Rallying call to supporters from the manager

1060

Neil Lennon’s interview with the official site was the second resounding State of the Club address from Celtic within a week.  The manager said:

”Clearly, in terms of where Rangers do play, that is now a matter for others to decide upon, it is something we have no control or influence over.

“We must now move on, and move on with a collective unity between the supporters and the club and the team.

“We need to stand strong, shoulder to shoulder and all work together to continue to move the club in the right direction.

“We want as many fans as possible to come back to the club and take their seat at Celtic Park and invest in the club as much as possible.

“We are now looking forward and not back, we have a vibrant young team, I want to progress this team as far as I can but we cannot do this without the fans’ support.

“There will be no slacking off or complacency, we have a lot to look forward to and that´s what we are preparing for, but I need to be very clear, we need our fans with us every step of the way.

“We cannot let outside negative influences dictate the mood at Celtic, we are very optimistic and we are very much looking forward to the season but we need our fans right with us”.

“It´s imperative we make inroads in Europe again this year and it would be nice to get through the qualifiers and into the Champions League group stages, but I´m under no illusion how difficult that´s going to be

“Everyone wants to play at the big table and that´s our whole focus. We go into this as champions and that is a fantastic feeling, so hopefully that will give the players an extra spring in their step.

“If we qualify then you never know where it will take us.”

I hear season ticket sales are up on the corresponding period last season but the message from Neil is clear, with the driver for high-value corporate ticket sales missing, Celtic are more dependent on ordinary supporters buying tickets than ever before.

This is your tax-and-supplier-paying-champions-today-and-next-season-Celtic.  You wouldn’t rather it any other way so get along and enjoy it.

That was a stint of quality stuff ghuys

    couple of questions

to the ‘we need to stay quiet’, norman bates team,

if the manager is only representing the team why were the hundead mentioned

why does everyboby call me beau :oD))

  3. Aye, was hoping for £8-10M for Ki.

But lack of gameplay, and the further devaluing of the SPL player market by hunnery means £7M will probably be as much as we can get, only to watch his price double within 2 years.

Thankfully, we still have Sammy though, who can and will play wherever he’s asked. John Lennon wrote a song, ney, 2 songs for him :)

  4. Beau,

You made me laugh at the Norman Bates reference :)

No matter any of our thoughts on this, to prosper, we need as much ST money asap.

My argument being, any concerns can be raised next season and if it means withdrawal of financial support, then so be it.

We have to be aware that the hun forces want to see us weakened as much as possible for the foreseeable.

  5. Celtic want our money.

Nothing new in that. Just a new and unknown set of circumstances.

Trouble is the people who are making the pleas are insulated from the economic shocks affecting the rest of us.

Re John Terry. If calling somebody a black, orange or whatever cnt or bstrd deserves a jail sentence then we’re all due a stretch. So watch your language in the pub next season. The precedent has been set.

Ki is very skillful, and rarely gives the ball away.

But I don’t think he is very effective.

A skinny Commons has a much more creative brain, and will have many more shots on goal in a game.

I call this Pat McGinley value.

Maxing out a football brain (like Peter Grant and Henke, but at different levels).

  7. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

    FFM,

aye, drowning panic and all that stuff.

    issue for me, governance.

I can see all the macavennie stuff about political intrigue, innatknow.

but, blind conformity got them where they are now, innitgeez

  8. Rascar,

Paddy McGinlay?? ouch ! An ugly Roy Keane??…:)

    Canamalar,

Tis a fair point. Still think we need to ensure the Lenny Lions have uninterrupted investment to build on progress. Not a panic, but progress in Europe this year alone will keep us continually strengthened.

As devil’s advocate, for any of us that are suspicious about how this is playing out, it suits them all, but doesn’t mean they are all guilty.

Eyes wide open – that Kubrick fella had a fair few subtle things to say :)

  9. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

do you know what I think would improve the atmosphere at Celtic Park, if there were no corporate seats, I mean, family club and all that innatknow

  10. Is the “Lenny Lions” epithet an attempt to conflate this side with the Lisbon Lions?

2012 League Cup Final? 2012 Scottish Cup semi-final? 1967? Geeza break.

Neil canamalar you seem more interested in filling the stadium than you are with revenue. Get with the program.

  11. Beau,

    Aye ! :))

I was being humorous in my indignation. All sorted. Mags makes me laugh – I enjoy a bit of cheek.

Re corporate money. Aye, would be good to see that totally minimised, but we can’t do that til we’re in a league that is well-governed and fan-prosperous.

I absolutely get your ideals, and share them, but we can’t progress without involving the whole of the relevant community.

Mibbes that’s what the Celtic Board are all about???? As devil’s advocate, what if deliasmith aka bontyboy is actually a board plant to make us warm to the idea of progressing the national game back to a decent standard here, albeit using a halfwit personality to introduce the idea??

  12. Rascar Capac on

    Fortunes

Pat McGinley was everything Ki isn’t.

    And that’s my point.

In a poor team he was top scorer from the right of midfield.

Not because he was skillful, or athletic, or had spent 10,000 hours in Kirkintiloch.

He was instinctively clever, like Henrik, and Tom Boyd, and Ally McCoist.

    At football, that is.

  13. Rascar

Never rated Pat that highly – but am aware my football insight can sometimes be a big fail.

One of the problems with it is he played in a team made up of quality players devoted to Celtic, of mixed ability, and others bought and paid for on the cheap, again, of mixed quality.

Also said team was at a time of progression, that, sorry to say it, was interfered with by hunnery again.

They have so much to answer for that can never be quantified.

Could Wullie Falconer have progressed his playing career in a quality Celtic side. Aye, as could any single player.

  14. Rascar Capac on

    Fortunes

From my dodgy memory, we sold Pat to Hibs for half a million, in order to fund three new signings.

Not much fun at Celtic Park in those dark days, but we still turned up.

  15. what if deliasmith aka bontyboy is actually a board plant

Do you lie in all the areas of your life, or is it some compulsion that you can manage by lying only online? I ask because you are a manifest, repeat, apparently compulsive and unimaginative liar, and I wonder that someone who has as much practice in lying as you do cannot develop a more effective lying strategy. Just wondering, you know, never having had the chancepreviously to enquire about these things from a liar like yourself.

  16. Rascar,

Very true :) They weren’t that dark though, was still the Celtic playing against the odds as usual :))

Didn’t enjoy the grubby hamden days so much mind, although the 3-1 game against that extinct crowd was a pleasant relief end of season.

Doh, delia’s just appeared under the delia name. Here we go….#rollseyes

  17. I’m re-posting this because it’s true and we shouldn’t let the orange order ratbags have us argue amongst ourselves because NL doesn’t want to say anything that would have bombs & bullets coming his way.

    KTF!

[It has become apparent that this whole fiasco is a transparent masonic stitch-up. It’s not often that the shady lot show their hand so openly, but when it comes to keeping Shame F.C. alive and kicking and the corrupt beanfeast and the trough overflowing, then it’s everybody’s greasy palms priming the pump.

Nothing else can explain the staggering duplicity and open flouting of laws and rules.

[It seems that no matter what anyone says,or how much proof is there for all to see,the only thing that matters in Scotland right now is that the most corrupt f.c. in footballing history be kept ticking over.

Everything that should be applied to them has, magically, become redundant and/or immaterial.

    Amazing? Or predictable.]

  18. Delia,

Or mibbes you’d prefer that I indulged in your own kind of spin and lies, by making a long-winded insidious post with a reference to being religiously discriminated against, and then qualifying it by referring to a post one year previously where somone said they’d “pray for you”.

You failed to answer another poster’s question as to why that would be offensive?

I also don’t understand how you could have felt that way when no one asked or knew your religion??

    Very odd, don’t you agree?

Will you answer these simple questions? No, I think not.

    FFS.

Always cries at responses and ignores responding answers and questions. With all responses having a hint of portraying the victimised muppet, while loading such responses with implications of bigotry and bullying, and offering nothing to justify such feelings.

Do you think what I think?

    A very recognisable mentality.

So are Celtic about to reveal hints to their overall vision for the first time since

January 2009 when they bought Willo Flood? Or worse? I have a bad bad OLD FIRMY feeling about NL’s Rallying call. I always feel that way when the language assumes I am a retarded child but a faithful retarded child.

FFM apologies via canalamar last week. I’m still confused. No offence meant. Is it possible I was responding to someone else?
