Organisational indiscipline remains a concern

949

Yesterday’s win at Fir Park was huge for Celtic’s season but we should caution against talk of a corner being turned.  The team possessed the resilience (and Irish magician) to come from behind and beat the team who were second in the league, but we have been here before.

The Motherwell goal will cause Neil Lennon particular concern.  After losing a goal to an early corner kick against Rennes on Thursday, it seems impossible to believe that the team switched off at another corner kick, but only Beram Kayal was alert to the threat of Motherwell taking a short corner, and he was already covering a threat.

Organisational discipline is as important as having better players to the outcome of many football games.

If the good people of scotland opened their eyes they would see where the problem lies.

I believe that the system is geared to stopping the players playing, and the people who control the game the referees, are allowing this to happen.

Take craig thompshun for instance, when he is reffing euro matches he is a decent enough ref, when he refs in the spl he allows the cloggers to stop the players.

The referees or their supervisors are the problem, guys like Messi, Xavi, Innestia would all struggle here, a few studs down the back of the legs, a few tackles like James Forrest got yesterday renders them as good as a passenger.

Sort the referres sort the problem.

  9. and heres how.

This theory takes NO CONSIDRATION of the differing muscle types and their effect on power and motion.

TYPE 1 and TYPE 2 muscle.

We all have it, some have more of one than the other and CRUCIALLY you can train in certain ways to ensure the dominance of one type over another.

Marathon runners will do distance work to increase their type 1 muscle and very little short distance sprint work (and only to help shave a few seconds off their times)

Sprinters work on their type 2 muscle to increase the dominance of this faster reacting and more powerful muscle group.

    WHY NOT INVERT THE TRIANGLE???

If you train kids, who will predominantly do short distance sprints to retrieve the ball, press the space or help a team mate, to work on short and medium distance sprints EXCLUSIVELY you will do TWO things.

INCREASE THEIR AEROBIC BASE AS A RESULT so no need for distance work (thumbsup)

and DEVELOP STRONGER HAMSTRINGS which can only be a good thing.

    You like my thinking???

SPRINTING does not equal DOGGY SPRINTS BTW.

    Ypu need to be creative.

Uphill sprints (resisted sprints at a SLIGHT incline)

Downhill sprints (assisted sprints at a slight decline)

weighted sprints (a special suit or pulling a weight, dragged along the ground, tied round chest, shoulders and under both arms)

    Et al!

Right. If you read any of that you need to now pay me.

    Thanks

Go easy on the old vino, I like you use it as a stress release sometimes to excess though, the golf has been good to me this season, round about the greens where I am keeping good scores, the older I get the less distance the ball seems to travel.

Keep at it, keep it simple, swing slow.

Golf is similar in many ways to football, get the basics right and it’s a doddle :>)

  14. The Exiled Tim,

Was reading of your trauma with increasing anxiety over the weekend.

Nothing is worth exploding with high BP.

I have found myself getting to the same state, including getting berated by my wife for getting worked up.

Tried to explain that rearing up on me wasn’t helping the old BP. No good.

The cause, at the time, of my stress, was the influx to CQN of wide boys, Kleeneze brush salesmen and horse traders, who seemed intent in derailing the blog.

A lot of the stuff was nothing to do with Celtic and much of it was nonconstructive abuse.

It was around them that personal attacks became commonplace and many good posters left.

As well as good posters leaving, I also left. Not quite a flounce, more a dignified retreat.

Paul’s response to the direction the blog was taken, was to appoint Moderators and this worked well, until the blog format changed.

Thankfully, the blog has, more or less settled down and anyone who is inclined to stray is quickly brought into line.

All that has damn all to do with your apoplexy from yesterday, though.

I have adopted a fairly, for me, sanguine position over this season’s results.

Like you, I know that the big game will be played off the field and it is such a major event in Scottish football that results are of almost secondary importance.

Victories, I enjoy as much as ever, but, dropped points are not affecting me as they used to.

If you can adopt something like this approach, then you should be able to watch games without unduly risking your health….and get a break from a nagging senora.

    Me? I’m almost cured

Will we will active in the January transfer window?

Ally has said that he would like to bring in someone but quote…

“In an ideal world we’d like to replace Steven in January, but we’re not in an ideal world at the moment. That is pretty obvious and time will tell on that.”

Doesn’t sound too convincing to me!

If we did have say £2million, would we rather it be spent on 1 player with real quality or 2 or 3 that would boost the squads numbers?!

If I was Ally I would spent the lot on a pacey centre forward, we are rumoured to be in for Dane Richards who is at LA Galaxy, id take this lad.

Thoughts on other players we like?

  21. enjoying the discussion on coaching and fitness. I too coach to SFA level four , to be honest I seldom refer back to the notes now. Good for some drills but not for what I want our boys to do. My mantra is pass, move receive, yes the Barca way, we also mark zonally to clear our box more quickly and counter attack more effectively. We have almost always been the slightest team in our league but we are not shrinking violets. yesterday we got beaten by a very strong side at least 1 year and 2 stone heavier than our boys, they also played good football and had 7 ex pro youth players in their team.Their coach praised our boys as the best football team he had seen all season;that gave me great pleasure, the best part was that our boys took pride in it too. Our parent/supporters also give great support, I always play all my subs irrespective of the score and believe this helps the team spirit.

I used to be a loudmouthed coach who knew nothing, the SFA courses do instil the ethos of respect and fair play so for that they should be praised and they helped me see the right way forward.

Regarding fitness work , I restrict all running to 5/6 minutes of work at any one time and that is mainly pre season, the boys will only run without a ball, for a maximin of 18 minutes in a 90 minute session, most weeks its only 12 minutes. We play small sided “2 touch” games to keep the lads moving in triangles. In 3 seasons I have never heard a boy say “training is crap” some of them don`t like the running, neither do I. I have downloaded the link from earlier on the Barca defence and will try it out, thanks.
