Performing with an edge, naked opportunism

1065

If you were a professional football player, you would love to be in the Celtic dressing room tomorrow evening.  You would have the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself; put in a big, meaningful performance.  Record a bit of history and create a uniquely memorable victory.

There are some players who are fraught with anxiety on such occasions, but there are others who NEED these games, need an edge, to reach their peak.  If we have a team full of the latter, Legia are in for a torrid night.

I’m doing my best to ignore the naked opportunism in our media this week.  There is no point complaining about it, lose heavily and you become vulnerable to those who live to revel in a Celtic defeat.  Don’t lose and you don’t give them (friends and foes alike) a chance.

We’ve been here before.  Artmedia, Braga, Utrecht, Sion (despite the reprieve) and Karagandy all exposed an aching heart.  European football is unforgiving, try to transition and you’ll find someone ready to exploit, but that doesn’t mean you are wrong to transition.

We might talk about this transition more later in the month but we have a game to win first.  Can’t wait.

Check out the fantastic work by the cyclists who are taking part in the Paradise to Cardenden Cycle 2014 on 6 September. You can join them – all you need is a bike. Get involved, you’ll be delighted you did, I promise. Read about it here.

  2. Re. the game tomorrow, my wife has just informed me, that the game will be shown in the Glencairn club, Rutherglen.

It has been posted on Facebook.

    Apparently!

Fancy yourself as the next Ronny Deila? Think your better than Stein? then here is the invite code to the CQN Championship Fantasy Football League, we are now approaching 70 teams entered.

You have 11 days left to register your team & join the league.

As an added incentive I’ve decided to offer some prizes for the top 3 come the end of the season. The winners will each receive items of their choosing from the Official Celtic Webstore to the tune of

    1st £100

    2nd £75

    3rd £50

Or alternatively, winners can choose to donate any winnings to a Celtic charity of their choice.

Also if by some miracle I end up in the top 3, the winnings will be passed onto the next placed team.

Sell all of their best attacking players and replace them with Sammi.

I take it the directors have placed several million pounds in some obscure bookies at the best odds they could get,… that they would be in Division Two in three seasons time.

Turkeybhoy, there,s nothing secret about the Clair Ridge development, people in my office have been workng on it for years. I’ve seen loads about it on tv and its been all over the O&G industry journals for years.

The game on Wednesday night IS NOT ON UK TELEVISION.

See Jonny the tim’s post of 18:18 Tues 6/8 for details of an alleged showing in Rutherglen

It’s not on cooncil telly, nor any of the Sky Sports channels, BT channels, Premier Sports, the Pub Channel, Dave, Challenge or even Comedy Central.

As a matter of interest, are people aware that if you have Sky or Virgin there is a button on your handset which ACTUALLY LETS YOU CHECK ALL THIS YOURSELF…….

I’m astonished that the telecast of Wednesday night’s game to Poland has been blocked by Celtic TV. and it looks like the game will not be seen on TV in Ireland either which is very disappointing and to my knowledge this is unprecedented. Setanta and TV3 have always shown these Champs Lge qualifiers.

I already pay Sky and BT to watch sport, not so much the EPL but I like golf, rugby and Spanish football and Celtic games of course. I would gladly subscribe to Celtic TV if and when I can get a season ticket to watch all fixtures live and not delayed to midnight broadcasts on Sat nights. This strikes me as been meanspirited particularly when we hear so much about the club’s desire to spread it’s fanbase.

Classic good cop / bad cop.

Use first ID to post a neutral question / then the second to deliver a stinging un-Celtic like response / then back with a neutral response to somehow legitimise the un-Celtic like comment.

I did add the proviso, “my wife has just informed me”, to keep myself right.

You did say the game was not available anywhere on “UK” TV, so it’s possible they’re using a foreign feed/satellite channel.

I’ll pop in tomorrow to confirm YES or no! (more subliminal suggestions!)

Problem with KC is that his fitness + stamina means he can only contribute for 60mins (tendency decreasing over the next couplke of years I imagine).

PL will see this as a golden opportunity to offer him 50-66% of his current contract, so fully expect to see him leave.

New manager just having brought in his first (loan) signing in his first ‘big’ European tie, I’m inclined to think Ronny would have been given free reign to pick his own team playing his tactics last week. Since then I’m hoping that people have told him, for this game anyway, to go with what’s worked previously.
