Ordinary looking Celtic fail to show

1243

Despite a remarkably solid defensive record, we have lost four and three goals on our two visits to Ibrox this season, although two of yesterday’s goals were lost with a two man deficit.  We were deservedly a goal down before Cha Du-Ri was ordered off and the contest irrevocably skewed.  Several Celtic players looked panicked from the opening minutes and it wasn’t until Kris Commons started to menace the Rangers midfield that we appeared comfortable in possession.

Until then, we looked pretty ordinary.

After a remarkably consistent run of games that ensured this season’s league title is Celtic’s, two big games, which could each have delivered a trophy, have been lost.

The drive to the line which is needed for teams to fulfil their potential is not there yet. It will come. Days like yesterday, months like October, are what team building is all about.

If you need a pick-me-up, enjoy The Celtic Family video above, its’ sure to hit the spot.

  1. the glorious balance sheet on

It is ironic that a poster who freely admits to phoning up the Daily Record hotline to chew the cud with plonkers like Hugh Keevins disparagingly refers to two of our players as “media darlings”.

  2. jude2005 is Neil Lennon \o/ on

I spoke to Gavin Berry on the Hotline this morning. Re That I hoped Stokes learned from watching Wallace dive? We’ll see if he prints it.

  4. Out of interest gentlemen if you were to name the two Celts who you consider to be our best and most consistent performers over the season so far, who would they be?

But surely thats the point, this is the league we’re playing in. It doesn’t matter where you think we would finish in another league. We’ll need to be happy for the moment being the best team in Scotland and see if progress can be made from there.

  6. Kev Jungle,

You’re last few posts have been utterly barking.

No basis for most of what you have said

  7. kevjungle – so you’re saying that Celtic and Rangers should have joined forces to break the SPL democratic process and ridden roughshod over the other clubs. That would have gone down well.

  8. Does anyone have a link to the artificial symbolic handhsakes symbolic by the good guy, cheekie chappie?

Such an intelligent and thoughtful reposte, I’m glad we had this little chat.

Disagrre that we would finish bottom in the epl, we did ok in europe this season and will only get better.

    Honest referees are the answer.

  11. I’d go with Sammi and probably Charlie as well. Although I’ve been very impressed by Matthews.

Ok mate, will txt u after game to see where u are at.

    GORBALSTAM,

I see ur point mate but ur missing mine. If we were anyway of a decent side we would have went to IBROX and kept the ball far better than we did, ( THAN WE ARE CAPABLE OF IN MY OPINION )We couldn’t do that because our players are poor.

Think I will take next Monday off.

Or be accused of being a Hun, it happened to me before mate. To be fair, the majority of CQNers are good people as far as I can see but with a small minority if u happen to think negatively re Celtic, ur viewed with suspicion or accused of causing mischief.

It frustrates me no end the lack of technical quality in our team. HOW I’d LOVE A LUBO OR HENRIK TO BE UNEARTHED.

  16. The exiled Tim,

Wigan are a better side than us in my opinion. Victor Moses with his pace and technical quality would destroy our paceless central defence in my opinion.

  17. fergus slayed the blues on

    Re yesterdays result

What chance do you have when one teams game plan is supported by the officials and the other teams is not .

their game plan was to get the ball to elbows and he was to mix it with our back line (how many fouls did elbows get done for and how many did he get )he even put on his little feigning injury stunt (see Kayal )when assaulting SB .

Ours was to play on the shoulder of their slow back line (how many times was Stokes flagged even when clearly 2 yrds onside and the ball up to Sammi to mix it with their back line (how many fouls did Sammi get done for and how many did he get )even when Whittaker takes him out knee high that dirty cheating rat Murray just waved play on .

How many stupid wee free kicks did Murray give us in areas where there was no danger to the FOD .

IMO we were never going to be allowed to win the spl at Ibrokes ,yes we did not play well but they were no world beaters either and when the MIB have on set of rules for one team and a different set for the other it’s a dam sight harder to win a game

I like Charlie, but he wouldn’t be in my top 5. Even though Sammi has not played as many games as Charlie or Joe, he’d be my top pick for this year by a long way.

    1) Sammi

    2) Forster

    3) Wanyama

    4) Ledley

    5) Brown

  19. Enrico Dandolo nicked my Crusade on

    Most consistent players:

Charlie, Kayal, Ki, Forster and Forrest

  20. BBC Scotland not keen to ask the question why Neil might be advised NOT to sit in the ibrox directors boaks………..

  21. Just had a look at the Wanyama sending off at no time does Whittacher even look at the ball his eyes are on Wanyama. He should have been sent off as his intent was to get Wanyama and reality he did get him.
