Operation relieve the gullible of £411 each underway

“My father wasn’t at all keen on me becoming a Rangers supporter.  He was a Glasgow policeman and because of that he resented the whole football scene in Glasgow.  ‘He was actually very anti-football.  When we were kids growing up he was very vocal on his dislike of the bigotry in football.  The police in Glasgow at that time saw it as a basis for thuggery.

“My father took me to that first game reluctantly…”

Dave King, shooting the breeze with the Daily Mail in March last year.

“Like all of you who read this letter, I have always taken pride in being a Rangers supporter. It is something I inherited from my father who, in turn, inherited the legacy from my grandfather. This is what Rangers fans do. We pass on our pride and belief in Rangers to our children.”

Dave King’s letter to the season ticket marketing database last week.

One of the two statements is probably true, although with Dave, who knows?  South African judge, Brian Southwood, referred to King as a “glib and shameless liar”.  Despite this, the SFA decided he was an appropriate person to run a football club, free to send out messages like this, with the objective of relieving fans of an average of £411 per person.  This is what happens when you enable people already branded a shameless liar, what do you expect?

I hope the SFA and Trading Standards are alerted to what’s going on, don’t leave it until it’s too late.

I’m waiting for new of the Ben Nevis Huddle, which should have taken place at the peak of the mountain in the last hour.  Over 80 people set out on the climb this morning to raise funds for the Celtic Foundation – to feed the hungry, provide shelter for the homeless and help others in need.

It’s a magnificent Celtic effort.  My wee brother’s up there, you can give his fundraising a pound or two here.  Thank you.

The point is, we can all tell stories like that….

Try being the son of the first Catholic self made businessman to grow up in Motherwell and have the audacity to move in the maist maist affluent area wi a young family and daein the readin’s at Mass and also frequenting the Fir Park Club just tae rub the c***s noses in it. Being looked down there nose at even the minute ye have the audacity to apply for something like a paper round, but the newsagent even tells ye ‘Ah cannae have ye drappin they papers aff in that jersey, son…… Tommy and Willie McLean come in here….. They’ll chase ye son…..’

We can aw tell stories like that pal…. There other stories a sh**e site worse, that ended wi me being in the auld Law Hospital because I wouldn’t shut my mouth.

As a father now, with a laddie who will be 7 years old in a few weeks, God willing, and who I would move heaven and earth to protect, I know, this country has moved on now. For the most part.

    The rest?

As Henry Fonda said in Twelve Angry Men; ‘They can’t hear you……. And they never will……’

  11. Archdeaconsbench so what? We pretend it’s all better. Please tell me how it’s better. Perhaps I’m missing it?

  12. The poor gullible hun supporters will now realise that the implied and inferred millions of up front money from King does not really exist and that yet again they will have to dig deep themselves just keep the club going while the board members rake it in for themselves.

  13. Had a great night at the NACSFC here in Vegas last night, what a great bunch of guys they are, and we now have a Vegas CQN clique, Blane Valley mob, bring it on, :)), I’m heading up to Canada for another two weeks in the morning, so have a great weekend all HH.

Appears we were brought up not far apart, although I probably am a good fifteen years of so older, guesswork by me.

I have direct experience of the first Catholic in the door matter and if would scare some of the guys on here to hear what went on. Although there are a few with even more ferocious experiences from the occupied counties.

For all that, the comparison with Lanarkshire in 1970 to Lanarkshire in 2000 onwards is stark, Catholic MP’s , councillors, JP’s. They even had a Catholic as captain of the local golf club!!!! By 2050 I hope we will have stormed the enclaves of the bowling clubs, but that will be difficult.

No problem Mac. I missed the England game, heard it was a borefest.

The boy will learn. It reminded me of Maloney’s freekick in Seville when he blazed it over the bar, when he should have put in the mixer with minutes remaining.

    He’s turned out alright.

  16. Winning captains @ 19:31, CQN had a survey of its users many months ago but I can’t remember seeing the results published.

Does any other CQNers remember that?

  17. They can keep their bowling clubs and marches…they lost their fitba’ team…and they hate being reminded of that.

It’s something which I would never mention…unless it was absolutely necessary.

Indeed….the one in Seville hurt a lot more , I can still see it. My shoulders numb from holding my lad up to see the big screen, dehydrated, sweating dust and muttering a Hail Mary…then deflation.
