Other Scottish clubs would be better off if Celtic Park and Ibrox didn’t exist

1234

There comes a time during any endeavour when you have to ask, is this worth all the hassle?  News revealed by Phil MacGiollabhain last week and swiftly picked up by the newspapers today that an SFA executive has had his life threatened for what some regard as holding a firm line on application of the game’s rules, are one of these occasions.

This is sport, it is not the struggle against apartheid.  It really, really, isn’t worth putting your life on the line for.

The SFA executive who received the threat has not been named but he will hopefully find a degree of fortitude in the face of such intimidation.  We have called for resignations from the SFA but not under these circumstances.  If the recipient of the threat continues to work as normal they should be commended for their bravery.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to put football back on solid ground but whatever our game looks like in future, it must take on a different face.  Ordinary football fans want their sport back, a sport where honesty and endeavour can be rewarded by success on the field.

That will have consequences for us.  Celtic are far too powerful for any other club in Scotland to genuinely compete.  35 of our 41 clubs figured out they can do without Rangers and 34 of them know they can do without Celtic too.

They should remind Sevco rules are there for a reason and tell Celtic to stop mumbling about finding another league to play in and go do something about it.  I could not be more convinced that every other club in Scotland would be better off if Celtic Park and Ibrox didn’t exist.

Question is, do the rest of the clubs have the balls to do something about it?  Is the ‘Arab Spring in Scottish football’ over, or does it still have another chapter?

hi all looking for bit of info. Does anyone know if there is a supporters bus picks up in Busby/Clarkston area. Any contact details? Got some friends who are interested. Sure I’ve seen a few crowds waiting in the past but not sure if it is still running. Cheers HH.

Might be nice if Celtic fans were to adopt Sevco as their “wee team”… might even have some bearing on the new name, colours, kit design etc… Just saying.

If Celtic fail to reach the CL group stage, I would wager that no more than 10 of the 32 clubs will have a higher average attendance than us. As recently as the 2008/09 season Celtic were, according to ‘World Soccer’, the 8th best supported club in the WORLD: av attendance over 57,000!! The following season it dipped below 50,000 and in 2010/11 went up slightly to,if I remember correctly, about 49,000, but we were still in the top 15 in the world. Not bad for a club playing in a so called ‘diddy league!?

But therein lies the problem! I am convinced that we must aim higher, but no matter in what league Celtic should happen to be playing in, the supporters will come out and support the team!

‘The Celtic Family Pray For Kyle & His Family’

We are rightly very proud of our bond, we call ourselves family, we are largely brought even closer than most fans of most clubs because of the historical oppressive treatment afforded to our club, our fans, our people.

Today, it is more important than ever that the ‘Celtic Family’ pull together and in unison provide the family of young Kyle Whyte, 20, of Moray with our sincere best wishes and our full support.

For those not familiar with the young fan in question, Kyle attended the recent pre-season friendly against Ajax, in Amsterdam.

Unfortunately Kyle took unwell at the airport whilst awaiting his flight home and now is on a life support machine.

Kyle it would appear has been a very unfortunate individual health wise and most of his young life has been tarnished by the presence of a rare blood disorder.

Having had a bone marrow transplant in 2009, it was hoped that Kyle would go on to live a full and healthy life, unfortunately the recent tragedy which see’s him clinging to life in a Amsterdam hospital appears to have put paid to such an optimistic outlook.

My first hope is that he recovers quickly and is able to return home, my second is that he goes on to attend many more Celtic games as a fighting fight young man.

Kyle and his family are clearly very brave and very motivated individuals. Kyle today and for as long as is necessary will be very much in my thoughts and I will pray for him and the entire Whyte family.

I hope the Celtic Family can come together at this difficult time and express their well wishes and to pray for young Kyle.

    WE ARE ALL KYLE WHYTE!!

    God bless the young man.
