Operation relieve the gullible of £411 each underway

“My father wasn’t at all keen on me becoming a Rangers supporter.  He was a Glasgow policeman and because of that he resented the whole football scene in Glasgow.  ‘He was actually very anti-football.  When we were kids growing up he was very vocal on his dislike of the bigotry in football.  The police in Glasgow at that time saw it as a basis for thuggery.

“My father took me to that first game reluctantly…”

Dave King, shooting the breeze with the Daily Mail in March last year.

“Like all of you who read this letter, I have always taken pride in being a Rangers supporter. It is something I inherited from my father who, in turn, inherited the legacy from my grandfather. This is what Rangers fans do. We pass on our pride and belief in Rangers to our children.”

Dave King’s letter to the season ticket marketing database last week.

One of the two statements is probably true, although with Dave, who knows?  South African judge, Brian Southwood, referred to King as a “glib and shameless liar”.  Despite this, the SFA decided he was an appropriate person to run a football club, free to send out messages like this, with the objective of relieving fans of an average of £411 per person.  This is what happens when you enable people already branded a shameless liar, what do you expect?

I hope the SFA and Trading Standards are alerted to what’s going on, don’t leave it until it’s too late.

I’m waiting for new of the Ben Nevis Huddle, which should have taken place at the peak of the mountain in the last hour.  Over 80 people set out on the climb this morning to raise funds for the Celtic Foundation – to feed the hungry, provide shelter for the homeless and help others in need.

It’s a magnificent Celtic effort.  My wee brother’s up there, you can give his fundraising a pound or two here.  Thank you.

When my dad was sent to stay with family in Johnstone after bombs meant for Clydebank, hit Knightswood, that’s when his fondness of your gran, grew.

Bliff and Dushanbe’s brother were at the game in Gelsenkirchen. Bliff told me he nearly lost his finger as a ring he had on, caught on a fence, when he celebrated Ray’s goal.

It would be great if Johnstone bhoy, Aidan Nesbitt can get a regular start in our first team over next year or two.

  8. Sitting in a Manchester pub. There are none of the locals arching the match. The occasionally check the result as the go to the toilet.

You would get more people taking an interest in a Scottish pub.

No wonder England lost two goals to the pub team that are Slovenia.

Smalling and Jones in defence.Awful players.

Tricoloured, Tyldesley is such a prat.

Italian & Catalunyan tv people said we were the first club to do the treble when the european cup/champions league is won. Heehaw from Tyldesley about it in his commentary at the Barca Rube game a week ago yesterday.

The likes of him are one of the reasons we enjoy England or an English team losing.

When I worked in Manchester there were guys who thought the England setup was anti-Man U. and consequently would’t watch the games. That’s when Man U. were a decent team so some partisan feeling maybe. Perhaps a hangover from those days?

  15. Just logged on and haven’t read back, so not sure if there have been any reports from the Ben Nevis Huddle.

It was a great event. I’ve been on the previous two but thought the conditions yesterday were the toughest yet. There was far more snow making the last 40 minutes or so tough going.

But the camaraderie among the Bhoys and Ghirls helped pull everyone through. Tom Boyd was there again, laughing, joking and getting his picture taken with just about every fan at the top of the mountain.

A fantastic day shared with some great people, raising a few bob for the Celtic Foundation.

With regard to PL, in certain ways he has done a marvellous job, in others he has been found wanting. Celtic is an extremely well run company, however we expect more than corporate performance. There is a social and ethical side to our club that most of us want to be at the forefront, however it often seems to be overlooked. That’s not good enough.

Sometimes the board surprise us with the acts we want to see from them, however, in my opinion, they should be the norm, not surprises.

When all is said and done, we could do a lot worse than the current situation but there is a lot of room for improvement.

The above may seem like wishy-washy, middle of the road platitudes but that is my genuine opinion.

    ———————

    Spot on.

In life if you throw all diametrically, entrenched opinion (and what you will read on here is opinion), you will be close to a true and reliable measuring stick of the issue.

As someone living in the US, my first and foremost frustration is how the club ignore the huge Scots/Irish disporra that populate North America.

Having traveled visited 41 of the 52 US states, and traveled all but 2 of the Canadian provinces, the recognition of the Hoops in the most unlikely place is astounding and the conversations I’ve had over the years in far flung corners of this continent about Celtic are too numerous to mention.

Surely this market is worth tapping into?
