Operation relieve the gullible of £411 each underway

“My father wasn’t at all keen on me becoming a Rangers supporter.  He was a Glasgow policeman and because of that he resented the whole football scene in Glasgow.  ‘He was actually very anti-football.  When we were kids growing up he was very vocal on his dislike of the bigotry in football.  The police in Glasgow at that time saw it as a basis for thuggery.

“My father took me to that first game reluctantly…”

Dave King, shooting the breeze with the Daily Mail in March last year.

“Like all of you who read this letter, I have always taken pride in being a Rangers supporter. It is something I inherited from my father who, in turn, inherited the legacy from my grandfather. This is what Rangers fans do. We pass on our pride and belief in Rangers to our children.”

Dave King’s letter to the season ticket marketing database last week.

One of the two statements is probably true, although with Dave, who knows?  South African judge, Brian Southwood, referred to King as a “glib and shameless liar”.  Despite this, the SFA decided he was an appropriate person to run a football club, free to send out messages like this, with the objective of relieving fans of an average of £411 per person.  This is what happens when you enable people already branded a shameless liar, what do you expect?

I hope the SFA and Trading Standards are alerted to what’s going on, don’t leave it until it’s too late.

I’m waiting for new of the Ben Nevis Huddle, which should have taken place at the peak of the mountain in the last hour.  Over 80 people set out on the climb this morning to raise funds for the Celtic Foundation – to feed the hungry, provide shelter for the homeless and help others in need.

It’s a magnificent Celtic effort.  My wee brother’s up there, you can give his fundraising a pound or two here.  Thank you.

Ah….ye see…another ‘wee’ statement from the club full of individuals who are scared to put their name to a statement…just like the ‘wee’ letter that was sent to Chris McLauchlin from the BBC…signed by a ‘source’….during the ‘honest-mistake’ period were the ole Celtic ‘bored’ looked the other way…decision after, decision….aye….btw…would it be ‘too’ inaccurate….even for me to suggest that, Celtic’c hierarchy were prepared to stay behind the sofa and let ole…Terry O’Neill fight Timdom’s corner during the ‘honest-mistake’ era….?

Have you stopped to consider that…’your’ highlighted-link-thing was dated during a time when RD’s team were rank on the pitch….or, did ye hope that I wouldn’t notice that ‘wee’ irrelevance…?

In other news….are Celtic’s CQN-plants…pushing the youth set-up doon wur throats in the hope that none of you will notice that….what they’re ‘really’ trying to do is….bring the levels doon further so that we can look as though we’re in a tough joust wi the Jambo’s….surely no….?

Don’t get me started on the dossier!

As for the youth set-up,development programme, call it what you will,it has been largely unsuccessful these last ten years or so. I’m definitely in favour of us attempting to improve on that. The youngsters are obviously considered good enough in their age-group,but don’t seem to improve sufficiently to make the grade at first-team level.

Aye,I see your point that it could be construed as a cheap option-and if successful would save us a fortune-but think of the youngsters you’ve seen in your time who have come through the ranks for us.

More of that would make me very happy indeed.

    But…

    Only if they’re good enough.

Warburton is taking a huge risk joining Rangers. Their problems are well-documented. He signed their best player a few months ago then discovered he wasn’t good enough to start.

If it goes pear-shaped,he may well find his managerial career is brown bread.

Couldnae resist the pun,but I’m serious about the rest of the post!

I,m just wondering (if it hasn,t been mentioned before ) is the reason it takes so long to count the sevco votes that they have 500,million shareholders ?.8>).

BMCUW – I hadn’t made that connection re: Messi MacLeod – interesting.

The parallels with our own manager’s aquisition are astonishing – success at a smaller club, good relationship with the club developed through processing a player transfer between the clubs, foreign manager,…errr… any other guff that the SMSM will spout to desperately keep up any possible association with Celtic.

Ah….ye see…another ‘wee’ statement from the club full of individuals who are scared to put their name to a statement

    Erm…OK…

It was an official statement on the Official Club website. No matter what subject it addresses, that counts as an official statement and both the CEO and club majority shareholder are answerable for its contents. A statement on behalf of Celtic means that everyone signed off on it and it was not just a personal view of Peter Lawwell’s or Dermot Desmond’s or Lord Reid’s.

I know the tabloid mind has leanings towards the “one big strong leader” that will do our thinking for us because we find it hard to do for ourselves, but many of the rest of us prefer the strength that a strong group position brings.

Have you stopped to consider that…’your’ highlighted-link-thing was dated during a time when RD’s team were rank on the pitch….or, did ye hope that I wouldn’t notice that ‘wee’ irrelevance…?

Well, I did stop to consider that your M.O. is usually just to jump onto another rock when the first, and only, strand in your original argument gets blown out from under you.

And true to form, rather than just say, I got it wrong with my “aff the tap of ma heid” assertion that these things only occur at SB renewal time, they have occurred mostly at other points of the year more in keeping with the progress of the OBaF Act than with sale of season books.

Since you believe that “they”, whoever they may be at any point in time, are always doing something wrong, I doubt you would have been unable to find some reason that Celtic were “distracting” from, on any day they made this announcement. Even if they’d made a statement on the same day that you made your one welcome to a Celtic FC statement, on safe standing, you would still have found fault with it.

The reason that you gave was that the statement occurred at a time when RD was struggling. The statement is dated 6th November 2014- we had just won 5 games in a row- including a 5:0 win at Dingwall and a 6:0 thrashing of the Jags. We did only manage a draw away at Astra FC that very evening. Maybe you think “they” are clairvoyant and put the statement out to save us from the wrath of our disappointment at getting an away draw in Europe? Maybe you think that they were just getting round to covering their embarrassment at the home defeat to Hamilton, over a month earlier.

Or, maybe, you just didn’t do much thinking at all.

  20. Warchest Warburton is already yeasterday’s man. The stickie buns will never rise cos they have no dough. He’ll more than a slice of luck or they’ll remain Rank (Hovis) outsiders.

Though the hootsman cites him as being ‘rankers 15th permanent manager’ in the 1st line of its lead article.
