I’ve been going to the football long enough to remember black players being booed whenever they touched the ball. The phenomenon seemed to arrive here in the late 70s and faded around a decade later, although such is human nature I don’t think complacency is appropriate. Homophobia is a different matter.
‘Out’ gay footballers are so rare I don’t know what the reaction would be at a match but the crowd-bullying phenomenon which can exist in the game makes any minority vulnerable. The first step is to explain to the hard-of-thinking what they are doing, and the error of their ways.

For me it’s ‘never’ been the same club since the Kelly’s & White’s put seats in the Jungle instead of putting seats in the Cellic-end and bringing it forward to the pitch. From that time of, the initial chants of ‘sack the bored’ from the Jungle, imo, the Cellic support has lost it’s ‘base’ – all the way through until the arrival of the magnificent Green Brigade – with the interludes of the Wim season and the MO’N years and Neil’s 1st season that’s a period of 22 years that I’ve been hoping for Cellic to come back but – as you say – “…they are no longer the same club.”
And, sadly…they never will be so long as the present day Cellic fans keep behaving like – sheep / cash-cows – who are obsessed with all the duplicity over at the orcdome, whilst ignoring the duplicity engaged in by their own ‘bored’.

Disappointed that our Dutchman Derk did not get more gametime on Wednesday night i just have the feeling he could’ve taken that Milan defence apart. He’s probably the only forward we have at present with real explosive pace and is a good crosser pf the ball from what I’ve seen of him to date. We hear Pukki is a pacy forward but nobody has seen him play. get him into the team Neil and let’s see what he can offer.
