up and it didn’t affect us. I don’t think it does any harm. I think Roy Hodgson is the same. I think Roy would say, well, they are playing at a high level.
“Particularly with Forster at Celtic, he is playing in the Champions League. That’s good enough. There will be some players in the England squad who don’t play Champions League.”

Sincere congratulations to you, Morrissey23rd and Auldheid for galvanising support for the AGM resolution that reflects Celtic fans’ disgust at SFA duplicity.
The numbers game, as far as votes count, is heavily weighted in favour of the Board’s wishes but I’m already anticipating a rousing Celtic standing ovation from the floor when the agenda item comes around.
There’ll barely be a dry eye in the stadium.

Bust clubs could face relegation
THE SPFL board are planning changes to their rulebook which could see clubs who enter administration being relegated instead of merely suffering points deductions.changes,
Ally-McCoist-s-side-are-currently-eight-points-clear-at-the-top-of-League-One Ally McCoist’s side are currently eight points clear at the top of League One
Any such move could spell bad news for some of football’s biggest names. Rangers have just announced losses of £14.4million and former director Dave King warned in August that the club could be plunged into administration by Christmas.
Ally McCoist’s side are currently eight points clear at the top of League One after eight games but some financial analysts have claimed they may need another cash injection in order to see out the season.
Hearts currently have no idea when – or if – they may be able to exit administration. Kilmarnock are £9.8m in debt and suffering plummeting attendances as fans protest about the
running of their club by chairman Michael Johnston.
In the last 12 years, Motherwell, Hearts, Livingston (twice), Morton, Dundee (twice) and Dunfermline have slid into administration while Gretna, Clydebank, Airdrieonians and
Rangers subsequently fell into liquidation.
Prior to the SPL and Scottish League merging this summer, the two bodies had their own rules when it came to punishing clubs who failed to live within their means.
Rangers have just announced losses of £14.4million
In the wake of Rangers’ demise, the SPL introduced a set penalty which saw the offenders deducted a third of the points they had won the previous season, as well as being hit by a
signing embargo.
Hearts were the first club affected by that ruling, starting this season in the Premiership with minus 15 points after going into administration in June. In November 2010, Dundee were handed a 25-point penalty by the SFL board – who had no limit to sanctions – because they had failed to live within their means for the second time in a decade.
However, now the league bodies have merged, the SPFL board – chief executive Neil Doncaster, Eric Riley (Celtic), Duncan Fraser (Aberdeen), Stephen Thompson (Dundee United), Mike Mulraney (Alloa), Les Gray (Hamilton) and Bill Darroch (Stenhousemuir) – are updating the rules.
“That’s where the prospect of relegation comes in,” said a well-placed Hampden source.
“In the past the SPL’s hands were tied when it came to punishing clubs which suffered an insolvency event because they had authority over just the 12 members.
“Consequently, they couldn’t impose a relegated club on the SFL. Now, though, there is the opportunity to provide a 42-club solution.”

Setting free. I don’t dispute that there are complexities. However I felt that your initial response was long winded and made deviations into other areas which move away from the horror of the terrorism. Hence I summed up in clear terms what is happening.
I assume you do accept that these terrorist attacks are evil? You do don’t you? If not then something is wrong.

It is an observation which has nothing to do with my post where I made exactly those same two points. You seem to be violently agreeing with me.
The majority of the victims of extreme Islam are fellow Muslims.
Political correctness is a phrase used solely by those who want an excuse to vent their bigotry. It is a phrase devoid of any other meaning.
I did not need to travel to Turkey or anywhere else to possess the imagination to understand that.
An ability to read what has been put forth in my posts, and not what you imagine is there, will help future communication between us to be much more brief.

Lots of people have a touch of the cognitive dissonance when it comes to innocent people being killed in war in whichever guise it takes.
we continually disregard or make excuses for deaths committed by forces we broadly support.
There won’t be much argument that the Yanks and the Brits were the good guys in WW2.
Yet we have the fire bombing of German civilians or the bombings of Tokyo, Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The world is a dangerous place but do you really want to end up with a society like the States that is moulded on fear. Fear of everything and everyone that is not like you.

Setting free, indeed the Daily Mail makes some odious comments about the ‘flooding’ of gypsies into our country. Their attack on Miliband was also wrong. However if you care about gypsies then you may wish to challenge the repugnant actions of the French socialist politicians. Assuming you also care for Jews, you may wish to direct some ire to the disgusting elements in Hungary who hate Jews and gypsies. I mention this as you mentioned the gypsies and the Daily Mail.
TSD, bloody hell man, yer whackin the old bell tonight…. Plastic paddy marxists.. and the edl are a sort of testosterone boosted womens institute.

Tommy Robinson is a thug. His followers are thugs and morons. They mirror their ‘Unite against facism’ friends.
Clink, most people suffering from this terror are not living in Christian countries. I appreciate your point is about fear but you sound complacent. People are dying every day thanks to these brutes.
TSD @ 00.46
Well, if it upset you, the effort was not wasted.
For someone who has “never been a supporter of the EDL” you sure have mentioned them favourably a lot, linked to the sites they link to and continue to offer mitigating excuses for their racism.
There was no attempt to have Sikh, Hindu and Jewish chapters; it would be anathema to all the views of all the guys who join such organisations. Tommy Robinson’s attempt to dissociate himself (he’ll join UKIP when the time allows) is much like the occasional denouncement of ultra-right extremism you will see from the Daily Mail and the Express. Those papers admire and agree with the racism but they find the Ernst Rohm wing a bit too working class and overtly thuggish- not a good image for our new found respectability and the popularity of racism in times of recession.
In pre WW2 Germany- all those right wing conservative minds, Von Hindenburg, Von Papen and Von Ribbentrop all thought they could ride the racist tiger too.
All those vons learned a thing or two on The Night of the Long Knives.
Oh! and you’re not welcome, are you?
We are never deceived; we deceive ourselves.
Clink I am not afraid of people unlike me. I find it bizarre that people feel fear when they see Muslim women who wear ‘traditional’ outfits. I am rather more concerned with the people who are being killed by lunatics. Let us also not forget about teenage girls bring stoned to death.
