  1. They are a better side than the Barcelona side we beat. They are now the benchmark. How much did Man Utd spend this year? Basel have just beaten them. PSG will destroy any of the EPL sides, bar perhaps Man City.

200 million quid for one player? And that is without factoring in wages.

Celtic are still on an upward learning curve.

Agree, Celtic conceding 7 goals is unacceptable.

    ———-

    Hate that term – “unacceptable”.

    “Unacceptable” ffs!!!

    Unacceptable to who – you???

No one is happy about it, nobody likes it – but “unacceptable” ? What exactly do people mean by that?

If it is “unacceptable” fot you, then don’t accept it – support someone else that performs in a way that is acceptable to your high standards.

    Geis peace.

Some on here need a reality check ….pathetic, really ……. and McLean needs to transfer to sevco tv

  4. short memories on here – just about every fan has been crying out for at least two quality defenders since BR took over. We need to address this in Jan

The board didn’t believe we could do anything in champs league, BR didn’t believe, the players certainly didn’t believe, and the fans didn’t either.

europa cup is our level bur now they all know we only play one dimensional.

  5. We could play the more defensive, safe football of WGS or Lenny and get an occasional good result. Maybe. The bigger teams in Europe are now miles ahead of the rest, even more so than when WGS and Lenny were taking us to the last 16. In the last two season we’ve had Barca, Man City, Bayern and PSG in our group, 4 of the 5 club’s who are playing a different game from the rest. We’ll never learn if we never try, we will definitely not progress if he keep playing a negative back to the wall style, we need to keep doing what we’re doing but do it better. Buy better central defenders, buy a better keeper (2 positions BR hasn’t strengthened yet) and develop young players who can keep possession of the ball.

  6. I would happily give up the hotel for a couple of higher quality Centre Halfs every day of the week.

Just build an Almore Cafe and spend the rest on the football team for now.

  7. we need a strong sevco if we are gonna improve how have we coped with out them after all they know all about corruption

  8. Tom English is an idiot. He knows nothing about football and is basically a shock-jock pretending to be intellectual and worldly.

He loves sticking the boot into Celtic and never gives us any credit when we win. Let them enjoy living vicariously through the Medievalist-Monarchy- funded PSG. It’s all they’ve got left.

  9. I reckon Murderwell will suffer on Sunday. Let’s put this into perspective PSG have so far scored 24 and lost 1goal in their 5 CL games. We could have set up to park the bus, but we gave it a go, ( the Celtic way ). We are of course the only team to score against them. However I hope we push the boat out and strengthen our defence for the Europa League.

  10. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Agree perspective needed.

But PSG haven’t scored seven against anyone this season before tonight.

We clearly do something on the pitch that makes arrogant tossers think ‘mincemeat’.

I’d like them to think, occasionally, “I’m not going into that collision because I’m worth 200m and a whack on the leg makes me 1% less effective and takes two million bucks off my price tag”.

PS – holidaying abroad. Had a few.

    Hail hail

  11. Great stuff from Brendan

Mistakes cost us, end of, been saying it for years, stop making mistakes, we are no that bad, stop giving the ball away, PSG didn’t give us the ball many times tonight, we gave them the ball time and time again, that’s that’s we need to learn.STOP GIVING THE BALL AWAY

  12. Celtic played a terrific Barcelona team a few years ago and were unlucky to lose 2-1 away conceding in extra time and then beat them 2-1 at home both performances built on strong defense.

  13. Composure on the ball, passing to team-mates, quality in possession, movement and pace – all of these were evident in PSG’s play tonight. Amazing what money buys you. But, our goal was a cracker (I think we tried the same move recently, can’t remember against whom though). So, onwards to Sunday and hopefully a better showing then. We’ll all still be Tims in the morning. HH

  14. It’s not the kind of lesson that i enjoyed our team getting.

But if we can take anything from this game it should be how to pass and move .

I have often lamented the demise of the diagonal ball especially with Pirlo retiring ,

But they used that tactic brilliantly tonight.Against a ball watching defense it carries less risk but it was a joy to watch despite it being against my team.Their scouts obviously noted our tendency to ballwatch that has been evident this season.

On Saturday i mentioned our slow build up allowing teams to close us down and tonight it was evident again.

They had greater awareness of teammates when receiving a pass and their quick one touch passing had us chasing all night.

Had me thinking of playing two touch at five’s many years ago and would hope we integrate this in our coaching regime to make us a faster multi paced team.

  15. Parking the bus is pointless. PSG aren’t going to be suffocated by anyone, let alone us.

Our best chance of a result was, sadly, luck. Luck that they had nothing to play for, or rested their star men. At 1-4 it looked like they had rested for the night. But they are supremely professional and just didn’t let up.

Park the bus and you learn nothing

Totally disagree my friend, Brendan has coached players to become better. If we ‘parked the bus-, i think players who are not natural defenders, would have better awareness, and we would defend better as a team in the long run HH

  18. For those advocating parking the bus, we played 5-3-1 in the second half, made no difference. If the players aren’t good enough, and the opposition are infinitely better, it’ll be the same result 99 time out of 100

  19. STEBHOY on 22ND NOVEMBER 2017 9:43 PM

thanks for that Brendan – I wonder if the players will be losing confidence in that stupid, almost arrogant philosophy for future euro games. more damage done than good! why don’t you challenge our players to defend for a change.

Heresy on here.Anyway,if we beat Anderlecht at Celtic Park,we take 6 points from this group, never mind the gubbins.A fantastic haul in this company, and 3 million payout.

Anderlecht were terrific tonight.Really unlucky, through bad finishing to get beat.

Anyway, sets us up for a party in December when we qualify for the Europa.

Party on Sunday will do me in the meantime.

  20. Cosy Corner Bhoy on

Well we were gubbed but we were there to be gubbed! We qualified to play CL. Where are Rob McLeans pet teams?

Gutted we lost so heavily but the 3rd place was always the optimum

Will McLean be sooo enthusiastic about a two goal Celtic player going for a hat trick on Sunday.

Worst thing about is that makes the 12-3 aggregate for the Hun look good…..Shit!

  21. RAYMAC

Not sure that Man city defense would contain the PSG frontline.

Pep’s lack of pragmatism would also make PSG favorites

  22. Almore

At end of game, you see Simonuvic heading towards Neyclass to shake hands

Neyclass changes direction into the middle of the park to avoid him

Ignoramus, and why I can’t stand him as a player , talent but Neyclass

  23. ‘Park the bus and you sometimes reach European finals’ extract from The Rangers (IL) book of Walter Smith’s European football tactics.

  24. STEBHOY on 22ND NOVEMBER 2017 9:43 PM

To defend at that level you need good defenders. We don’t have good defenders. They don’t defend domestically, they don’t need to and they aren’t good enough in Europe.

  25. Parking the Bus

Teams week in week out do it against us and usually we beat them.

Anyone expecting us to do any different against the best players on the planet are oot of their heeds imo.

  26. Goooodnight CQN

Just think, we wake up tomorrow with a cup final to look forward too, and going for 65 :-)))

    Hail Hail and Nytol

  27. We need to keep some perspective.

The Bhoys who got hammered tonight have gone unbeaten in Scotland for 64 games.

I’m gutted, I’m sure deep down every poster here is gutted as well but I will not put the boot into Brendan or the team or indeed scapegoat any individual player on tonight’s display.

I do worry about Brendan’s philosophy in Europe but he is a great Boss so I just have to live with it.

We were 4th seed in a very difficult group. if we come third we will have punched above our weight, a few huge games coming up, we need to close ranks & get behind the Bhoys.

In less than 2 weeks this nightmare will be a distant memory.

  28. DENIABHOY on 22ND NOVEMBER 2017 10:03 PM

Tobago Street et al – “Park the bus and you learn nothing”.

I’ve said the same thing to this point after other thumpings, what if a place in the next round or passage to the the wee tourney comes down to goal difference? We know we are not getting three points from these games but surely to hell we can set up the team so that if/when that scenario occurs we have been street wise enough to give us a chance of going through?

Deniabhoy: fair point, well made. I can’t argue against it but I would rather we try to score rather than try to prevent goals. And yes I understand we should always try todo both.

  29. Hi Bhoys

I was hoping at the start of the game our bhoys wouldn’t shake hands with neymark after his behaviour with young Ralston at the end of our first game.

That wee shit really gets under my skin I’m not a violent person but if I met him________

    KEEP THE FAITH

  30. PAUL67 on 22ND NOVEMBER 2017 9:40 PM

Harsh truth: Brendan should speak to Gordon Strachan about how to defend at this level. Gordon did it w lesser players and defenders.

Apart from his first European game? :)

  31. there is a difference between parking the bus and defending to hit on the break – 101 of how to play away games in Europe, no? we have pace in the team to play that style. granted, we need better defenders but more numbers back helps. some of the defending tonight was really amateurish – watch James f at the sending goal, in fact most goals we stood back and admired rather than closing down and hustling.

maybe we accepted defeat and saved for Sunday.

  32. Corky

So why worry, we are doing fine, no lost a game in scotland, europe is a bit different right enough, but even a narrow loss against Anderlecht sees us in the europa knock out, we are doing good under Brendan, no need to worry mi amigo.

    HH

    :-)

  33. Almore’s cafe. Haven’t heard that in a while. Who needs the CL? Give us a fans’ café beside the Superstore and I’ll be like a pig in muck:-)

Cowiebhoy: I hope he never gets UEFA/FIFA player of the year. Loads of talent but no class.

Confident we can progrès to first stage of a double treble on Sunday.

    Oíche mhaith.
