Paddy the wizard, Paddy the athlete, he’s going all the way

547

We like Patrick Roberts; all of us do. He’s the kind of player who gets fans out of their seats, an entertaining throwback to a time when wing wizards were wanted by all. But Patrick is more than that.

I spent a bit of time with him last year at an Adidas ‘Backed by Messi’ event. He was very chilled for most of the day, before becoming sharply focussed, “I need to eat.” “I need to eat” was said several times. It had an urgency, the time for shooting the breeze was over, within minutes, a meal was needed to keep physiological objectives on plan.

Patrick wasn’t seeing many first team minutes at that time, but focus was complete. This is an athlete who plans to go all the way in the game.

He’s at Celtic because he wanted to be here. Manchester City were looking for an incredible figure for his transfer, well over double Celtic’s previous highest transfer fee, although perhaps not so incredible given the market in England. Without Patrick’s patience, City would have found a buyer, but Patrick knows where he and Celtic are going this season.

Great to have you back, Paddy.  You’re going to love playing centre half.  Ask big Nir, it’s an absolute blast!

  1. Jason Denayer would do for me. He was immaculate for us first time round . Picked up a few caps for Belgium. I think would slot in well beside Boyatta. Sunderland wasn’t great for him but they were a shambles. Get him in Brendan.

  3. I am also of the opinion that St.Johnstone didnt park the bus on Saturday.

The first half they pressed us higher than most teams have in the last 2 years under Brendan.

The second half Celtic just overan them and the could not maintain their first half pressing.

Even though it wasnt Celtics best performance if you look at chances alone, the crossbar, and a brilliant opposing keeper the score could quite easily have been 10-2

The last 20 mins we should have scored 6

    ” Climate change.”

The new term for ” global warming. ”

    Why the change ?

Because it was a more precise term than the one first used and to attempt to stop (unsuccessfully in your case) people making the specious argument that “because the earth’s climate changes naturally (due to any number of cyclic factors, including solar cycles, La Nina, variations in the earth’s orbit/tilt) that it can’t also change due to human activity” Why would one exclude the other? This continues to be the single worst argument that climate change deniers come up with… that somehow the existence of natural variability means that human-induced climate change cannot exist. It’s a completely illogical argument!

Because there hasn`t been any global warming . Ask NASA.

This Nasa seem to accept Climate Change is man made. Is there another NASA you were thinking of?

    It`s all a theory.

    Not a fact .

Have you studied Science? A theory is a good thing. It does not mean a made up set of unproven assumptions. A theory is the best fit explanation for established observations (or faccts as you call them). It is designed to be disprovable, not to be proven. Has anyone disproved it yet or shown that there is a better fit theory? Or is the global scientific community just saying anything to chase the buck of government research grants? As opposed to the deniers of man made climate change, who get grants from the great despoilers of the environment, who just happen to have more riches available to buy a maverick opinion or two?

Not a problem mate, it’s as I said just me, I’m not big on stats, and I also don’t think Tommy Wright is a good manager and St J are a bellow average team and caught a tired Celtic team, stats can be used anyway to suit an end result, any stats on the flying hours, and sleep, and a five hours time difference on a three day trip to Asia, against what the St J team did last week, on how that affected the game? As I said they can go on and on with stats and form, and if they where all right and counted, there would be no bookies :)) as I said it’s just not for me, undefeated still is my only stat :))

I’m not sure if it can strictly be classed as a theory, or even a hypothesis, because it’s not testable or verifiable.

1 thing – Unimportant Asian floods. Check Texas. Vote winner.

Other thing. Now this is just my opinion. But St J played very well defending from front. No matter we still were good enough to beat them. They got a fortuitous goal and we should have scored 3 or 4.

    Well , yes.

There have always been “events” but the sceptical and disputatious scientific community, which is not an easy one to fool, has gradually become more and more convinced that the observations and facts fit best within a model of a “Man made Climate Change” theory.

The alternative “theory” that “there have always been mass climatic events, therefore the current increase is just a blip (probably)” is not a Disprovable Theory because, no matter how much evidence accumulates, you can still disappear into the bolt-hole of saying – “Well, it’s a bigger longer-lasting blip”. Untill there’s not enough air left to provide breath for such a long sentence.

Denayer played well alongside the best centre half we’ve had in my lifetime Virgil van Dijk (not the best servant, a la Billy McNeil, the best player) but couldn’t kick his own arse in the last two seasons, he was appalling for Sunderland, fat and unfit looking.

Edouard’s claim to fame is his involvement or not in a shooting incident?

I would stay well clear of both.

I am afraid you are going to be “Underwhelmed”.What would you suggest Celtic do?.The French guy Brendans team have been monitoring last season while on loan.If Brendan thinks he can do a job for us,who are we to argue.Dembele will be back. All this nonsense about “An injury problem”.Its a hamstring injury.Suffered by many players. He came back too soon.Denayer ,I think is just hacks grasping at a story. He is on 50 grand a week.Celtic will be trying desperately to get a CH in.On loan or permanent, but its not easy.BR will only sign a CH that suits him.The horrendous amount of injuries to key men has been the problem and losing the boy Rivaldo, did not help.Only so much you can do.
