It was a very sluggish start. The atmosphere and the sense of occasion intimidated some and the attacking and harrying hun tactics served them well. We were rattled for a while. We settled and class showed.

Or maybe it was all tactical genius? After all, which brings greater disappointment: getting pumped from start to finish by a clearly better team or having your hopes raised early on against them and subsequently getting pumped?

There is a real desire to hammer them, something we have only really done once in recent times (the 5-1 this season).

I agree this was a bad defensive performance from us – we looked surprised at their physical approach which was straight from the Walter playbook – hump the ball long and appeal for cheap free kicks. Because of this the game was always in the balance.

But we were genuinely unlucky not to score at least one more. Next time, at Celtic Park, with a fully fir squad and the league won, I think we will really give them a doing.

novosleftboot on sevco minded has it all sussed..

Three areas we have to improve on-defence,midfield and attack..

Superb timpostery or an utterly deluded Hun balloon?

  4. Also worth mentioning: thought the linesman kept them in it in the first half with 2 absolutely shocking calls on our attacks.

  5. Stewart Armstrong ,has come on a ton ,and had another great game today . But he should have had a hatrick . Had we taken our chances , another 5 .1 could have and should have been on the cards . But great result and puts them back in their box for a while .

  6. One of the funny moments today was watching as Moussa’s shot hit the bar, Stuart Armstrong was running in from the penalty spot but, instead of heading for goal to knock in the re-bound, he continued running straight for Moussa to celebrate. Obviously it looked like a goal from where Stuart was :-)

When was the last time a Celtic player entered the field of play at Mordor by blessing himself? Was there any reaction? I couldn’t make any out.

  8. According to BBC it was 50 50 possession.

I thought it was more like 60-40 especially 2nd half.

    23 shots to their 10

  9. CultsBhoy - Believes in Brendan on

Foderingham. Mackay and Miller.. All kept the scoreline reasonable. Barry Mackay is a good player.. He deserves a better club.

A half baked performance from the boys in the first half.. But then regained composure in 2nd..id have had Griffiths on at end..

  10. Thoroughly enjoyed that. No doubt many of them will be deluded enough to think that the gap has closed but the league table doesn’t lie. That was like a cup final for them, the boy McKay the only one worthy of a mention but doubt if he would’ve much time in that Celtic team. Enjoy your night where ever you are and savour this special time.

Sky were showing stats massively in our favour 60 plus percentage

  12. Best laid plans of mice………

Shaky start for Celtic but storm trooper Sevco in the end couldn’t hide their lack of quality, from the moment they took an unlikely lead.

Erik and Izzy came on to games and there was only ever one side, against B division players scraped from any galactico with the only EBT star in the studio.

Key moments like the mystery offsides only delayed the Celtic goals but even McLean couldn’t get into the game, that was dominated by our superior level of player.

    M.O.M Stuart Armstrong

  13. Just checked my Facebook and saw some footage that contained many Celtic fans in Cheers Bar, Sydney singing a song that is, frankly, very derogatory about the team Celtic played this afternoon. I would like to think that no CQNers were involved in this kind of childish mockery of the inferior. Mind you as it was one of our number – the one who does not like Peter Lawwell- who posted the footage I fear we have been let down.

Happy New Year to the Bhoys and Ghirls Down Under

I thought we were very lucky to get the win today. If it wasn’t for the 2 goals, hitting the bar twice, several one on ones with the keeper, controlling the game in the second half, not playing well but being even on the scoreline, having sheer quality on the bench, making an effective substitution, a good goalie, a midfielder who can turn up in the opposition box and clear the ball in our own box, ability to get our heads together, a plan B, biton, multiple goal threats, young fit men, competition at every position, a 95 minute footballing brain in every player, br, ability to keep going despite honest mistakes, md being made of titanium we’d have been absolutely goosed !

I realise Brendan is the boss and I am so glad he is, I want the Griff in our starting 11 but am delighted Moussa is as good as he is, Broony 2nd half magic, apologies to Scott Sinclair as I jinxed you betting you for a hattrick, I watched the game with generations of Celtic fans, relations, friends, their families from all ages……..after we won the game I saw the Griff celebrating like the people I watched the game with, we have some manager that is able to keep our players happy

Enjoy the good tImes fellow Celtic fans, we are living in them

  16. So happy, what a buzz that was at times today. That ninetoes finder dance is like an out of body experience.

I thought we started quite poorly and allowed them a foothold in the game. From 30th minute onwards I thought we totally outclassed them. Armstrong and Sinclair were unbelievable and only surpassed by Moussa whom I cannot find any words to describe his efforts today.

19 wins and a draw from 20 matches is quite phenomenal.

    Happy New Year!

  17. patmcgrathtakesapenalty on

Griff must be disappointed but showed class in the way he joined in mobbing SS after his goal and in the celebrations at the end of the game.

Thought SA did a lot to get us out of that opening lethargy.

  18. patmcgrathtakesapenalty on

I think with that opening 30 minutes we’ve left them with a modicum of belief in themselves. Is this a good thing?

  19. Thought Waggy gave an outstanding hun performance.

Never created anything had a few dirty tackles and berated the ref at every opportunity.

They are poor defensively and their goalie saved them from a thrashing.

McKay was good but Lustig kept lunging in allowing him to push the ball past and run.

One concern was the chance they created due to a breakaway from our corner.

This happens to often and the coaches need to address this

.Dembele is a star and ran the line beautifully.

    Armstrong was class.

GG- excuse my ignorance but what does ‘road team’ mean

    ——-

Think it means the away team, in the US away teams are usually on the road

  21. FAIRHILL BHOY

we’re too good. Lots of pace and ability against a poor back line and the ref can only do so much.

19 clear and a big break.

    Enjoy your nights Bhoys.

Another piece of comedy gold from the dark side

“Hard to take but being realistic. We are only a player or two short from beating them “

  23. Most Sevvies seem to be accepting the reality that their team was and is poor. They have a manager who can set out a game plan but can’t change it in play.

That’s what I can make out in between the personal attacks on each other and the swearie words.

    Funny as

  24. ItaliaBhoy – “Also worth mentioning: thought the linesman kept them in it in the first half with 2 absolutely shocking calls on our attacks.”

The 2nd one was a certain goal as all Sinclair had to do was square it to Dembele.

The ref was reasonable, though – couldn’t complain about the yellows.

while you are at it, what does TOP OF THE NINTH MEAN

  26. Athbhliain faoi mhaise dhuit

We ragdolled them (but for a team not yet four years old they didn’t do too bad all things considered).

    God bless you Celtic.

Mom joint Stuart Armstrong….Captain, my Captain Scott Brown.

    Up the hooooops.

Just shuffled through the door ………..3 am Sydney time…….after what can only be described as a manic Celtic experience.

Absolutely drained with the emotion which comes from sharing a Celtic experience such as this with my adult children.

    Magical.

    That`s all.

Mention has to go to MIB when their player shielded the ball whilst on the ground, ball between his legs just at the goal area.

    Result FK them.

    Why?

    ======================

He had quite a few low level efforts to influence the result. The one you mention was noticeable, as was the hand ball just outside their area given against Moussa, when it looked like (Tavernier) was the offender.

  29. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Good day’s work.

    Minutes silence – impeccable

    Toilets – pristine

    Song book – restrained

Performance – between good and very good

Cheating ref – minceyheidman called it.

60th minute, Celtic in top. Their player traps ball between legs while on ground. Rules are clear – indirect free kick offence.

Result – free kick other way ( not even close to an infringement by a Celt) to relieve pressure.

    Plain cheating. Walker was silent.

    Roll on 2017.

Hail hail and stay safe in Glasgow.

  30. I was saying to my son when we equalised that I’d lived through the 90’s watching Celtic play well against Oldco only to give away goals and lose it from there. It was like watching it in reverse today apart from the fact that we had genuinely class players in among the not so clever back then. McStay, Collins etc

Windlass, Halliday and their best players McKay and miller would get nowhere near our team.
