Adam Matthews has been on top form this season, his pace and partnership with Mikael Lustig have been unfailing for Celtic, so Neil Lennon will clearly feel robbed at a top players injury-enforced absence for three months.
It could be worse.
An injury to Forster, Ambrose, van Dijk or Izaguirre would be difficult to accommodate but we are not short of right side-midfield options. James Forrest is now back from injury and although Derk Boerrigter joined as a left-sided player, he has already featured on the right for Celtic. If Boerrigter plays on the left Samaras, Commons and Stokes can all feature on the right.
One man’s cloud is another’s silver lining, just ask Beram Kayal, who kept Victor Wanyama on the bench until he was injured in December 2011. Victor got the run in the team he needed and never looked back.
Signing van Dijk was a response to an unexpected transfer request/not in the right frame of mind to pull a jersey on statement from Kelvin Wilson, but the major planned summer activity was to inject pace into the team for Champions League games, specifically through Boerrigter and Pukki. For various reasons we’re not there yet, maybe Ajax at home later this month will change that.
Blown away by the 1254125 donations, which have flooded in since Friday. Each donor, from those who donated £5 to the several who gave £125 (like it!) are a credit to the spirit of those whose footsteps you walk in. Promise to stop pestering with a link to the page. Soon.
Thank you.

George Ryan RIP.
Years since I saw the guy but
grew up next block to George and delivered his parent’s papers.
Occasionally walked home to Cranhill from Celtic park, with him. I’m not sure what George achieved and experienced in the last 30 years, but the number of posts acknowledging him is testimony to the man’s success.
He always loved Celtic and that’s what I remember him for in Cranhill.

Thanks Cliftonville. Padraig Coyle also wrote a good book.
Weeminger, we ought to be fearful. We face a threat from fanatical lunatics who hate us. Dismiss them at your peril. These b*stards are creating havoc throughout the world. Their atrocities increase by the day.
Winning Captains could you please add my name to the list
Looking to make the cut for the second year in a row!

Winning Captains,
It’s crossed my mind that some brand new posters could be appearing with the express purpose of infiltrating the CQN annual and causing hilarity among their fellow orcs,
just saying like.
1953 we moved out of the gorbals to a house with a garden. Wore my uncle’s old fitba boots stuffed with paper. Ran out the back door with my old tennis ball as though coming out of the tunnel at CP and became…wee bobby collins…
Jimbo I hope you feel better now.

If Jesus came back to day, he would be wearing plastic sandals….wouldn’t he?
Canamalar, hats off to you for your tireless work in getting the resolution to the AGM. What you,ve started here is nothing short of astonishing. I’m so pleased you got the support you required. Where will it go now? Interesting times ahead.
Morrissey 23rd’s no a bad lad either but he’s a hell of a heavy duty snorer.

was on 2 bus to parkhead today….heard a sevco z..talking to two older hoops gentlemen…who got on near the dolphin, this numpty waxed we,l fight out way back…his last line was..”.dont get me wrang..av no been tae ibrox for years”……im sure he muttered no surrender when he left…
Also remember George on “a school trip” from the Greg to Edinburgh (Easter Rd) 35 years ago. Pretty sure Glen Daly’s son,Terry , a teacher organised that cultural expedition to the museums and zoo. That’s what my Ma thought she was sending me to anyway !
Gordybhoy64 – the names on the list run along the bottom of the pages in the CQN Annual which is going to be hard back this year and over 200 pages long. Last year’s Annual was well received on the blog – this year’s will be even better!
I had a smashing day today in the company of our cave dwelling Exiled Tim. Five hours on the golf course flew by and I’m now in possession of a cracking Celtic leather belt and wrist band, and a massive collection of fine Spanish reds.
TET, you are a gentleman and a friend, cant wait till the next Spanish meet in Barcelona.
Hail Hail bruv.
P.S. the bhoy is still gutted at getting beaten by a couple of old duffers:_))

hardmen that I saw back in the 60s and 70s were our Reserves half back line Kurila, Cushley and McNamee, try running throught them!
Jim Brogan also comes to mind in the same breath as Davie Hay. But the best, hardest tackle, for me, was big Cush on the Kiev Dinamo right back, when he came over from centre field and put him into us in the Jungle. I also thought Cushley and Brogan were our best options against Forrest etc.

Reminds me just after 1960 EC Final (which I was taken to – ticket 7/6d or 37.5p) got a pair of Di Steffano (early marketing – probably stamped made in Spain) tan lace-up boots with the old studs bought for me by my Grandad.
Laces must have been more than a metre long then – twice round your insteps – through the loop-tab at the back of the boot – twice round your ankles and then knotted.
Having plowed through mud/ wet cinders (or what passed as a playing surface) – peeing down with rain – frozen fingers – knots that were impossible to untie ………………. can mind many a time heading home on the bus with my boots still on!
Ah the good olde days. :-)
throught = through
winning captains can you add me too danke
TR….i was driving……he almost got a flatfoot…

I believe you’ve omitted from your list a guy called Paul who occasionally posts on here. Usually just at the back of 12 and then he disappears again.
Personally I think he could be a Hun :-)
CQN seems to be listing…might as well join in.
winning captains :O).
