Rallying call to supporters from the manager

1060

Neil Lennon’s interview with the official site was the second resounding State of the Club address from Celtic within a week.  The manager said:

”Clearly, in terms of where Rangers do play, that is now a matter for others to decide upon, it is something we have no control or influence over.

“We must now move on, and move on with a collective unity between the supporters and the club and the team.

“We need to stand strong, shoulder to shoulder and all work together to continue to move the club in the right direction.

“We want as many fans as possible to come back to the club and take their seat at Celtic Park and invest in the club as much as possible.

“We are now looking forward and not back, we have a vibrant young team, I want to progress this team as far as I can but we cannot do this without the fans’ support.

“There will be no slacking off or complacency, we have a lot to look forward to and that´s what we are preparing for, but I need to be very clear, we need our fans with us every step of the way.

“We cannot let outside negative influences dictate the mood at Celtic, we are very optimistic and we are very much looking forward to the season but we need our fans right with us”.

“It´s imperative we make inroads in Europe again this year and it would be nice to get through the qualifiers and into the Champions League group stages, but I´m under no illusion how difficult that´s going to be

“Everyone wants to play at the big table and that´s our whole focus. We go into this as champions and that is a fantastic feeling, so hopefully that will give the players an extra spring in their step.

“If we qualify then you never know where it will take us.”

I hear season ticket sales are up on the corresponding period last season but the message from Neil is clear, with the driver for high-value corporate ticket sales missing, Celtic are more dependent on ordinary supporters buying tickets than ever before.

This is your tax-and-supplier-paying-champions-today-and-next-season-Celtic.  You wouldn’t rather it any other way so get along and enjoy it.

Would not like Deberecen, Molde (managed by Ole Gunner Solskjaer), Helsenki, Shamrock Rovers and especially not Polish champions Slask Wracow. All the teams are champions of their leagues so we’ll have to be at our best to go through, although for the play offs there is still the same list of teams we could face, just halved! So we really are a better team than all there but there are some tricky, tricky games

Totally agree ‘ what’s not to like?’

If Ki goes – happy days for me. Don’t rate him in the SPL..

Wish him the very best in the EPL or whenever he ends up – I’m sure he’ll do well…. But he’s not for SPL IMO.

at this minute we have not sold Ki for any amount of money,

    I posted earlier…

I don’t care where Newco end up. The damage and SHAME is indelibly marked upon any team

Hun that materialises. They are Scotland’s SHAME forever.

I will never again worry about any encounters we might have with them. I used to desperately want to beat them , to be better than them. No more – we are now indesputeably BETTER. They may at some point gain a win over us but they know we are better, more honest and superior. They know it you know it… nobody disputes it.

As a seeded team we would be away first.

But, rearrangement could still be on the cards:-)

It could also be covered by SKY either:

Sky Sports or Extreme Makeover Away Addition:-)

IMHO it was always the case that we would need to sell before we could seriously invest in some experienced players, Rankers in SPL or not. If Ki goes for £7M, then I would hope to see at least £5M being made available to the manager for a CB and a big CF.

CL experienced players are required to progress this young squad, if we are serious about qualifying for the CL group stages.

oglach – after Neil’s recent statement on the club website, are you questioning his integrity?

For me the prize is now the dismantling of the SFA and installing an accounatble organisation in its place.

The season after next if a weakened Rangersaswas make it back to the SPL I would enjoy beating them regularly on a level playing field.

To get that and reassure the likes of Falkirk that they have a chance of being promoted before Sevco next season, if I were them I would want the SFA dismantled during the season with special watch on the refereeing service.

What has become abundantly clear is that whatever happens to Sevco the SFA must go not just the tainted personnel but the organisation itself.

  16. The club IMO, knew that the huns had to win the league the past few seasons to get the CL money, the sfa did what they had to do, they crapped on us when required, they were easy on the huns when required, they also supplied the people who really mattered, the referees.

What I don’t get is we are apparantly still allowing the sfa to crap on us, masachistic tendacies are not what I would imagine a football club is all about, but, I live and learn.

A very good & appropriate post.

I share the concerns of many posters on here while hoping my faith in the actions

of the board reflect that we are a football club first and a PLC second.

Time will tell and a balancing act of financial reality/ Celtics ambitions and due

punishment to the huns are all at stake.

Personally, only when their tainted titles are stripped will I feel justice has been done.

  18. Just humour me, I know there is more chance Canamalar buying a season ticket than this happening ;-)

Assuming the huns are voted into SFL, starting in the 3rd division, wouldn’t it just be fantastic if Celtic loaned a number of fringe players (Murphy, Paddy, etc) to Clyde and made sure they kept the Huns down there, now that would be funny!!! ;-))

I was talking to one of our friends recently and we were contemplating the prospect of the huns results next year, we could be playing barca in the CL while the Huns could be playing at home against the only team in SFL3 called Rangers…… Berwick.

There will be much fun the next few years.

Let’s hope Celtic and the rest of Scottish football prosper, get to a few games and support the clubs who are going out on a limb to ensure we retain a semblance of sporting integrity.

I know what we and other teams are. I know what Huns are. It’s out for all to see.

Funny to see if in the course of the next few seasons we become associated with all other teams finally disassociated from the ‘OF’ tag.

That is much more important than whether or not Huns emerge in SPL in the future.

For somebody who has spent so much time with their fans in Ranger’s hospitality you do not seem to understand them at all.

Go onto their websites and search in vain for any admission that they KNOW themselves to be inferior or even to have been at fault.

TET – ha! It will take us many years to produce enough technically gifted players to even contemplate playing the Barca/Spain model, so a big feck-off striker will do for me!

In truth, we have to plan ahead for what will follow the Iberian model.

As I do not know the man personally i cannot comment on his integrity and i would guess that you do not know him well enough personally to validate his integrity. The public personas of people in the media glare are sometimes misleading – again not meant as an indictment of NL merely a statement of fact. Posing a question or proffering an opinion on a statement made by NL does not, in my opinion, question Neil Lennon’s integrity to any degree. Having said that I do not believe that i have questioned Neil Lennons honesty at any juncture
