Ordinary looking Celtic fail to show

1243

Despite a remarkably solid defensive record, we have lost four and three goals on our two visits to Ibrox this season, although two of yesterday’s goals were lost with a two man deficit.  We were deservedly a goal down before Cha Du-Ri was ordered off and the contest irrevocably skewed.  Several Celtic players looked panicked from the opening minutes and it wasn’t until Kris Commons started to menace the Rangers midfield that we appeared comfortable in possession.

Until then, we looked pretty ordinary.

After a remarkably consistent run of games that ensured this season’s league title is Celtic’s, two big games, which could each have delivered a trophy, have been lost.

The drive to the line which is needed for teams to fulfil their potential is not there yet. It will come. Days like yesterday, months like October, are what team building is all about.

If you need a pick-me-up, enjoy The Celtic Family video above, its’ sure to hit the spot.

    Yesterday’s result changes nothing.

Celtic will still be champions and Rangers will be liquidated.

    Live with it…

  2. Was any player booked for goal celebrations yesterday?

I noticed at least one climb the advertising hoardings and ‘address the crowd’

Maybe that’s deemed as still being the field of play and wasn’t likely to incite trouble, so that’s alright then. Just ignore me.

  3. Dougall now on SSN:

Cha decision was correct, prevented a goalscoring opportunity

Lennon being sent to the cupboard was correct, manager not allowed to approach referee at half time and he must have been abusive

Wanyama decision was correct, 2 footed lunge (no mention of Whittaker’s over the ball challenge)

    Bocanegra decision was correct

Murray got all the big decision correct and had a very good game.

I could have typed and posted that before even listening to him.

  5. SSN just now stuart dougal….impartial indeed.

Just showed whittakers legbreaker on Vic….shocking.

Will video evidence be used on elbows and whittaker as the ref ‘chose’ to miss both assaults?

Worst 2 incidents in the match were elbows and whittaker yet not even a yellow card between them.

    THAT SUMS THIS COUNTRY UP!!

I’m sure this has been asked before, but with three players and a manager sent off, why are there no headlines about yet another, “O** F*** shame gam?”

Why is everyone in the media so anxious to talk up what a great advert for Scottish football it was?

    Silly question, really.

Kayal – Thats a cracker by Dougall. ‘He must have been abusive’

Anytime a mamager goes to speak to a ref at half time then by the letter of the law I would expect them to be in the stands. Or is that only the case if you are a Celtic manager

  12. Ref for next Sunday is George Salmond

Assistants are Francis Andrews + Stephen Allan. 4th official Euan Norris

Craig Thomson is at Fir Park to watch McCalls men lie down by at least a 3 goal margin

  13. Celtic should appeal Wanyama sending off, and cite Whittakers over the top tackle as part of the defence. He won’t win appeal but by highlighting the over the top tackle they’ll at least have to look at it again and discuss it rather than completely ignoring it.

We should appeal Cha’s sending off and his suspension will hopefully be doubled for a frivilous appeal ;-)

NO surprises Stuart Dougal just appeared on sky sports.

This guy ONLY appears following a Celtic rankers game when there has been controversial decisions in rankers favour.

He said the first red denied an obvious scoring opportunity. He said wanyama’s was correct – he did not comment on whittakers approach to the challenge; I mean the sideways stamping action on wanyama’s shin. He also claimed Lennon ‘probably’ said something offensive to the ref at half time to be sent off. All in all….

Nothing to see here timmy move on!

It’s amazing a derby loss is always sore, even when 18 points clear.

Can’t wait to get them at park head. Rub it right in. We must win the cup too!!

One of them even had the brass neck to wave a soggy tenner in front of the TV cameras, before dropping it into the collection bucket – as if it was something.

    Pathetic.

  16. celticlegends @14.19

‘ I thought a manager was allowed to speak to a ref.’

You would have though so but in reality the ‘rule’ is that the manager can only request to speak to the referee after the game and only if the referee agrees to that request. ( I know we see managers doing it every week at half and full time but technically they cannot. It is just the referees has taken no action -usually)

In this case Neil did asked to speak to the referee after the game and was told after 20 mins then subsequently told that the ref did not wish to speak to him. Again all within the ‘rules’.

Murray (on advice or not) is obviously playing the ‘going by the rule-book’ game with Neil which is another reason for not giving them a chance to do so.

Responsibilities Extended for Daily Record Sports Editor

The sports editor of the Daily Record and Sunday Mail newspapers has had his responsibilities extended.

Austin Barrett is now to also oversee the sports coverage in publisher, Trinity Mirror’s local newspaper titles in Scotland.

The move follows the merging of Trinity Mirror’s Scottish operation – including its Scottish & Universal newspapers division – under the one business name: Media Scotland.

Hence, Barrett will support the sports editor at, for instance, the Paisley Daily Express.

Meanwhile, well-known sports writer and broadcaster, Jim Traynor, is to remain with the paper, to – says Trinity Mirror – “continue to set the agenda through his exclusives and commentary for the Daily Record”, in the capacity of associate editor, sport.

He was previously head of sport and it is understood his new role is to be much less day-to-day.

Earlier this year, the company had begun talks with Traynor regarding his wish to reduce his involvement.”

A night at the races, maybe? In honour of Craig “Shergar” Whyte.

    Tin-pot bankrupts.

  20. George Salmond will referee Sunday’s match between Celtic and St Johnstone.

Salmond has only refereed one other Celtic match this season, the 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock on Boxing Day, and was in charge of the Hibs v Dundee United match on Saturday.

Rangers away match at Motherwell will be refereed by Craig Thomson.

Calum Murray, who refereed the Rangers v Celtic match yesterday, will be the fourth official at the St Mirren v Kilmarnock match.

  29. Dougal is basically another member of the Scottish Goebbels society.

He was a hun with an agenda and whistle.

His only talent like most of his brothers was ineptitude and bias.

That was enough to make him a top Scottish ref.

  30. I think Celtic should make sure the hot wat taps in the Refs room at CP is broken from now on and there isn’t enough towels to spare!

  31. Whitecrook tim,

was there in january, quite a quiet area but there are a number of pubs

  32. There were some on this site,,before the game, extolling the virtues of Murray. What a good honest person, not a bad bone in his body, well I hope they see the real Murray,a cheat, who gave no protection to any Celtic player.

Whittaker committed the worse tackle in the game, result Wanyama sent off

I hope the Celtic players who shook fat face hand, have a good look at themselves ,they let their manager down badly.Slan

“The big question for me is, why are sky consulting discredited dishonest referees ?”

You wouldn’t expect less from Sky. Tanner the Spanner was talking about a possible takeover this week during his interview with Billy Bunter.

To be fair, Bunter did not share Tanner’s optimism. And Tanner doesn’t seem to know Craig Whyte still owns the Huns lock, stock and barrel.

  34. …sounds like Jim has just been given his ‘dinner’…..

(probably not ‘lamb’ this time tho’)

  35. Calumny Murray has had a wee chat with his officials and has just phoned Scott Brown to tell him that he has been red carded for his challenge on McCullochs elbow.

  36. Not sure if this has been mentioned before – the time taken to send off CB for the penalty.

The reason was Sky didnt do an instant replay.

The MIB didn’t know what to do.

That is why the ref wandered along the 6 yard line trying to get a story of the 4th official or the assistant.

No replay – no confirmation from the slo-mo and the MIB hadn’t a clue.

Consequently please look out for the instant replay in big games and the way it is used to help the MIB form a judgement.

That was the scandal of Dougie / Dougie and that is the scandal of the SFA / SPL, they know that it is happening but they know that it is against the rules.
