This opinion may be hard to justify but I’ll try. We were quite good today. Players absolutely tried but we lost out due to having only 10 men for so long, poor finishing and poor defending.

Ok. It’s easy to say poor defending and poor finishing must mean we didn’t play well.

Defending. Ajer was absolutely immense in that game. Except for a couple of times that resulted in goals. Should have scored after a tremendous dribble into their box. Welsh. Really good game but got done by Defoe in the dying embers of the game. I thought he done everything right, stayed on his feet until perhaps tiredness caused him to lose his balance.

Attacking. Turnbull x 2, Forrest, Elyonoussi, Eddie and aforementioned Ajer. Really good chances. And the save from Ely’s long distance shot.

Sure we conceded chances other than the goals we lost, that will happen when you’ve ten men AND you are trying to go forward to win the game.

Unfortunately the biggest mistake was playing Brown. Soro looked so much better. (Glossing over the pass that led to the final goal).

Why are our players not as physically fit as theirs, to include their 39 year old?

Interesting question that needs to be answered and addressed.

    —————-,

    10 men for 60 minutes ?

39 year old on for the last 5 of them?

    How about young Davis?

  3. Our biggest problem is that those in charge / hands on the levers of power thought they were doing the right thing — this is their level.

They work transfers to their own advantage.

They appoint people who are demonstrably not up to the job.

They put their own egos before the best interests of the club.

They dream not of cups and football success but personal enrichment and EPL windfalls.

They have no understanding of growth or team development — just golf until their punt comes in.

They spend time not on solutions but excuses and get people to echo their own opinions.

Our performance this season took a lot of effort.

This level of failure does not come naturally.

We were a season long stag do for all the loan players.

We were a season long piss take for all the NT wannabees.

We were a season long reality check for all the coaching staff.

We were a season long disgrace for all the execs involved.

We were a season long embarrassment for our titular captain.

    Not sure what comes next.

Plenty of easy wins — we cannot be this bad again.

    Surely not.

Millions paid out in wages and bonuses for a pathetic season.

At some point someone is going to say no more.

Everything needs to change at CP — top to bottom.

Too many fans just happy to have the badge.

Professionalism is nowhere to be seen.

    Starting with PL and DD.

    Playing games.

    .

  4. No doubt we will get old glasow and celtic pics from twitter.who the fuk wants to see that pish.our clubui s in meltdown.and on here it’s full of nicey nicey pish open yer fucking eyes

  5. would suggest that broonie packs his boots into his Aberdeen kit bag and heads north later today.

  6. fieldofdrams on

Agree that we were better with Soro. Begs the question what does he have to do to get a start and a run in the team. Seems like the fortunes of the team were subordinated to an extended last hurrah for Broony.

  7. If Eddie Howe is paraded next week I’ll look forward to romping the league on sheer tactics alone. Throw in half a dozen medium to decent players and we’ll do well in Europe as well. Roll on the coming weeks

  8. SuperSutton on

Last comment was getting too big and if you are like me, you lose interest after a couple of sentences.

This point merited it’s on point.

And so. Calmac. We know he has been guilty of poor challenges this season. And they have cost us. HOWEVER. The laws of football changed for season 20/21

If the referee plays ADVANTAGE for an offence which ‘ interfered with or stopped a promising attack’ the yellow card is NOT issued.

(Need to find a proper source for that just to be sure)

  9. ayer was defensively shocking today and as for his finishing when he went for a gallop up the park , enough said.

  10. fieldofdrams

I think you have really hit the nail on the head

regarding this season. Some players were allowed to

play no matter how bad they were playing.

If you don’t fear being dropped you won’t try hard

    It’s simple human nature

  11. excathedra44 on

I think I have had it with JK.

Changes defied logic,Johnstone instead of Griff made no sense.Kenny at RB made no sense,I would have used JF as a sub rather than a start,Edoard playing expecting a change in previous trend, made no sense,he actually missed the header, appeared to strike shoulder.

Of course they got their very soft red card, crossed my mind was McGreger doing a Chris Sutton when he threw in the towel,so venue??.

Although opinions vary,I would pull.out the stops for Ajer, make him Captain, only guy who looked interested.

    What a mess.

  12. RC

Yep, I just don’t see it.

He only made 2 mistakes that cost 2 goals – ouch

  13. Soro is a player, but in his first stint he has the weakness in his game of slackness and poor distribution. I understand thats why is not a first start .

Today in his cameo it cost us a goall, It doesnt matter a hill of beans, but i would rather be siting here beaten 3-1 than 4-1

although any defender worth their salt would have done something about it.

Current Celtic board cannot be trusted to take club forward given their almost criminal decision to destroy our own football department to match fix the SPL to keep Sevco afloat.

    ———

They’ve been at it since 2011 and only now are the Huns competent enough to take advantage.

Operation Short Head blows up in their faces.

  15. excathedra44

I’m not totally dissing Ajer but I would play him in midfield

He is not a high quality CB

Your analysis is part of the problem.

Sifting through the wreckage to convince yourself and the audience that we are not as bad as the score would suggest — a bit of fortune and all would be well.

    We did not turn up.

We did not turn up to win.

We did not turn up to win but just went through the motions.

It was not a real game for us — it was a nothing game for a nothing squad.

We just huffed and puffed and the result was not important.

It was not important to the squad because the season was not important to the club.

It was not important to the club because the exec level had collapsed.

Totally out of their depth / their comfort zone / their ability level.

All the cheap decisions they made over 3 years came back to haunt them and they had nothing left.

yet still PL has his backers on here.

Eddie Howe to be announced on Tuesday, he’s been to Lennoxtown and has told the ground staff he wants the training ground moved around to suit his needs, all from a good source

  22. Glad we all missed this invisible Celtic side who stayed firmly BCD, a truly remarkable bunch, what a task, to rebuild the sieve , quite a few score line tipsters saw this one written on the wall. John Kennedy silly bhoy was thrown under the bus by the same players that helped Neil Lennon before him onto the managerial scrapheap.

A typically uninspiring team selection and performance that’s punctuated our season, Kennedy went for seniority and the players repaid him in spades, none of them in a good way. Sevco scored almost at will, and the killer from a MOI shot that hit their own bar. MacGregor on a yellow foolishly allowed debutant Walsh to read the script, going to ground already on a yellow, is pure manna for the Kings Park cabal, it was game over.

With hapless Johnjoe Kenny at least 200 miles safely away from CP next season the locus swings to the other full back who’ll unfortunately still be there, despite his limitations. Stephen Welsh played the 90 minutes, but not quite sure where, Kris Ajer was outstanding and duff in equal measures. Odsonne Edouard just isn’t as good as he thought he was, and he’ll head a posse from Paradise, the sooner the better say some. Scott Brown was again outplayed and shouldn’t have been near the side, that couldn’t even play properly for Celtic pride.

The trio of Gavin Strachan, Stephen McManus and John Kennedy together at Celtic is surely for taking to the memory bank, and there can only be goodly news as Celtic begin a new era that can’t come quickly enough. One captain, two full backs, two centres backs, two midfielders, two wingers, and two strikers, should kick start a MON or Jansen like campaign.

    M.O.M Kris Ajer

  23. We are where we are because CMcG is seen as being a starter playing a role that is not his best.

Plus he is CP Hide and Seek champion 5 seasons on the trot.

CMcG @ attacking MF = squad player for the team I want us to be.

CMcG @ holding MF = piss take / accident waiting to happen.

    As it often does.

  24. RC @ 2.30

He needs to get back to Barrowfield.

The housing punt that is the L/town training complex has not been a success.

  25. When CMG gets anywhere near our goal

he makes Olivier Tebily look like Franco Baresi.

CMG is an attacking mid played out of position

    like so many others.

  26. CMcG starting — AM who gets one goal in 4.

Some of those goals are good / big game finishes.

However he needs two grafters behind him to make up for his lack of football effort / ballast.

SP = CMcG’s goal threat plus he offers you his missing work ethic.

That is why SP was a starter and CMcG should not.

  27. The coaching aspect is a valid point. In the summer, David Moyes wanted Shane Duffy who came to us instead of West Ham. Moyes moved down his list to get Craig Dawson from Watford.

Duffy has been a disaster and Dawson has been one of the best centre-backs in the EPL this season.

Was Moyes’ judgement poor and he dodged a bullet or would he have got similar performances from Duffy?

I think it’s fair to say that most of our players have dipped around 25% at least – including new arrivals, Barkas, Laxalt etc

So , a referee making such a huge , gamechanging error will surely be demoted…………..?

    D’ye think…………..?

  29. GB @ 2.38

That is the difference between a coach with ability and a coach without.

12 months ago DM was not considered by many as not being good enough to be our coach.

That is the issue we have.

Too many have / had a sense of entitlement that we would win no matter what.

This season shows in spades that if you don’t do the basics right / if you don’t put in the effort then you will get nothing back — we as a club have not put in the effort and our failure should be no surprise.

  30. Just repeatin myself here.

    Bain – not good enough

Barkas – ??? Cannot be good enough ?? Cut our losses

Kenny – (loan) not good enough

Duffy – (loan) not good enough

Laxalt – (loan) not good enough

    Taylor – not good enough

Elyanousi – (loan) turns up 1 in 5 games

Griffiths – ??? Now 3 managers not playing him consistently over past 4 seasons – cut our losses

Ajeti – ??? Cannot be trying – cut our losses

Forrest – 1 decent game in 5 ? If that

McGregor – very poor season, played in wrong position

Soro – been here 16 months and not yet in team regularly, so cannot be showing as good enough in training ????

Brown – already confirmed as going

Christie – allegedly wants to go – goodbye

Edouard – wants to go – goodbye

Rogic – wanted to go last summer – goodbye

We can then add, Ntcham, Hendry, Bayo, Schved to the list

Great team management within our football dept

  31. Is anyone really surprised with todays result.

This doing has been coming and could have been even more embarrassing.

John Kennedy should be chased tomorrow and let McManus or O’dea take the last 2 games
