One man’s cloud

1060

Adam Matthews has been on top form this season, his pace and partnership with Mikael Lustig have been unfailing for Celtic, so Neil Lennon will clearly feel robbed at a top players injury-enforced absence for three months.

It could be worse.

An injury to Forster, Ambrose, van Dijk or Izaguirre would be difficult to accommodate but we are not short of right side-midfield options.  James Forrest is now back from injury and although Derk Boerrigter joined as a left-sided player, he has already featured on the right for Celtic.  If Boerrigter plays on the left Samaras, Commons and Stokes can all feature on the right.

One man’s cloud is another’s silver lining, just ask Beram Kayal, who kept Victor Wanyama on the bench until he was injured in December 2011.  Victor got the run in the team he needed and never looked back.

Signing van Dijk was a response to an unexpected transfer request/not in the right frame of mind to pull a jersey on statement from Kelvin Wilson, but the major planned summer activity was to inject pace into the team for Champions League games, specifically through Boerrigter and Pukki.  For various reasons we’re not there yet, maybe Ajax at home later this month will change that.

Blown away by the 1254125 donations, which have flooded in since Friday. Each donor, from those who donated £5 to the several who gave £125 (like it!) are a credit to the spirit of those whose footsteps you walk in.  Promise to stop pestering with a link to the page.  Soon.

Thank you.

Laces brought back a nice memory of my wee Mother (God rest her soul) – she used to put ‘said’ dirty laces inside my football socks and stick them in the old boiler (stirred with the wooden paddle) – pre the non-biological days.

Came out white as white – then drawn under the old steam-iron to straighten them out.

All that effort and 5 minutes in to the next game they ended up as manky as before.

Was never that brilliant at football – but give Mum her due – she always turned me out clean and smart. :-)

No one came close to losing their luggage in the Glasgow Airport attack, far less their lives. It was inept and useless thankfully.

There will, of course, be another successful terrorist attack in the near future and, most likely, more than one, even with our enhanced security.

However, we misrepresent a proportionate view as complacency, because it takes the focus off the Brown chap and that don’t suit your purposes, there have been few major incidents since the infamous 2001 attacks on Western soil and, for that, I am grateful.

There will be a need for balance between vigilance which is good and fear which is bad and counter-productive. Your inputs have only emphasised fear and distrust.

I see wee Tommy Robinson today resigned from your party because there were too many extremists there. You’ll be left with only the Brownshirt Brigade for company soon- oh! and their historical bed-fellows The Daily Mail

If we insist on supporting pseudo democracies whose governments objectives are to

protect private corporations and the exploitation of resources (even subsidizing them via taxes)then we shouldn’t complain when those exploited countries uneducated populations resort to the only book they know and start killing people. What have they got to lose?

  30. No need to apologise Margaret. I am not suggesting you defend these actions. Of course you raise some valid points. However there is no justification for these actions. Many of these individuals have had comfortable lives and have been well educated.

Just back from Puerto Del Carmen in Lanzarote,. If any CQNers are goping there I would highly recommend a pub/restaurant called THE VENUE (it’s above The Bollywood Indian restaurant).

The guy has three ginormous screens with independent sound and as his wife is a Hoops supporter, Celtic televised games are always on one of the big screens!

Last Saturday he even streamed the Mothers v Hoops game onto one of the smaller sets from Celtic TV. Excellent pub grub and pints of good beer at 2 euros.

Avoid the Irish pubs with their torn seats, false blarney and watered spirits.

They were crowded wall to wall with those Dubs who think that everybody else should look out for their spoiled brats because they happen to be on holiday!

Or is that my culshie Donegal bias showing?
