The real reason is that Rangers didn’t want their fans embarrassing the club with their displays of racist and sectarian hatred towards Lennon and Sutton in full view of the TV cameras.

Turnbull and Rogic in the same midfield for a game like this is like taking a spud gun to a gun fight!
All this talk of spuds is making me think we might see some agricultural defending.
Who would win in a fight between a kerr’s pink and a yukon gold?

Formally complain to UEFA.
The broadcaster pays gazillions for match rights and access.
Which UEFA then hand the majority of over to clubs.
Ridiculous decision (and excuse).

Tough ask tonight, but here’s hoping.
Bench is frighteningly thin, as is squad.
Have doubts about Mccarthy if he can’t get in this team. Maybe it’s getting up to speed post Covid, but if he can’t start these games I’m worried. A 4 year deal as well!
Last year we had an amazing bench how did that work out?

Ange tells Celts: “Make your own history”
By Joe Sullivan
Such were the scenes in and around the confines of Seville on May 21, 2003 that even in defeat in the UEFA Cup final, the city has become a shrine for Celtic supporters.
No doubt, there will be Hoops on show in Seville today and tonight, but sadly there won’t be the mass pilgrimage one would expect on any Celtic visit there.
This time, though, there will be a strong presence of Sevillians and the venue will be the Estadio Benito Villamarin as the Celts face up to Andalusian side, Real Betis in the UEFA Europa League Group G opener.
Ange Postecoglou said: “We’re looking forward to it, there’s a historical significance with us going back to Seville and it’s an opportunity for us to test ourselves against a very good side away from home.
“And we were so pleased to get into this group stage because we knew that we’d get some pretty exciting fixtures to be involved in.”
The circumstances are different tonight but the manager has called on the current crop of Celts to make their own history.
He said from Celtic Park before the team jetted out: “When you walk around Celtic Park there are images of Martin O’Neill or our fans on that day – the past experiences of Seville and European competition, they are everywhere and, of course, they have an impact.
“It would’ve been great if we had some traveling support across there because it’s a journey you want to share with your supporters.
‘But irrespective, you understand the historical significance but it also motivates you to make your own stamp.’
“And that’s what I keep saying to this team, is that they’ve got an opportunity to create their own moments in this great football club’s history and create nights that hopefully can be talked about by future generations of players who come through these doors.”

Interested to see how Montgomery performs in that position. I think it could suit him, as he doesn’t look like a natural full back to me.

Good and bad are concepts created in our own minds. In reality they are just related to events that occur independent of our being or consciousness. We must accept those events – we must not let them affect our state of being.

no expert on the planet can predict how celtic will perform tonight – once again we are unable to field a team who have played together + having top quality players out injured.
You’d have to go with a convincing win for Betis based on that + with home advantage.
Can Celtic find a performance and draw from Seville energy?

I always struggle with the ‘not match fit’ thing
If you are on the bench, you are expected to able to come on at any point
If you are always on the bench and get little time on the pitch then you can’t be ‘match fit’ by the definition of playing regular games
We used to drop players into the reserves when we had them to keep players ‘match fit’
So are our bench ‘fit’ but not ‘match fit’ ?
Ajeti and Griffiths from last season are great examples. Lennon said they were not fit but wouldn’t play them.
i’m confused
Game is on in Ireland on Virgin Media 2 so I’ll miss out on the commentator controversy but at least not have to get a dodgy feed
Mon the Hoops
Who would win in a fight between Cosi Fan Tutte and Loose Housewives?

Turnbull-Rogic-soro-Montgomery
Jota ajeti

I think Montgomery could be brilliant in the forward left side
Rogic and Turnbull need to get the finger out on the tracking/tackling to support Soro
