  1. I don’t know why these clubs spend almost a quarter of a billion on their front three.

All teams need to do is mark your opponent and win your own personal battle and they can’t score against you.

    Bit of simplistic view IMHO.

Anyhows, I expect some new defenders in January and we move a step closer to being a Pot 3 team challenging for second place rather than a Pot 4 team hoping for Europa place.

Steady progress is the way forward. I know of former teams who took a different approach. Look where that ended. The cemetery.

  2. Aye but i suppose that when we get to the magical 55 the rest of Europe will really sit up and take notice as the American billionaires of irish descent come rolling in to bankroll us to European glory

  3. James Forrest played a Great Game AGAIN.

I’ll never forget away to Udinese.

James was Incredible against PSG considering he is a winger.

You’ll not be surprised that I disagree with everything you say, given you don’t post ( except when there is a European defeat ) and we are playing against a team where common sense never mind football knowledge tells you we’ll probably lose, sometimes heavily like tonight.

I’m pretty sure Celtic’s attitude and appetite was well coached in the lead up to the match just as it was when we played a team arguably on par with our status in Brussells and won 3-0.

We played Simunovic and Boyata our best ( spine ) at the club.

We didn’t carve them open we made three or four chances and took one.

We didn’t watch them score with ease, we made efforts to stop every attempt

but failed against superior quality a la 200Million.

Did you listen to BR’s interview and analysis of the game?

    If not, why not?

If you did and you disagree have you applied for the job any time in the last ten years? or are you just a Blogger ( like me ) spouting nonsense when Celtic get gubbed?

What would you like to change? – don’t answer that – it’s all the boards fault, and a lack of investment, ( stock answer to Celtic’s woe’s )

  6. I thought our mental strength against Bayern at Celtic park was better than in previous champions league games.

Tonight we started with attitude but confidence evaporated at their goal.

We need to be better in this area.A good result against Anderlecht and good run in Europa would see us better prepared for next years European adventures.

Another area that needs addressed is defensive ball watching .We have been guilty of this all season..Astana away,PSG at home and Bayern away it was obvious and also cost us a point against Bayern at home on second goal.

We need a designated defensive leader who controls the line and assignmentsnts.

Neymar hit a brilliant diagonal that Mbappe volleyed and Gordon saved in first half.

He was onside and behind Simo who was Ballwatching but it was KT 2 yards behind our other defenders who played him onside.

  7. Missed the game due to a medical appointment.

My prediction of a loss was easy, but the margin is a surprise.

I should have gone with the number of stitches I had removed from my temple.

Brendan will earn his corn dissecting the plusses and picking a confident team for Sunday, which we all know is a far more important game in our attempt to keep the run going and retain a trophy.

My plan to watch the game when I got home is officially ditched. Instead I will read back and note the posters who have been missing.

I’m sure I will be singing on Sunday and not just hymns at mass.

    Per ardua ad astra.

    Have to agree to disagree.

We were poor and gave them easy goals.

We played — in the main — as individuals.

No-one wanted to take any responsibility.

JF getting the ball in space on the half way line only to pass it back time after time epitomised our lack of belief and vision.

We were poorly set up for tonight’s game.

Against top drawer teams we used to be autograph hunters now we are rabbits in the headlamps.

Could we have played any worse?

BR needs to step up and get his team ready for the battle.

I might be a retired egg chaser but I can spot a poorly prepared team with no leadership or drive pretty easily. We lost 70/30 balls all night and jumped out of tackles.

The lure of a LCF was too much for most of the team.

Things need to change — we are a CL laughing stock.

  9. Lose the first goal in two weeks time and their won’t be a couch big enough.

We are a much more talented side than Anderlecht but we are brittle with glass jaw that makes us vulnerable to anyone with a bit of belief.

We need to lose the fear.

    We are better than that.

  10. Just like Feyenoord, Aston Villa, Hamburg, Steau Bucharest, Red Star Belgrade, Marseille, PSV and Dortmund, Celtic are European history. Never happen again. Even more corrupt than Scotland and thats saying something. Anyway most Tims are parochial schizo twats who only want to gub the huns and thats saying something too.

  11. I’m always reluctant to post soon after a defeat. Prefer to sleep it off, and wait til next day when emotions and reactions are less knee jerk.

    However, some of my observations…

PSG has 10-11 shots on target over 90 mins.

For first 20 mins we restricted PSG to 1 shot on target (Neymar’s 1st goal). An improved performance compared to Bayern away, imo, up to that point.

How much was that down to our play, and how much may be attributed to PSG complacency in first 20 mins (expecting easy game?)

By 35th minute, PSG had 4 shots on target and were 4-1 up.

As poor as we were at crucial moments in game, they were clinical at finishing up to this point.

Neymar’s 2 goals were daisy cutters, just inside the far post.

Brown played a poor pass to Ntcham to concede possessions before 1st goal. He then went to ground in attempt to retrieve the situation but failed to stop progress of PSG player (Rabiot?) who played excellent pass to Neymar whose 1st touch was sublime in making it hard for Lustig to block shot.

2nd goal was great inter play by PSG. Brown twice let an opponent play a 1-2 around him, and both times ball watched instead of tracking runner off the ball. Poor by Brown (?) or simply outdone by superior skilled opponents? Depends on your viewpoint.

3rd & 4th goals came from poorly defended set plays, incl failure to track runners off the ball.

We kept them to 4-1 until 75th minute.

Then lost 3 goals in space of 5 mins, possibly due to tiredness (mental & physical) after getting the runaround for most of game.

Of course we’re all upset at result. That’s understandable. But we were up against a class side. When some of our players underperformed at crucial moments in the game we were punished severely. 7/10 shots on target hit our net. Yet I don’t blame Gordon, who helped keep it down to 7 with some good saves. Score line could have been worse.

Anyway, we can look back and slag players for not being as good as we’d like for 90 mins of every game. Or we can accept that we are a team trying to improve, which will take time. We are currently closer to EL level than CL level as far as being competitive is concerned. Let’s put on a good show v Anderlecht and look forward to Euro football post Xmas.

    Ramble over :-)

Bed for me. In the morning I’ll still be looking forward to a cup final on Sunday. :-)

  12. After losing 5-0 to PSG, we beat Ross County 4-0.

After losing 3-0 to Bayern, we beat Hibs 4-2.

After losing 2-1 to Bayern, we beat St Johnstone 4-0.

Anyone want to lay money on us scoring 4 on Sunday?

  17. Every year hundreds of teams all over Europe set out to win their league and qualify for the Champions League. Out of they hundreds we were drawn against the 2nd and 3rd favorites. Were we expected to beat them? Not when bookies were giving 28 to 1 against it. Never happy getting beat BUT always happy supporting Celtic. We were up against some great players both in attack and defence but had to battle away. Neymar may not be a nice person but is one helluva fitba player. His crossfield ball to Mbappe was inch perfect but big Craig saved his volley. We played some poor passes and gave away possession too easily at times. A few times when we did try to break PSG were quite happy to foul the player and thus neutralize the play, that’s life with the big boys.

It’s on to the cup final (remember that visiting Huns) and up to Brendan to lift our boys again and show what we are made of.

So boys get a good rest, keep supporting the Celtic. For you other readers remember the words of a very wise man ” yer teams deid”

    HH

  18. yeah

yer teams deid except they arent. The huns are not deid you bunch of psychos. Celtic need them very much alive for PLC income and to satiate the bigotry. Otherwise they would be deid.

  20. It will sink in soon enough that football – at the very top level – has changed. 10 years ago we had a puncher’s chance against the top teams. Now, we are 100-1 shots against the real elite.

The income of lower/mid level CL clubs (ie us in a good year) has not kept pace with the global juggernauts that Arab and Russian oil money has created. You can criticise the board all you like, and criticise Brendan for not having a Plan B, but ultimately you’re howling at the moon.

The stark reality is that no amount of parking the bus, “getting intae thum”, “winning your personal battles” would have got us a result. Kept the score to 5? Maybe, but unless someone is willing to take a red to crock Neymar in the first minute, there’s little our players can do to disrupt a team like PSG.

In Liverpool or Man United’s group, we’d have stood a chance of second. But that’s not why the CL was created, was it?

  23. If Lustig is oot for Sunday, it’ll be a blessing, in that, when he gets roughed up, he goes down like an entitled hun, looking for decisions that, Scoattish laws, deny Cellic players. Motherwell’s players will be tooled up to face us, and the likes of Lustig will be targeted.

Craig Gordon is a hun going through the motions…..get rid.

Broony is brilliant aginst Scoattish pub teams, he’s too auld for the CL.

Brendan dizny park the bus because he’s an idealist, jist like the idealistic Cellic managers who were sacked in the early 90’s.

    Anywye,…….

£48 million a year for being the pub team of Europe is grand, if, the vast majority of the £48 million gets put back onto the pitch, or, is reinvested in a new tier to the Main Stand, to be opened free of charge for the, disabled, the poor, the homeless, indeed, the new tier should be opened 24 / 7 to cater for the needs of the categories of folks mentioned, that, is what it “should” mean to be Celtic!

    ————————————————————————————————————————–

The dogs on the street know why the CL was created. The bigger questions are how long are rest of Europe going to stand being willing participants in this ritual slaughter and will fans continue to buy expensive ticket packages knowing the competition is rigged and run by a corrupt organisation?

Having a party in the Champions league???? Having a laugh more like.

  25. I deliberately stayed away from here last night after the defeat as experience on here has taught me one thing in particular….there are so called Celtic fans who hardly never post…but only come on here and try to tell the rest of us all about fitba, whenever The Hoops get beaten ?

You’re not on , why don’t you all go and “support” feckin Stenhousemuir etc ?

Considering the way the Celtic board have backed brendan up to now, and the way that they speak of Brendan, I am very hopeful that the board will now really hand Brendan a large war chest for January ?

However, we should keep in mind that Brendan and other managers have spoken in the past how difficult it is in the January transfer window, to sign real quality etc ?

Having said that, I feel our present squad is more than capable of a good run in the Europa league WHEN we beat Anderlecht…after scoring at least 4 goals at Celtic Park.

After being well and truly gubbed by PSG twice, I like to believe that Brendan holds the Aces with the Board when it comes down to a transfer war chest, as Brendan could simply ask for some real money, and IF the board said “NO”….then Brendan could say…”Be prepared for more gubbings in the Champions League” ?

For myself, it didn’t matter whether it was 4 or 7 goals that PSG scored….if PSG had “only” won” 4 – 0 last night many on here would STILL be greetin .

Finally, these ” doings” from PSG could be a blessing in disguise…time will tell ?

On another small matter, I posted yesterday that just ONE Celtic Goal v PSG…would have any Hun ripping up their bookie lines….and after ONE minute we scored…and I couldn’t help think to myself about all those Hurtin Huns tearing up their bookie lines around 7.46 pm !

I fully expect the Celtic Bhoys will be VERY anxious to put this Mudderwell mob to the sword this Sunday…especially if Brendan and The Bhoys read ALL the crap that some Mudderwell players have been telling the media whilst we were in Paris….hopefully I will be proved correct come Sunday….and Celtic steamroll this Mudder Mob ?

Oh, I meant to add….when ma heid came off the pillow this morning…I was STILL a Celtic supporter….some of the part timers on here would do well to think about that…but that’s up to them, as I couldn’t give a toss for these so called “supporters” !

  26. CultsBhoy- Last of the famous international PlayBhoys on

I’ve stated my satisfaction above. Last night is merely a step in a long journey.

In all probability that journey will end in us being a pot 3 team.

We will still get doings as a pot 3 team given the ever increasing gulf between pot 3 and the top two seeds in each group.

Football has a new hierarchy. We are not part of Europe’s elite nor can we ever be playing as we do in Scotland.

Domestic trophies and European money is our future.

  27. I hope that EVERY Celtic player is fit for this Sunday…burstin to get on that pitch and hammer that mob …7 – 1 .
