Priceless Maeda

195

I had a conversation a week ago along the lines of, “Daizen gives us lots of running, but not much else.” A player with speed as his most potent weapon is stifled against Scottish opposition.

Putting the ball in the net is the best counter to that concern. A player who produces a hat trick when his team mates most need him is priceless.

More of the same, Daizen.

  1. Just tuned in to the game at Greenock . The 2024 word of the year so far is shankland , god the beeb love him . He must be going to thems

  2. lets all do the huddle on

we should have all had military service

    —-

why should any of us be forced into military service?

why should any of us be forced to go to a ‘front line’ to get our heads blown off?

forced by warmongerers and politicians who will make sure they and their families are nowhere near that front line.

people in all countries were born in those countries through no choice of their own (obviously).

they should never be forced to go and get killed by some arsehole politicians who wont do the same

  3. lets all do the huddle on

Or even buggery (I know you were thinking about it?)

i might allow myself a chuckle at that!

  6. What I meant was

As a child of the 70’s if you stepped out of line you got the belt at school

As you got older, if you stepped out of line the local copper would give you a slap and take you home

Where, chances were you got another slap (if it was merited)

As we got older and went to the pub….

If we stepped out of line the bouncer gave us a slap

    And we learned

    From every step we misplaced

    Their was casue and effect

    Disciplin and rules

    Nowadays

Teacher gets the wrong pro noun??

Never mind brendan and a good girl

    Society is upside down

  7. Celtic have been a tad unlucky since the beginning of 2024 in that three of arguably their best players have been injured. It’s not just their absence but it’s also their influence on their team mates’ performance. Scales puts in a far more assured performance when CCV partners him. And the Celtic midfield and forward line are entirely different

propositions with Callum and Hatate pulling the strings

  8. Callum, ccv and hatate,

    abada, jota and Starlord

    The team has been gutted

not by thefirst 3 by bad circumstances

(Callum, ccv and hatate, Injuries happan and cant be planned for)

    Last 3, poor planning

Although the last 3 we pulled in £40 million

(25 for for Jota, 10 for abada and 5 for starlord)

The first 3 are bad luck

The 40 million of poor planning

    Is what gutted our team

  9. Majestic Hartson on

    Davie Provan –

He was my favourite player growing up and I used to pretend I was him as I tore up the wing (honest).

I had badgered my dad non stop about getting tickets for the 85 final, I’m sure we went to the semi, but he kept telling me we couldn’t go.

Then a day or 2 before the game he told me he got a couple from the cleaner in his work – Motherwell civic – and that I was going – I’m not sure why my older brother wasn’t taking it. He seemed to think that her son has some interesting links and they possibly could be dodgy/fakes but we didn’t care, we were going.

    I was absolutely buzzing.

At the game in the terrace across from the main stand, near the halfway line we stood but being 9 years old i wanted to get closer to the action and stood at the front, my dad stood close to the stairway so i could find him

Down 1-0 and getting that free kick I knew my favourite player was going to take it, the nervousness and excitement when he was about to take it and then the feeling when he equalised….

I ran up to meet my dad and celebrate with him before going back to my ringside spot to watch the rest of the game.

Now I know Frank McGarvey scored the clincher but to me that cup final was all about Davie Provan’s free kick.

I was recently thinking about a letter I wrote to my dad one night as he was on his deathbed and I woke during the night and couldn’t sleep (which is unlike me). In it I wrote some memories I had of him, little things that he probably didn’t remember but I did – a race from the car to the chapel, a day at the swimming etc. I just wanted him to know how much he meant to me and ultimately show him how much I loved him.

We had many an amazing day watching Celtic especially as me and brother grew up and were able to join him for a drink before and after the game, surrounded by family and friends, but this is a memory I’d have loved to have reminded him of.

Oh well, another line beat. I picked the wrong day to give up constellation gazing.

  11. Majestic Hartson on

    Fritzsong,

One thing I’d say about Hatate is that most games he played this season he was a poor imitation of the Hatate under Ange.

Whether BR would be able to get the best out of him or whether he’d be like Kyogo, who knows?

So the Drummer is off to the US? Does he take the Ludwig kit with him? 🤔🤣

  13. 🏆 Scottish Gas Scottish Cup semi-final draw:

  14. Whatever happened to Mark Reid .

He came into the team as a youngster .

    Quiet unassuming.

He was terrific for 2 or 3 seasons .

In an era where the club produced very good first team players from our youth squads.

  20. No fix this time – easiest draw.

Never has been a fix…..a (convenient) green urban myth.

Will be a double, or, treble stopping final
