Ordinary looking Celtic fail to show

1243

Despite a remarkably solid defensive record, we have lost four and three goals on our two visits to Ibrox this season, although two of yesterday’s goals were lost with a two man deficit.  We were deservedly a goal down before Cha Du-Ri was ordered off and the contest irrevocably skewed.  Several Celtic players looked panicked from the opening minutes and it wasn’t until Kris Commons started to menace the Rangers midfield that we appeared comfortable in possession.

Until then, we looked pretty ordinary.

After a remarkably consistent run of games that ensured this season’s league title is Celtic’s, two big games, which could each have delivered a trophy, have been lost.

The drive to the line which is needed for teams to fulfil their potential is not there yet. It will come. Days like yesterday, months like October, are what team building is all about.

If you need a pick-me-up, enjoy The Celtic Family video above, its’ sure to hit the spot.

Can Lenny do the big games ? That is still the question.

Just read your post from earlier on and thought to myself, how much of a retard is this guy?

15 points behind, 1-0 down to motherwell, end up winning it 2-1. is that not a big game?

Are the games that followed that, to take us 4 points clear of your mob, not big games?

Are there no big games, taking your team to 3 cup finals in a row, contesting the league to last day of the season and winning the league by a country mile, not to mention the possibility of another final.

flip the coin : beaten by falkirk, malmo, maribor, dundee utd ( out of 4 cups ), losing a 15 point lead in the league.

I wish we had a big game manager like that!!

Either it helps him judge performance or helps them get their stories straight !

watching the game in the pub, at the time I didnt notice Ally’s friendly attempts to shake our players hands.

my wife, who is not a football fan, but who watched the closing stages of the match out of loyalty and to establish how delightful I was going to be on my return from the pub, commented how McCoist appeared to be playing to the cameras rather than having any sincerity in his handshakes.

In fairness a career in television awaits him shortly.

I would never call Neil Lennon a retard. You need to calm down using language like that.

I do think Neil Lennon has a bit more growing up to do. Needs to calm down; be a bit more measured; lose with some dignity even.

What do you think, pedro ?

  7. RogueLeader:

I think by now it ought to be asked: are you related to Murray, or in some way connected to him?

This ‘technically correct’ defence you keep using assumes that Murray would have had the same ‘technical’ view had the incident occurred at the other end of the pitch.

As you hint with your remarks about Murray’s inconsistency and lax attitude to accounting for injury time there is some considerable evidence to suggest that that might not have been the case.

Moreover, on the matter of Murray’s apparent interpretation of the rules, might he perhaps have been influenced by the manner in which the wee diving cheat Wallace lost his legs when in fact Cha had (at most) put his arms across the wee cheat’s shoulders … ?

‘Technically’ Wallace should have been yellow carded for simulation.

mcmoist repulses me, he plays to the gallery all the time, making sure he says what he thinks people want him to say. coming across all friendly and nice to all…… he’s a creep and hopefully at some stage Neil will let us all know what was said last year, to confirm all of the above.

he’s been cut so much slack by the msm and it mustn’t be forgotten that we had clawed back a deficit of 19 points before administration kicked in.

Unless we are drawn against them very soon after the split, I think we’ve probably seen the last ever Old Firm fixture.

Good riddance to it, if that’s the case …

  16. Cha and Wallace were level when Cha put his hand on Wallace’s shoulder (don’t ask me why he did that).

I ask myself, in a sprint to get to the ball which was 10 yards away and rolling further away, who was most likely to get to the ball first ?

And my answer to myself is: Cha.

Wallace knew this and hence flung himself to the ground. But Wallace was not denied an OBVIOUS goalscoring opportunity because Cha would have beaten him to the ball.

He may have made a few mistakes but they were honest mistakes. It is not an easy job trying to build a reich, you know.

  18. I’m in agreement with those who have already said the agenda was set well before a ball was kicked yesterday. However we simply didn’t get out the traps quick enough to prevent that agenda being so easily fulfilled.

A good competitive start in these fixtures is everything in my opinion, all the more so yesterday but even in hindsight I can’t bring myself to be critical of Lenny or the team under the circumstances.

    ;-)

  20. Never felt this relaxed after a derby day defeat.

    Simple facts are:

    we are Champions elect.

We are still in the cup

We can look forward to a pop at the CL next season, maybe a few new players and the growth of a young team.

    They are still bust.

They will be in turmoil for years to come.

I hope they make the most of beating 9 man Celtic, because barring the odd ‘david v goliath’ moment in the next few years it is not going to happen very often. If they are rightly sent to the third division then they will be hoping to avoid us in the cups until they get to the first division and have a reasonable chance of keeping the score down or even doing a Clyde on us.

Let them delude themselves some more while the foundations of their club crumble.

By the way – what were the comparative costs of the two teams yesterday? I wold wager there wasn’t much in it. They were far more experienced too.

I remember Paul67 writing after a drawn game at Celtic park that we had seen the poorest rangers team we were ever likely to see for some time. Well some time has come. Yesterdays rangers were the strongest we will see for a long long time.

    Shame really.

The Cigar and Champagne are on hold for another while. But they will be making an appearance soon:

    League Win.

    Cup Win.

    Rangers Funeral.

Note to self – buy big enough Cigar.

  21. Now that the dust has settled I’m still angry, mate phoned after the game

yesterday, first thing I said, “there is no way we were going to be allowed to win that game” how right I was. Flying up for game on Sunday, can’t wait.

    Keep the faith.

Pol Pot has been confirmed as part of the Asian consortium bidding for Rangers.

Pol Pot has reiterated his policy of butchering intellectuals. This is no cause for concern for anyone connected with Rangers.

  23. Another bright note on a lovely sunny day: the end of this week sees the earliest ever exit of Rangers from European Competition.

Considering that being out by early august is no unknown to them that is some going……

One thing strikes me, was their behaviour, reminded me of the final scene from Psycho, where Norman Bates is put into the car in cuffs, and the voice in his head, telling the world how he’ll show them, how he would’nt harm a fly.

    Stupid huns hehehe

  28. McCoist is a buffoon. He’s a lowest common denominator type of a guy. He appeals to the same demographic who think Tam Cowan is hilarious and Stuart Cosgrove is intellectually insightful.

Someone posted on here a good few days back 2 quotes from McCoist – one regarding us when we had our difficulties between and after the war and the second was his jobe about peple putting the boot in – I hope someone can do me a favour and post them both.

McCoist is a charlatan of a man and a joke as a manager – he has been given the free-est of rides by the compliant media – mainly because he exists in their minds as inextricable from their 9 in a row run.

His record as manager is simply woeful.

But his behaviour as a human being is nothing short of despicable – that tunnel handshake thing is exactly the level of pious, crass stupidity I’ve come to expect from the man. On camera. Oh so dignified. On camera.

He’s a flim flam carny freak. A guy who, like many others, believes in the statement ‘We are the people’ but who could never articulate its meaning.

He probably proof read their banner yesterday – With greatness comes responsibility – oh for the love of the wee man can someone please fedex a dictionary with the pages defining ‘irony’ and ‘stupidity’ bookmarked to Ibrox please?

My mate yesterday was saying – he doesnae realise that any changes at Ibrox means he’ll be the first casualty because he’s rank.

    I replied – I hope he’s not. I hope he sticks around.

3-2 with 9 men on the park? That Ally McCoist – he’s some manager so he is…
